To answer a few questions without spoilering: A single Anime-Season sometimes has 2 Openings, that's why AoT has 4 Seasons and 7 Openings. In the greek mythology, "Titans" are giants in human form. Many compare AoT to GoT, which holds especially true in the sense that you want to avoid getting spoilered and that you want to pay attention to what is happening. The Anime is quite dark, has a great plot, Animations and Music.
It's better to explain it this way: Anime that have more then 12-13 episodes a season have 2 openings 99% of the time. Anime that have 20-26 episodes a season have 2 openings and the opening usually changes at the mid point of the season. Long running anime like One Piece usually have 1 or 2 openings a year.
@@az639 That's a more specific answer, but since there are a lot of exceptions to that, it can be even more confusing for someone who hasn't watched Animes yet imo. So I just wanted to point out, that the amount of seasons isn't necessarily the same to the amount of Openings.
Not to be snobby but in greek mythology Titans were the precursors to the gods, and the giants are just the spawn of Gaea. They are not the same at all, and none are in human form
Great reaction! Just to clarify, for anime series, each season doesn't necessarily have to only have one opening songs. Often, anime would change to a new opening after 12 or so episodes, often because the storyline is reaching a new story arc, so the song is also changed altogether to match the atmosphere. That's why, for example in your reaction for Attack on Titan, you saw two openings for the final season. Also, I don't think anyone has made the list yet, so here are the song names, in the order of your reaction: 1) "Guren no Yumiya" by Linked Horizon 2) "Jiyuu no Tsubasa" by Linked Horizon 3) "Shinzou wo Sasageyo" by Linked Horizon 4) "Red Swan" by Yoshiki ft. Hyde (This is the one that you referred to as Fallen Angel) 5) "Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi" by Linked Horizon 6) "My War" by Shinsei Kamattechan 7) "The Rumbling" by SiM
Opening 1 to the final season still makes me cry and "The Rumbling" kills me even harder know after our all known, new line: "I was so disappointed. I'm ... so sorry."
Attack on Titan is one of the greatest animes of all time and an excellent way to get you introduced into the wonderful world of anime. The storytelling, world building, characters, animation, music, literally everything about this show is a masterpiece. It’s quite dark und gory and has a lot of emotional moments that will make you cry, so this is definitely not an anime for kids. It’s kind of like the Game of Thrones of anime. If you’re into that, I highly recommend you to watch it.
There’s no guarantee you’ll like the show, but you’ll definitely enjoy the musical ride the whole way through. There are NO filler episodes among all four seasons! A good tip is you are allowed to go back when you don’t understand something. What makes it so impactful is having the full picture, which you would only have if you got everything they were putting down. The intros also have incredible lyrics that you’ll enjoy after watching the whole show.
Eren dies at episode 6 but not really he is transformed into a titan. The events of the first 3 seasons are reveled to be happening inside an island with more people outside.

Anime is usually based off of Japanese mangas or comic books. Japanese artist who created mangas will be asked by a Japanese animation studio if they want their manga to be adapted to animation.
