Hard to go wrong with a P-pump Cummins, especially the 5.9l 12v. Super beefy engine, that's damn reliable without all the emissions BS that all the newer engines are stuck with unless you delete em.

@@nimwit0 the emissions based newer drivetrains are junk and a unreliable nightmare money pit. The 12v Cummins is FAR from junk and they are reliable and can easily be turned up to make decent power. Take a look around on UA-cam even. There are TONS of built Cummins that are pretty damn nice.

I agree the 24v is also a good powerplant. Nothing wrong with them either. Yes the powerCHOKES are nothing I would want as well. Never been a fan of them. Now the old IDI Ford motors are reliable for sure. Not powerful enough for my liking, but they seem to fire off pretty easily even after sitting for awhile. Meh it's all good bruh 👍😎

Also tdc on compression works to. Watch the intake valve open, close then when piston is at tdc in that cyl set valve lash on both valves, only works when you have spark plugs, or injectors/glow plugs out to gently roll over with a screwdriver or coathanger down the cyl and feeling for tdc.

3:15 Pretty much the only reasonable way to set valves when you have a large aftermarket cam with a lot of duration. Even in the "order" some valves wont be on the BC of the cam. That way is pretty much fool-proof, and if you go in the right order, usually only two rotations are needed. One note, though: Rotating in the normal direction, the exhaust valve should just be starting to open before adjusting the intake valve. Conversely, the intake valve should just be about to fully close before setting the exhaust. This ensures you stay away from overlap between the lobes, if there is any.

If that valve warp shit was true, then there are an ass ton of WWII warbirds with valves that are warped...Also, Backpressure is evil to all engines, the only difference is tuning due to the change in the scavenging effect of going from a restricted exhaust system to unrestricted because the backpressure keeps the incoming inlet charge from coming in as efficiently as it should. - So when the restrictions are eliminated, it's almost as if you changed the valve timing...increasing the effective overlap.
