    Hello ASL Heroes!!!
    Hey, I could really use your help.
    If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you.
    A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com.
    Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

    I love your videos so much. The older one screens were better. This version, Dr Bill and his helper block the screen with their bodies. The older one, somehow the screen was more visible. Nonetheless, they are still amazing. Thank you.

    It's amazing and so important the influence of context in languages. Knowing a language does not equal knowing its application.... like programming! Thanks Bill!

    Thank you so much Bill. You are an amazing teacher. May God continue to bless you and your ministry\teaching. I was just saying you can never get too much. Bill. Voice off training can never be replaced. I've tried. I'm always amazed how much better\ more I learn than what you're being taught, being able to receive, as well as remember new vocabulary

    I have been interpreting for 26 years. Well, I was a full time hospital interpreter 25 years ago. I have seen that there is now a national certification! Is that something you advise?

    • @Katy-land
      @Katy-land Рік тому

      I should have added that it was at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. Home of Gallaudet University. I was pretty busy! There was not a national certification that I knew of back then. I have seen more and people who pretend to interpret/fake it. Nelson Mandela’s ceremony was probably the most disgraceful thing I had ever seen. It is happening more and more. And, hearing people don’t know if they’re actually signing or not. It’s a sad state of affairs.

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  Рік тому +1

      I do think certification is a good idea for those working in the field of interpreting.

      Wow, I was not expecting such a quick response! Thank you so much!! I really wish you were on the East Coast...I would love to meet you!! I have known about the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), however, there seems to be some other National Certification. Maybe I can simply renew my RID. I will definitely look into it. I was offered a job interpreting for the schools in my county, and I will also be helping out in an ASL classroom at my son's school!! (high school) Thank you so much for everything you do! Anyone that is interested in learning to sign, I always send them to your UA-cam account!! Best ASL Professor EVER!!!! @@sign-language

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  Рік тому +1

      You might want to check to see when the next RID meeting is for your state's chapter of RID that is drivable from where you live and then go there and meet a few other terps from your state and ask them about what certifications they recommend.
      Some states offer their own interpreting license or certification and that would be a good certification to have if you are going to be interpreting in a public school.

    What is the sign you used when telling the story about your mom saying you could have a horse when you turned 18 that looked like make but you didn't finish it?

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  Рік тому +1

      Probably the sign "GET, receive, obtain"
      When asking questions about signs in the videos it is best to include the time code for when the sign appears in the video.
      This is the format: 00:01