Without giving anything away, I'd say AoT aims for a time period somewhere in between the 1840's and 1940's- The names of the songs: OP1 - Guren no Yumiya by Linked Horizon (season 1) OP2 - Jiyuu no Tsubasa by Linked Horizon (season 1 part 2) OP3 - Shinzou wo Sasageyo by Linked Horizon (season 2) OP 4 - Red Swan by Yoshiki x Hyde (season 3) OP 5 - Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi by Linked Horizon (season 3 part 2) OP 6 - My War by Shinsei Kamattechan (The Final Season) OP 7 - The Rumbling by SiM (The Final Season part 2) I'm already seeing some people asking for OP8. The anime doesn't exactly have an 8th opening per se, but a song was released for The Final Chapters special episodes (aka The FInal Season part 3). This song is called Under The Tree by SiM, same group of the 7th OP. Totally worth checking out. As I said, it isn't really and opening but a large portion of the fans consider it to be an OP, I have also seen some people refer to it as an ending or just "the song from the final chapters". This anime really has astounding music so I recommend checking out the ending songs (also 7 of them), or some of its OSTs
@@thepowerofsand6180 it's the calendar the people in the show use, so it starts in 845. Also, saying that it's based in 1840-1940s is very much giving away something, despite Jorge's dismissal of spoilers, which is why I commented in the first place. I don't know if you realised but they also didn't have giant monsters roaming around nor mysteriously appearing 50 meter walls in the 800s. They also don't have high tech grappling devices not just now but ever. It's a fantasy. It doesn't need to be accurate to a specific time period, It's just generally based off the Medieval period. Finally, season 4 spoilers here, I think it's supposed to be based in the early 20th century rather then your 19th century to early 20th century time range. The reason I believe this is because the show's about war and the two most famous wars happened in 1918 and 1939. The original war between Marleyans and Eldrians seem to be world war I, with Eldrians representing Germany getting blamed for it all, and then the events we actually see in the show representing world war II.
@@deidrequeenofchains the original comment says exactly the same so I don't get how I'm spoiling while the original isn't. My point on the calendar is the date they use in the walls doesn't line up with real life. So if someone who hasn't watch the show asks "when does the show take place?" saying 800 AD implies it takes place during the Mediveal Era ,which as I pointed out is wrong. The architecture and weapons and Polical system is more around 1800~. You are right about the WW1 part
your reactions are so genuine and i can tell you really care abt what you’re watching, most ppl just play through the video and that’s it. love the passion behind this channel🫶
The last opening is so amazing to me because it really is just like the main character himself is singing the song, all the lyrics really express his own feelings and his situation.
Attack On Titan is my favorite anime of all time! The characters and plot twists there are on another level and music is just phenomenal! Great reaction to openings. My favourite one is 7th. 😃
I loved hearing your guesses about the plot!! And you're right, one cannot possibly imagine being there for the first time and witnessing the story unfold... It's never too late to start watching it, though ;)
The songs have such unexpected foreshadowing to things often wayyyy ahead that you won’t even really suspect until you “know” and then check the older intro/outros again
AOT is a masterpiece, there has not been one show in my life that is so rewatchable that STILL after over 24 rewatches has me finding out new stuff and new context. You Would love reacting to the Hiroyuki Sawano Project Emu
I love the song for season 3 pt 2 cause the end of that song basically mashes together both musically, visually, and lyrically all the songs this particular artist wrote for this series (all the really epic rock music up to this point was written by revo)
Great reaction, it's great seeing someone pay attention to these openings and see what they can gather from them. Something I'd like to say is that specific video upscaled the animation to 60fps with a computer program, so it caused some imperfection with the motion you may or may not have noticed. Also, the first second or 2 of the last opening was cut-off.
The Attack on Titan sound track is composed by a legend among anime fans called Hiroyuki Sawano. He has done some of the most amazing music for anime. He has such a strong sense of style most anime fans can recognise his work anywhere. The AOT soundtrack is no different and you should listen to some of the insert songs that this man has created ie YouSeeBigGirl (The guy loves naming his music like this). If you love the openings you'll more then likely love other projects he has been involved with. Here are some examples: 86, Kill la Kill, Re:creators (Personal favourite soundtrack), Promare, Aldnoah Zero, Seraph of the end, Kabaneri of the Iron fortress and No Guns Life. There are more but those are the ones that come to mind straight away for me.
I'm so glad that you mentioned the flip in the first opening! I've always thought that that was a really cool piece of animation but I've never seen anyone else mention it before!
