Cool strategy, thanks for sharing! Do you know why this only works when he already has 3 mushrooms? In your description you mention a fight where he only spawns 2

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  10 місяців тому +1

I have 2 theories for the fight where he only spawns 2:
      1. Normal Toadstool only spawns 2 sporecaps where as Misery spawns 3 because he is weaker (this I haven't tested)
      2. Toadstool got hit so many times by the bees before he spawned his third sporecap that he stopped even earlier (likely as many hits before that as I did the entire spawn phase).
Nr 2 seems like the more plausible explanaition. As for the first question my theory is that it has to do with how many hits you are able to place. If I just hit normally he will have spawned 3 before he stops! I have however had situations prior to this recording where he spawned 4 sporecaps. You might think; why don't we just light Toadstool on fire then to get more hits in? I have tried this and it doesn't seem to work. That is barely an issue however since it doesn't matter how many he has as long as it's not MORE than 4! Hope this enlightened you in some way.

I'd like some clarification on this strategy. So, you explained that it's necessary to burn Misery Toadstool repeatedly from when he begins his initial summoning of the first sporecaps, then do it for the next one until he has a noticeable delay from cap #3 to #4. Do you have to burn Misery Toadstool everytime in the 15 seconds while caught walking back to the center of the arena?
I was having trouble getting this to work for me, and while I did see it happen once, I only just now rewatched and realized what strategy you were actually suggesting. I'm still not 100% though. What exactly is the rhythm of the fight that works here?

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  7 місяців тому +1

I'll admit it's a little bit vague (it is after all a glitch we're exploiting but I'm happy to give my best explanation possible), and the strategy requires a combination of luck and precision even though the take I did for the video was the first one. When you start the fight you should just fight him like you normally would until he starts spawning. Then you want to hit him once with the fire staff (any time after he started spawning but ideally as soon as he starts).
If you are fighting Toadstool with a normal weapon you should then lure him behind a pond (which is easy now that he moves so fast). Then when he starts walking, you want to hit him again, and another time when he starts spawning. Make sure that he's burning during most of the spawn phase. This should give you what I call the indicator that the strategy is working (the delay between sporecaps like what happened in the video).
If you are using a strategy that hits Toadstool a lot of times per second (like Wickerbottom's grumble bees or a thulecite club with the celestial crown or something) this shouldn't be needed and he will just not spawn the caps (this is more luck based however so I'd advice still using the fire staff as well).
Once you have the indicator or when the strategy is working Toadstool should repeat this delay before the 4th sporecap as long as you just hit him normally until the spawn phase (I don't have any data on animation canceling so I can't make any statement about that). Then you want to tap him once with the fire staff after 4-6 hits (after the third sporecap) to ensure that he is burning the ENTIRE spawn phase. If you do this consistently it should break every spawn phase, but then again, it might be hard (or virtually impossible) to ensure the strategy works every single time since it's a bug/glitch.
The hardest part, I would say, is to get the strategy to work the first place (and by that I mean for a second time since many people seem to only get it once in every fight without specifically trying). I hope this answered at least some questions that you had. Again, I discovered this strategy over a year ago when I was looking for new Toadstool strats after the farm strat got patched. Now that I started youtube, and was recording the all boss variants playthrough, I took a pause and decided to share this first when Don Giani uploaded his recent video where he accidentally encountered the bug. Since then I've just been practicing the strat during playthroughs (not even with rollbacks) and I haven't looked at any code so this is the extent of my knowledge about the glitch.
If you're really keen on learning the strat, the only thing I could say in addition to this would be that you watch (and maybe even study) the RAW footage if you feel like you have the time. You could also perhaps try the fight over and over until you get it but if you do; just make a save before and load if nothing has happened after about four cycles (don't do the whole fight, that would be torture). I am really trying to help you (as you can see by the length of this reply) in any way I can. I hope that Klei hasn't done a cheeky patch or something since I made the guide even though I doubt that given his still broken state. Good luck my friend and sorry for so many parentheses!

Hi. Can someone tell me how rain works in caves? Like, I waited for winter cause I saw a lot of videos where winter causes the caves to be perma wet, but I spent the whole season and not a single day it got wet. And as soon as spring started, a rift opened and caused acid rains (no wetness for at least 15 days).

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  4 місяці тому

Wow that's unlucky! Rain in the winter caves isn't guaranteed unfortunately and is up to RNG. You can't call lightning in the caves to force rain either. Rain is only guaranteed in spring as far as I'm aware and it shouldn't happen in summer at all. Like you said the rain could be acid which is also RNG based so I think you just got screwed by RNG. It's not all bad though since rain in the caves has nothing to do with you being there! I suggest changing plans or order of operations if the rain doesn't come. The only other solution is console commands and specifically: "TheWorld:PushEvent("ms_forceprecipitation")". Hope this helped!

