Something a bit different this time!
Here I'm sharing one of the most valuable techniques I've learned: CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). This is a psychotherapeutic technique that can be used as a form of brain training.
The idea is to assess the way we are thinking and the negative patterns and habits that we might have adopted as a result. We accidentally train associations simply by ruminating and imagining the worst all the time. But by taking control of this and 'reprogramming' our thought patterns with mindfulness and cognitive restructuring, we can change the way we feel and behave in a range of different scenarios. You can use CBT to overcome a range of anxiety disorders and other health issues - but also to improve your focus, access flow states, build confidence, and even combat insomnia!
In this video, I explain the basics of how this works and also show how CBT has benefited me personally in my own life. Hopefully it will be of some use to you too!
I share a lot in this video...

As someone who studies psychology myself i was honestly reluctant to click on this video because of how misunderstood many of these psychological principles are in popular culture. Needless to say i was relieved to find out that you actually know what you are talking about. Great video!

Can I be honest? I stumbled across your channel by accident and at first stayed on wondering how you would be engaging and educational. I love to commend and recommend which is what I now do with you. I love your fitness stuff, but love the way you introduce other spheres of interest into your videos. You are a breath of fresh air on UA-cam and as one English man to another I enjoy your very English twang. Great content, thank you

Believe me, regardless of the comments you get on videos there are countless people out there, including myself, who are simply motivated by your love of all this. It helps me to calm down and think while working out when I remember your videos on more serious topics like this. But it also helps me to relax and have fun when I work out, thinking about your Batman videos and such. You bring educational content that is helpful to the mind, body, and soul while keeping it super fun. Keep at it man, we love you!

I watch these videos with me on my walks in the mornings, listening to how to get "in the zone" and try to be a better person. This recent lockdown in Ireland has for me, been great. I hated myself in my job before all this, and use the free time to do more of my hobbies, be it training at home and working on that, or even learning guitar again. Moreover, I am in a more relaxed place in my head with the time to myself. These videos and your words on training and self improvement have been brilliant to me lately, so thanks for this wonderful channel.👍🤘🥇

CBT has helped me immensely with competitive shooting. I used to always get more and more nervous the longer the streak I got (closer to the max of 25), and going over why I was anxious and why the score mattered helped me a ton. My scores shot way up after it (no pun intended).

Tell me if the following Conclusion is right:-
    1. Realizing the Pressure situation
    2. Decluttering your mind

    4. Being in the Zone (achieving Flow)

      1. Being mindful of your thoughts and body
      2. Challenging your thoughts and replacing them with positive ones
      3. Calming down your body with breathing techniques etc.
      4. Testing your anxious thoughts in real life to see if they are justified
      5. Using mindfulness meditation to improve awareness

Dat thumps up from weeing in the urinal without any pressure. A win for Adam! And a definite like! Also I kinda started doing this when I had to go with stress everyday and had some really violent encounters. Then I thought to myself. I don't care. Nothing bad happened to me, I need to stat to focus on myself and my goals, everyone who acts an ass towards me or anything like that can go screw themselves. Then I added Wim Hoff method and box breathing to my life and I've been stress free.

How funny would it be to walk into a public bathroom and there are 3 guys standing there all with your former condition? None of them can pee because the other people are standing there. They are all staring straight ahead at the wall.
On another note: Several of your videos have had info that helped me. The connection between the right arm and left leg and vice-a-versa completely repaired my one handed backhand. Using that I've always been able to pedal more efficiently. Pull up are better because of that. It made a drastic change. I had heard something like it before but when I heard you say it, the idea clicked for some reason. It's almost like meditation for me. Now you've mentioned bio feedback. I used bio feedback as a child. I was always curious. As a kid I tried it everyday. I was at the orthopedic doctor a few years ago and he told me he'd never worked with someone who could control their muscle and relax certain isolated areas so easily.

Funny. The only problems I've ever had with public bathrooms is when someone leaves messes on the ground. I always feel self conscious and tell the people running the place, "someone peed on the floor," or "you need to clean the bathroom," just so they'll know, I didn't do it. I"m always afraid someone will think I'm the one who pissed in the floor. I've never been worried about someone looking at my pecker. I can pee in front of men or women without shame. I don't care if someone looks.

I think it would be great, if you shared some meditations, visualizations, and thoughts you use to motivate you.

Respect for saying purposefully instead of "purposely", but you're not American so it's kind of a given. And of course thank you for teaching me a bit about CBT. I liked the theory testing bit the most. That was a new idea for me.

As for the batcave idea, I think the topic is good in general. Personally, I'm more inclined towards the mad scientist persona :)

CBT sounds a lot like Buddhism with a rather contrived rationalization for the outcome. Interesting as always though.