The first three openings (and the fifth) are from Linked Horizon, a band led by my favourite composer of all time, Revo. He's built his entire career around concept albums, so that building of a theme that you noticed was no accident. Oh, and that "can't mention brand names" thing is true for many anime too, as there are many that are set in just our normal world and have characters going to McDonald's - or, well, WcDonald's.
im just gonna recommend some of my favourite openings here : - Overlord openings 1-4 and Endings 1-4 are all awesome -Im a Spider, so what? openings 1 and 2 and endings 1 and 2 - JoJo Bizarre Adventure all openings (no skips!) around 26 openings -One Piece openings 1-24 (with a special 1000th episode opening) so 25 in total - Hells Paradise opening -Dead Mount Death Play opening
You were commenting on how hard it must be to draw all of what you see, and it’s true, but just keep in mind that many openings, especially uploaded on UA-cam, are “60 fps”, which means they put the opening through an ai program that fills in the frames to make it 60 fps, in some cases making it look much better and fluid and in most cases making transitions and fast movement look sloppy. Also, anime shows usually have one opening per “cour”, with each cour usually lasting 10-13 episodes. An anime season is usually either one or two cours, so around 12 episodes or around 24 episodes. Attack on Titan is weird because some seasons are one cour, other two cours, and some divided into two parts. But as a rule of thumb, for every opening there are around 12 episodes.
@@blackcid I said sometimes, and I don’t mean some 60fps openings look much better, I meant parts of an opening sometimes look better when interpolated, but in most cases it’s not better at all
I really like how this guy expresses himself, even tho he said he does not know a lot about this, it's great to hear some genuine and positive criticism when reacting to something you have never watched before, cool!
WAR is definitely one of those openings where if you watch it with none of the story's context after you watch all the previous ones, you almost wonder if someone accidentally included an op from a different anime lol.
It's such a refreshing feeling to witness someone who doesn't know anything about AoT react to anything, even the openings. It's honestly really nice because you know nothing outside of seeing these openings and your thoughts on it make it exciting for when you get into it. I just found your video on my home page and it reminds me how much I love AoT and how great it is!
I loved this reaction so much. Attack on Titan is one of my favorite shows ever. Not even because it’s anime but the story telling and OST by Hiroyuki Sawano, is just beautiful. The Rumbling intro made me cry because of the story up to that point is just so powerful and that song embodies it. I dropped a sub in hope that one day you will start this masterpiece. The episodes of this show, are rated highest on IMDB along with breaking bad. Thank you for your reaction! I hope you give it a try!
"Are we already in the Final Season? But we still have a full 3 minutes left, interesting" This was so unintentionally funny given all the banter surrounding the "final season" really having 4 parts released separately over like 3 years lol
Loved this reaction I will still wait for your One Piece opening reactions, you will see how the show evolution gets better and better since 1999 till now
Most Openings in Anime are made for 12 episodes (some also have 11 or 13) and because of that if a season has 24 episodes (some have 25) it has 2 openings which is why the 5th opening is for season 3
in modern day anime (for repeatedly used sets) the scene is oftentimes made in a 3d modeling program where you can make nice camera movements and create good light and shaddow animations. then the surfaces get drawn and put onto these 3d models. this way you don't have to redraw the scenery every time. still it is a tone of work and every change to the model also requires a change of the drawn parts etc. if a certain room or city or whatever gets used a lot and with shown with multiple angles as well as crazy camera movements this is easier but for scenes that are only done once just drawing them 2d is faster.
Show has 4 seasons: openings 1&2 are from season2 opening 3 is season 2 openings 4 (your 2nd fav one) &5 are from season 3 op6 &7 are for final season (4) but, since not everything what's in source matterial fit into season4... there are 2 more 1h special episodes planned to release 2023 (one already aired, 2nd one is planned in autumn/winter). So it's a good moment to catc up with the show as it's almost finished :) It's also a perfect animation of great manga -> no important scenes were cut from source material during animation process also no extra content was placed as filler.
"Anything that will help me understand the show without spoilers" It starts of very different than how it ends up but, we start off in a massive city surrounded with giant walls that keep out the naked large man eating titans. The humans living inside the wall assume they're the only humans left on earth, but don't really know. One day the giant skinless looking titan you said looks like the enemy, shows up, and he's way bigger than the other titans. He kicks a hole into the front gate and all hell breaks loose. Happy viewing!
