He’s spoken before about fighting so his brother doesn’t have to. I think seeing him talk about watching Nate get pieced up by Leon really shows that too. I think he got this Robbie fight because he felt responsible for that. Like he thinks he should have been doing that with Leon, and Nate should have been protected by him. This interview was really interesting and dope to see. Nick is the realest person ever man. When he got comfortable, its like a whole other side of him. He lets out his frustrations, his worries, his problem, and you can really tell that hes able to look within himself and pinpoint his feelings for this and that reason. His fighting technique, and his comfortableness to just let it all out is what inspires me, and why he is one of my favorite fighters
@@rusty6200 still, he sounded depressed, angry, and lost mostly the whole interview. I don’t get all the people commentating so positively about the interview. I appreciate his realness and rawness, but it was depressing to watch
"Pension for Fighters". Nick just broke my heart with his honesty & rawness. For us fans...these fights are entertainment & soon we get on with other things in life. Its them, the fighters that has to live through the repercussion of these brutal fights & the struggles of life. They need pensions. Edit : I’m not asking the UFC to pay anything extra. It will be good if they do. But My suggestion is this: 1) Cut 30% off all earrings from fighters & put that in their fund. 2) Release that amount 5 years after fighters official retirement. 3) Release it on a monthly basis. 4) Let a bank handle it. So Even if UFC goes kaput, the bank can guaranty returns. Let’s not expect a man/women fighter in early 20s getting paid overnight & locked in a contract to make sound decisions. Few will do, most won’t.
@@ottoskorzeny577 95% of them won’t. They get hit, break bones, head trauma. Without proper healing, recovery & guidance it’s very hard to take good decisions. Cut 25% off every earning, release it monthly, 5 years after the retirement. Something like that.

So much love and respect for Nick. Love hearing him speak when he's comfortable. Honest and authentic are two very different things and he's uniquely both.
Nick has mastered both fighting, and the art of fighting without fighting. He's a fighter for truth and honor. REAL Honor, like trust or respect, cannot be bought or sold, only earned. His legacy is like that of a Samurai Ronin (master-less) that refused to kill himself to retain his honor (in the eyes of his society) after losing in battle, but gains his honor and solidifies his legacy as a fighter to the death, against all odds and opposition. I really hope he wins this fight. “Truth always rests with the minority, and the minority is always stronger than the majority, because the minority is generally formed by those who really have an opinion, while the strength of a majority is illusory, formed by the gangs who have no opinion - and who, therefore, in the next instant (when it is evident that the minority is the stronger) assume its opinion… while truth again reverts to a new minority.”― Soren Kierkegaard
This is beautifully depressing. A true fighters life. A true fighter. A man who was on top of the world but at the same time the bottom. As clear as the passion for fighting is the self hate for having to. The transparency is breathe taking with its unashamed honesty; all while simultaneously soul breaking. @Cheese Cake what life outside fighting and making his money with his stardom high? He has no wife no kids he spent 2019 living on Instagram drinking and partying in Vegas. Don’t make excuses
I agree with both of you. But Nick has to get over his resentment though it's eating a hole in the middle of him. He's a global superstar admired and respected by very many people and at the end of the day, that should be enough. It sucks sometimes when we don't get all that we think we should or deserve or have earned but the truth is, is that we make our own happiness, it's a choice. But make no mistake, I have a great deal of love for Nick Diaz.
It's like there are two Nick's and they are at war with one another, you can see the gears turning in his head and the constant back and forth battle. I really like the dude though just like his brother he is a real one.

Yeah him and his brother both have always been this way. You see it with a lot of people that get thrown into the spotlight. Someone that came from nothing and now all of a sudden you have the whole world watching. That's gotta be a scary thing. Some just deal with it better than others.

