Excellent! All I needed to make the change myself. Great that you haven't removed the fiddly "boring" bits from the video. The longer running time gives more understanding. Kiitos!
Hi Peter Thank you for this video, I have an Avensis 2005 Petrol 1.8 and I need a new battery but do not know what Size battery to get, I mean size in CCA, my current one says cca530
HI peter, i have oil coming out of a small hole on the right side(drivers side) of my engine block, toyota avensis 2.2 diesel 2006. can you tell me what might cause this?
When I disconnect the battery(-) negative contact, an alarm is triggered. What should I do?even if I disconnect both contacts of battery, the alarm still plays
Thank so much ..very informative...i need some help kindly ...i have a 2005 toyota avensis with 1az engine and my problem is morning vibrations ,everytime i start it in the morning(cold start)..it vibrates alot bt the vibrations dissappear after the engine heats up...i have in installed new plugs and all the engine mounts are intact ...what could be the problem thanks.
Peter Finn no worries but your videos are even more :D , as I just bought a Toyota Avensis 2012 TR Estate 2.0 D-4D and because I am not a mechanic I am learning a lot with you. Hope you do some video showing how to replace a headlight bulb in one of this similar models. All the best.
I mean size, they use 3 digit codes, most websites recommend 027. The battery currently installed is a bosch s5005 but its not sitting correctly in position and toyota advised me to get it replaced. However they won't tell me the 3 digit code that identifies the battery type. I think they want me to pay the over inflated price of a battery from them but I prefer the yuasa with 5 year warranty which I can purchase cheaper.
Why do car manufacturers always make the battery holding mechanism as complicated and inaccessible as possible? I thought my old Fiesta was awful, but this looks even worse.
All OEM (original equipment manufacturers) designs stuff so it suits them or the product better without thinking of much of how to make it easy to repair for the end user (without unlimited money). How does this suit them better? Several reasons: 1. The covers avoid external factors to damage the battery or the connectors 2. The bar in the top brings stability to the battery so that it's fits nicely in the engine room. If it was loose, it would cause vibration and noise. 3. They make more money when you go back to the dealer and buy original equipment (even if it's a third party who manufacturered the battery with a custom Toyota sticker) Apple does this too. It is possible to replace the phone battery at home, but it is just as complicated as shown here.
For someone not very into cars this video has been invaluable. I've now used it twice to replace and recharge my battery. Thanks a lot!
Great to hear!

Do you know correct size battery for 2006 1.8 auto avensis?
60 AMP

The plastic cover on the positive pole is stuck on my car. Yours seemed to come off really easy. Strange..
We have a -17 Avensis, title says this video will work for it but start of the video dosent say -17. Is it the same? 😃
Yes
What was battery size? 012?
60AMP
The new battery doesn't look too good. Why is that?
Hi, it is used battery, but OK condition.
Tose are nau titten. Tänk juu