Theme: giant naked or skinless human looking human eaters (titans), fight for freedom, dreams, duty and more...surprises. Timeline: has similarities with our history around 19-20th century, but since the show is a fantasy, it has its own timeline. Music: epic!! The music score inside the show is phenomenal too. I say this, usually for movies and drama, but it applies to anime as well, the music helps the overall impression of the show.
the English names of the songs are: Crimson Bow and Arrow Wings of Freedom Sasageyo (Dedicate) Red Swan The Path of Longing and Corpses My War Rumbling Under the Tree The Last Titan
The people are all going to be hand-drawn, but the backgrounds are sometimes cgi in some of the crazy scenes of the characters flying through them. Titans are occasionally cgi as well, but usually not.
Absolutely love your reaction to this! New anime fans are great! U should def check out the full version of the rumbling by SIM. That was the last opening and by far the best. AoT is roughly about an apocalyptic world where humans have been driven to the brink of extinction by giant zombie like humanoids that do nothing but eat humans. That's as much as I can say without spoilers. The show is sometimes referred to as the Game of Thrones of anime because of the storytelling, character development, music and basically everything about it. This is def a great intro into the world of anime.
It was very interesting to hear your presumptions about the shows based on the imagery of the sound tracks. Being that I’ve watched the show about 5 times now, it was very funny to hear how wrong you are (in a good way). It’s just the type of show that you have to watch to understand. It has a really good pilot episode that will catch your attention. Also, watch in Japanese with English subtitles, that’s the correct way to watch anime
18:45 anime both are and aren't cartoons. The animation techniques and limitations and the ideas that they can convey with them are very similar between the two, but the expectations for what kind of show they make are completely different. Western animation basically falls into two categories; children's shows and adult satiric humor. Anime will not hesitate to animate any story that we would think to film in live action, and the flexibility of drawn images can enable many that we could never hope to do live.
Anime Seasons mostly have either 1 part (12 episodes) or 2 parts (24 or 25 episodes). And when a new part starts the Opening and Ending can change. So it's not unusual for a Season to have 2 Openings for for every season. Attack on Titan is a special case, because one of the seasons has 22 episodes and the final season (s4), has 4 parts, made of 28 episodes and 2 specials.
29:35 Yes, indeed every song you've heard on that video are what you call TV size (yes this series is broadcasted on tv) and therefore for the Opening songs they make a version that lasts around 1min 30segs for every anime. You can find the full version of these songs on UA-cam, they often are 3-4min music videos.
I've watched a lot of your Pentatonix reactions, that's how I found your channel. Now to see you react to the themes of my favorite anime just feels like two beautiful worlds coming together. If you ever watch this (or even just listened to any other songs from the OSTs) you would be in for a treat. The music in this anime is so enthralling!

Often, anime would change to a new opening after 12 or so episodes, often because the storyline is reaching a new story arc, so the song is also changed altogether to match the atmosphere. That's why, for example in your reaction for Attack on Titan, you saw two openings for the final season.
Also, I don't think anyone has made the list yet, so here are the song names, in the order of your reaction:
1) "Guren no Yumiya" by Linked Horizon
2) "Jiyuu no Tsubasa" by Linked Horizon
3) "Shinzou wo Sasageyo" by Linked Horizon
4) "Red Swan" by Yoshiki ft. Hyde (This is the one that you referred to as Fallen Angel)
5) "Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi" by Linked Horizon
6) "My War" by Shinsei Kamattechan
7) "The Rumbling" by SiM
"that looks evil, that's definitely the badguy"
Bert: "I am eleven years old"
Wait, wasn't he 12

@@tFighterPilotooooooooh, nice
Opening 1 to the final season still makes me cry and "The Rumbling" kills me even harder know after our all known, new line: "I was so disappointed. I'm ... so sorry."
So fun to be back here after hes finished the show
Attack on Titan is one of the greatest animes of all time and an excellent way to get you introduced into the wonderful world of anime.

