No mention at all about the ability to rent DVC points, so here are some numbers... 6 nights, June 18-24, 2023, standard room at Poly, total after taxes (not including $25/night for a car if you drive), $4473.03. If you rent DVC points for a standard view studio room at $21 per point (the longer you wait, the less per point, but availability will shrink), $2583 with no taxes and no fees for parking. If you look at moderate resorts, the 5-person standard at Caribbean is $2023.90, and at Port Orleans Riverside the Woods view 5-person standard is $2112.78, both do not include parking.
I'm with Sage, especially as an out of towner who needs to pay for everything. So spend 700-1200 a night here or under $200 for the sister hotels which means I can buy park passes and genie+ multiple times.
I stayed on my honeymoon 30+ years ago and plan to stay again soon. Did you mention that you can walk to the Transportation Ticket Center and board an express Monorail to Epcot? This was a big draw for me as I love MK and Epcot but hate Disney busses. Sure, we could pay to go to Hawaii for this price, but for Disney World luxury and convenience I am excited to give it a whirl again!!! Taking my dad who has never been here, so it is on his bucket list for sure.
Definitely worth viewing for anyone planning to go to Disney. Personally, you can get more bang for you buck elsewhere near Disney. Great job Hannah and team!
Stayed there in Feb with my daughter. This was a bucket list hotel for me. We had an amazing time. We stayed DVC and had view of park. We didn’t mind walking around resort because it’s beautiful. DVC building is super close to TTC. Tonga Toast - AMAZING!!!
700-1200 for standard room?!!! Wow! Prices have definitely gone up. I loved the waterfall, and think it is missed in the current lobby which seems really empty to me.
With Sage on this, there better be bare chested men in grass skirts serving me grapes that have been peeled for me to pay that much. If I'm paying that much, I'm staying at the GF. Back in the early 80s you didn't have any choice except the monorail resorts and Shades of Green (which was not a military resort at the time) and we have stayed at Poly multiple times. It actually was much less than GF and CR back then. For my money, I'm staying at an Epcot resort now days. I will say, the theming is spot on. We went on a diving trip to Palau (in the south Pacific) and when we walked into the resort I told hubby "this reminds me of the Poly, it's like they copied it". He reminded me that the Poly most likely copied the resort we were staying in but still, it was spot on except our resort had a non-enclosed lobby, all open air.
The Poly is the only Disney onsite hotel that we've ever stayed at. Love the atmosphere. Been loyal to the Poly ... HOWEVER ... at $700 to $1,200 per night, NOW, we will PASS. The last time that we stayed there, I got TWO rooms for $350 TOTAL, and that was a lagoon water view. That was when the kids were young and we had the in-laws with us. So long time ago. Based on pictures I've seen recently of the Poly, many things have changed, making it not what we originally fell in love with. Miss the fountain in the middle of the lobby. We all loved the Tonga Toast for breakfast at the Kona Cafe in the lobby. I did not mind that the long houses were not connected to the Lobby building. The atmosphere walking to and from, added to the immersive experience. The tiki torches. The Polynesian music along the paths. Made for a relaxing and romantic experience for wife and I. We did the Magic Kingdom the most, so having the monorail access was nice.
We just stayed here a month ago for the first time. We got a military rate on a water view which is the only reason we can justify paying that price. We loved everything about the resort... EXCEPT the mousekeeping was horrible. We stayed 7 nights and opted for it every other day, but only got in once. We had to ask for more towels one morning, and they didn't come until 10:30pm while we were already in bed. And they were unfolded and in a giant wad. We even had to put out own garbage bag in the garbage bc they don't do that for you. The only other complaint is that the sheets and towels are the same scratchy ones they use at every other hotel. For that price I feel they should be more luxe.
I just don’t know who can afford the Poly, especially these days and ESPECIALLY if you’re a family with more than one kid. There’s no disputing the Poly’s vibes are impeccable, great food & drink, etc., but those rates per night were prohibitive BEFORE all the other price hikes. Disney wants to have their cake castle and eat it too, and I don’t think it’ll be very long before people start diverting to Universal instead - particularly once Epic Universe opens.
I have stayed there and was ok…but…. The monorail was not much better than buses to me. Walking outside in the morning was not always fun. The boat to the mK was not always a deal. For my money, I would rather stay at Jambo House. It has better food and atmosphere and a much lower price. I would also rather stay in the Boardwalk area if I wanted to get to two parks with ease. On the other hand, when at the MK, I do go there for lunch. I would stay there again If I could get a good deal. I checked recently to see if renting points would help…not yet.
Deluxe Monorail Resorts should have free Genie+ for your whole party and the food should be free. I think it will be the only thing worth a 700 -1200 room. Or is for people with money to spare. Do love dining an Ohana, but staying at a nearby hotel or Airbnb
I am with Sage. For that price I need a hula dancer and Moana to deliver my bread pudding to my room. If you are paying this price per night you have lost your mind!
The Poly has always been a bit of an odd duck for me. Of all the monorail hotels it’s the one that takes the longest to get to (Contemp is one stop after MK and GF is one stop before). It has beautiful grounds but the rooms are just ok. The food is good but it’s not easy to get rezzies as they often go first as ADRs. I find that Poly is awesome to visit for an afternoon with a ADR to Ohanas but I can’t justify the prices of actually staying there.
I find your monorail distance argument odd. The CR and GF are one stop away from the Magic Kingdom, but only in one direction, which means that either the ride to or from, depending on the resort, will be the longest ride possible (as the resort track makes every stop). Whereas the PR placement is practically in the middle of the monorail route, so the ride time is the same coming and going. Overall, the monorail ride time will even out between all monorail resorts. Having said that, we’d just walk 10 minutes to the MK when staying at the CR. The cost for a standard room is just a killer tho.
Imo, no Disney resort is worth over 500 a night. Disney resorts are not luxurious and for the little amount, you spend in the room I don't know how people justify it. I think price-wise, it probably only works out if you have DVC or Rent points or go during an off time of the year and get a killer discount.

I too speak with my hands. Those hand motions do show relaxing vibes.

We haven't stayed there yet, but we always make it a point to visit the resort when in WDW.
Sage was me, in this.

This must have been a very, very long time ago. Most of the time these days, you can’t get two VALUE rooms for $350 total a night.

Join DVC and when you check out at the Poly, your room cost $0 😀

Casting my vote to stop referring to noodles as “noods”. The phrase “get some noods” isn’t invoking the correct image for me.
That’s literally the point of the joke
And don’t forget chick noods (chicken noodles) and beef noods. 😮
It’s a great place to spend an evening, but not a week of vacation! That’s way outside my price range.

My $103 a night four bedroom house with pool and hot tub laughs at this, yes it's a nearby rental home.