@@-TheChosenOne Unlucky AF. I ended waiting till late spring, the last rain in the season, to fight toadstool. Only half of the fight he was wet, but i still managed to beat him. 7 weather pains on this, seasons of preparation, and i dont want to ever fight him again, at least on this map.

Sad that you came to that conclusion. I urge you to watch the first couple of minutes of episode 5 of my Wigfrid series where I kill Toadstool very painlessly! That strategy doesn't require rain and only a few weather pains but it works best with Wigfrid. Also, good job beating him, he's not easy when things start going wrong!

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  10 місяців тому +1

Good question! I use it since it deals 72 base damage to wet targets and with Wigfrids innate +25% damage that becomes 90.4 I believe. Toadstool will also allways be wet since it's winter meaning that this damage will not be reduced like a hambat's would!

  • @SpeedXcosmO

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  6 днів тому +1

    • @SpeedXcosmO
      @SpeedXcosmO 6 днів тому +1

@@-TheChosenOne Thanks for the reply!!! Anywayz I am about to try it out nevertheless, the flingo got nerfed, but still it buys some decent time to chop or stuff food. Yet another question, I've googled myself to oblivion on the morningstar to find out how you get your target soaked, nothing so far, besides dripple pipes suppose not to work in caves also I wouldnt use it, because I had to sacrifice headgear or chest slot to combat the rain.
      Many many thanks!🙏

    • @-TheChosenOne
      @-TheChosenOne  5 днів тому +1

No problem man! First of all, dripple pipes sadly doesn't exist in DST (if they didn't add it literally yesterday) so the only way to make your target soaked in the caves is to wait for rain! This is incredibly frustrating IMO and I've been wanting Klei to fix it for ages. For instance, water balloons and watering cans doesn't get enemies wet and lightning can't happen in the caves so you can't trigger rain with telelocator/mosslings/end is nigh! There is one way though that we can strategize to get him wet when we fight and that's through seasons. In summer he'll never get wet, autumn won't work either but spring and winter will! In spring it rains very often so it's hard for it not to be wet but that comes with the drawback of you getting wet. In winter however, nothing will ever dry off because of the low temperature meaning that if it rains once in winter/end of autumn that means he'll be wet for all of winter! Therefore I recommend going to fight him about 5-10 days into winter so that it has time to rain but so spring doesn't hit before the fight is over (Misery Toad can take up to 4 days lol).
So, go in winter or spring, you won't be wet in winter so that's the best option (although fighting toad with body armor + eyebrella is totally viable)!
I can also recommend another strategy that is very easy if the fire staff strat doesn't work! It's as simple as bringing torches and a pan flute or two! What you do is fight him until he spawns trees, lure him behind a pond when he's powered up, put him to sleep, burn the trees (chop one though). Then when he wakes up (since you chopped one) you can go and attack him. Then just repeat until he's dead but just keep in mind that he builds up a sleep resistance (you can supplement pan flutes with ice staves for example), and that you need to lure him behind a new pond the 3rd spawn phase and on since the sporecaps might create sporeclouds when you burn them! Don't forget to kite as well and I recommend being at half sanity during the fight so that Toadstool passively farms nightmare creatures for you!
      Good Luck!

    • @SpeedXcosmO
      @SpeedXcosmO 5 днів тому +1

@@-TheChosenOne thx, I will try to take it into consideration. Thats a total bummber they created such a kick ass tool to cut it's handle short, so to say....
Dripple pipes I saw on a fanbase wiki, I didn't pay attention to the version and hoped for it to come along as game progresses, so thats one again in the nuts.
The base damage of morningstar is not so good, so it drags the fight way longer then I had hoped. Still better then hambat with the spore cloud, one touch and it's in the dump.
I think I will try to gear up thule armor with eyebrella and bunch of morningstar but I think I'd still need a lunar axe to chop the sporecaps faster.
Weather pane is a pain on console, unless someone has done a video on how to get every hit right with the ps controller. So I think I leave it atm as it is.

That's a bit sad to hear so I'll give you some tips in an attempt to sway you to stay. Firstly, Toadstool is by no means a required boss to beat. The smartest idea when it comes to him is to just do other things until you have very powerful gear like weather pains, thulecite clubs and suits, or some character specific gear like the Enlightened Crown on Wigfrid! I just show off a very specific interaction I found in this video. Also I've never played the switch version but if you have a laptop or another computer you can run the steam version.