Probably one of the best pieces of art ever made. I’m not a big anime fan, but AOT is a master piece. Dostoyevsky level of masterpiece 👌🏼
I know you're probably gonna get alot of comments like this but gotta check out the endings as well. Great reaction mate!
Chainsaw man opening and endings are really good
this video just randomly showed up on my recommended list and I gotta say: LOVE your reaction! As someone who has both read the manga and watched the anime I can only recommend this to you. It's really something original and well crafted!
Lots of love from Germany
Anime is usually based off of Japanese mangas or comic books. Japanese artist who created mangas will be asked by a Japanese animation studio if they want their manga to be adapted to animation.
Half correct, they're either based on manga OR light novels. In some cases they're completely original.
Without giving anything away, I'd say AoT aims for a time period somewhere in between the 1840's and 1940's-
The names of the songs:
OP1 - Guren no Yumiya by Linked Horizon (season 1)
OP2 - Jiyuu no Tsubasa by Linked Horizon (season 1 part 2)
OP3 - Shinzou wo Sasageyo by Linked Horizon (season 2)
OP 4 - Red Swan by Yoshiki x Hyde (season 3)
OP 5 - Shoukei to Shikabane no Michi by Linked Horizon (season 3 part 2)
OP 6 - My War by Shinsei Kamattechan (The Final Season)
OP 7 - The Rumbling by SiM (The Final Season part 2)
I'm already seeing some people asking for OP8.
Not quite... he was correct about the medieval theme. It starts in 845.
@@deidrequeenofchainsno thats the calender they use in the walls, its about 1800-1920
They definitely didnt have cannons and muskets in 800
@@thepowerofsand6180 it's the calendar the people in the show use, so it starts in 845.
Finally, season 4 spoilers here,
I think it's supposed to be based in the early 20th century rather then your 19th century to early 20th century time range.
I love how confused you are from watching the openings. This anime is a rollercoaster ride.
The OST of attack on titan is LEGENDARY. If you ever decide to watch this show, you'll lose your mind 😂
I love the song for season 3 pt 2 cause the end of that song basically mashes together both musically, visually, and lyrically all the songs this particular artist wrote for this series (all the really epic rock music up to this point was written by revo)
RED SWAN LITERALLY MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME
Subbed and super hopeful you'll start this amazing show!
Bro this is not a kid show, there is no bad guy or good guy in this show, just people fighting for their own justice
Here are some examples:
86, Kill la Kill, Re:creators (Personal favourite soundtrack), Promare, Aldnoah Zero, Seraph of the end, Kabaneri of the Iron fortress and No Guns Life.
Or McRonald
im just gonna recommend some of my favourite openings here :
- Overlord openings 1-4 and Endings 1-4 are all awesome
-Im a Spider, so what? openings 1 and 2 and endings 1 and 2
- JoJo Bizarre Adventure all openings (no skips!) around 26 openings
-One Piece openings 1-24 (with a special 1000th episode opening) so 25 in total
- Hells Paradise opening
-Dead Mount Death Play opening
I like that you freeze at 2:47 at exactly the image for first cover of the manga, with the colossal one made of muscles looking at the guy jumping.
It takes place in the future and the past. But also the past of the further future. A blind watch is the best watch. 😊
Definitely check out the endings too. They are also amazing
You have to check the Endings too, they're awesome.
But as a rule of thumb, for every opening there are around 12 episodes.
look much better? When? I've never seen an anime opening with 60fps looking good...
@@blackcid I said sometimes, and I don’t mean some 60fps openings look much better, I meant parts of an opening sometimes look better when interpolated, but in most cases it’s not better at all
i love this reaction bro it really looks like youre getting into the music and u have an infectious smile
I really like how this guy expresses himself, even tho he said he does not know a lot about this, it's great to hear some genuine and positive criticism when reacting to something you have never watched before, cool!
I like everything you said in this video. It's not just reacting to music, but deeper insights. Looking forward for more!
would love to see you reacting to this show
WAR is definitely one of those openings where if you watch it with none of the story's context after you watch all the previous ones, you almost wonder if someone accidentally included an op from a different anime lol.
But we still have a full 3 minutes left, interesting"
This was so unintentionally funny given all the banter surrounding the "final season" really having 4 parts released separately over like 3 years lol
Loved this reaction I will still wait for your One Piece opening reactions, you will see how the show evolution gets better and better since 1999 till now
Can we appreciate how such a peach this guy is ?? a kind soul...
12:44 Reiner wouldn't want to hear that
Show has 4 seasons:
openings 1&2 are from season2
opening 3 is season 2
openings 4 (your 2nd fav one) &5 are from season 3
op6 &7 are for final season (4)
but, since not everything what's in source matterial fit into season4... there are 2 more 1h special episodes planned to release 2023 (one already aired, 2nd one is planned in autumn/winter).
So it's a good moment to catc up with the show as it's almost finished :)
It's also a perfect animation of great manga -> no important scenes were cut from source material during animation process also no extra content was placed as filler.
opening 1&2 are from season 1 not 2
if he spent 30 mins watching 7 ops from aot, imagine watching every op from one piece💀💀
lil bro has shortest memory of anyone alive
The last two intros are very different from the rest tone wise because the tone of that season shifts massively
The endings of this show are also really good. Would definitely recommend that you also check them out
This anime is not just anime is masterpiece
🔥 reaction bro. But I wish the people uploading these anime openings would stop interpolating the footage to 60fps 💀
maybe is a a good way to fool copyright detection as it kind of deform the content
@@acook fair point
@@acook you might be right, but man it almost makes me nauseous looking at it in some scenes
If you ever feel up to watching anime, I totally recommend this. Some of the best storytelling in tv, not only anime.
agree
"Anything that will help me understand the show without spoilers" It starts of very different than how it ends up but, we start off in a massive city surrounded with giant walls that keep out the naked large man eating titans. The humans living inside the wall assume they're the only humans left on earth, but don't really know. One day the giant skinless looking titan you said looks like the enemy, shows up, and he's way bigger than the other titans. He kicks a hole into the front gate and all hell breaks loose. Happy viewing!
I love how excited and enthusiastic these reactions are. Very open minded too
Theme: giant naked or skinless human looking human eaters (titans), fight for freedom, dreams, duty and more...surprises.
Timeline: has similarities with our history around 19-20th century, but since the show is a fantasy, it has its own timeline.
Music: epic!! The music score inside the show is phenomenal too.
I say this, usually for movies and drama, but it applies to anime as well, the music helps the overall impression of the show.
I actually really like how your so calm and don’t scream at the mic 🤷♀️
Highly recommend this anime, probably the best anime i've ever seen
You should enjoy Overlord quite a bit. It only has 4 seasons but all 4 openings and 4 endings are incredible.
the English names of the songs are:
Crimson Bow and Arrow
Wings of Freedom
Sasageyo (Dedicate)
Red Swan
The Path of Longing and Corpses
My War
Rumbling
Under the Tree
The Last Titan
the final part of attack on titan is coming in a few months, so its possible to finish watching before it comes out! :D
The people are all going to be hand-drawn, but the backgrounds are sometimes cgi in some of the crazy scenes of the characters flying through them. Titans are occasionally cgi as well, but usually not.
One of the best reactions I've ever seen, so calm and enthusiastic at the same time.
Great reactions ❤
I recommend watching the Black Clover openings too, they never miss 🔥🔥🔥

It's been just about 3 years since I started watching AOT. The Final season had just started. Now, the Final season has just finished.
LOL
Anime Seasons mostly have either 1 part (12 episodes) or 2 parts (24 or 25 episodes). And when a new part starts the Opening and Ending can change. So it's not unusual for a Season to have 2 Openings for for every season.
Attack on Titan is a special case, because one of the seasons has 22 episodes and the final season (s4), has 4 parts, made of 28 episodes and 2 specials.
A really interesting detail in the opening My War, is that in the last part of the song, the vocals are chanting "monster" while it zooms in on Eren.
Attack on titan has been going on since 2013