This interview was so real. Warmed my heart when Nick talks about the problem of him and his brother being in the same weight class. Said he would literally retire and pass the torch to Nate just so he can be "okay"
This was a modified therapy session for Nick. There is a lot to unpack, and I have the upmost respect for him just being completely honest in his answers and emotions. How would that make it any different? Fighters know and have opinions on the fight game, beloved or not.
I don’t think he does, maybe after the fight he will realise how many people support him, but he’s just been in the UFC to fight, nothing more and nothing less. He’s always hated interviews because of how he’s uncomfortable on camera most times.

3) Release it on a monthly basis.

Brett: Looking forward to the fight and I wish you the very best.
Diaz: "Ok."
Brett is a terrible person to interview Nick, Jon Anik should be doing this.
@@travisbaker2592 what's so great about that company worm
Honestly, kudos to Brett for allowing Nick to freely flow here. I think Brett had a script he was following and I noticed him fold it in half and stop looking at it halfway through
Alhamdulilah, times over , let them be
This is the first time I've enjoyed a Brett Okamoto interview, and I think it's because of that exactly.
If you dont do that then you know that he had already left the building
yup they always read the script including everyone, TRUST ME! Look at their eyes and constant focus
He’s not he just remember it
"I gave to everyone else when I shouldve been giving to myself". Nick is so real and so relatable. I hope he wins, doesn't take too much damage, and hope his own coaching and school works out well for him. Diaz brothers ftw (for the win).
Nicks honesty is so rare, such a pure soul man
Well said. Social anxiety disorder sucks.
It’s so refreshing to hear this level of honesty, reminds me of Mike Tyson.
When Mike was younger he was an insecure child putting a mean face on for the cameras. If you mean Mike now your absolutely correct
My thoughts exactly..
Mike even said he was scared before every fight. Wondering why he was even there..
You've literally just watched Dana latest interview after the presser lmao
GSP was just asked if he can relate to Nick, and he said he did.
Gotta love Nick. Missed that dude
@@gamebred_13th86 you must be knew here
Me too, appreciate this one. It might be the last🙏

Nick by submission 💰
@@gamebred_13th86 bet u also think Conor is daddy!
Brett Okamoto is a humble, kind dude in a very difficult interview spot. Good job.
Nick, you are such a real human being. Thank you for your authenticity.
It’s like a therapy session, seeing Nick opened up in this interview tears me up
Bruh! 💯 felt same way
Listening to Nick just lowered my IQ by 10 points
@@bluewave2024 thankfully being smart and a test for intelligence are different things in real life, he’s a multi millionaire and you’re a nobody.
Who do you think is smarter in real life?
This is not a therapy session!
@ I doubt a millionaire will be commenting on UA-cam videos.
Ten minutes in and this turns into one the greatest fighter interviews.. Classic Nick Diaz wisdom
I feel Nick 100%. I understand his feelings, maybe not as a UFC Fighter…but in general. I feel like I’m watching myself finally come out with how I feel about things because I never do. So I feel for him big time. I feel like he feels like his life has been a waste and he hasn’t had a purpose, etc. Praying for you big homie, much love
This is sad man. A great fighter who wishes he could find other passions so he could get away from fighting but struggles to. I hope you find things you love Nick that can make you feel happier.
I disagree
If the commission didn't screw him for weed traces for 5 years. That petty for weed. N kuomo ask stupid questions u wonder y he don't like interviews
@@reallifematters8699 suspended for 18 months and its really his fault, he knew he wasn't supposed to have weed in his system
@@Deacers it’s sadly true what you’re saying. He did know the risks. I think it’s a dumb rule, but everyone was aware.
@@AbstrACTioNation yeah it hurt me typing it out but he basically screwed himself
I just want Nick to have some peace. He deserves it, been in a fight his whole life.
HE HASNT FOUGHT SINCE 2015, AHAHHAHAHAHAHH

wow I got goosebumps hearing him talk. a true legend
"I like to say I love everyone and everything but then I realize that that's... not that's not... I don't." Love this line!
Wow, nick makes so much sense.. I completely understand what he’s feeling. Nick bro you’re deep, much respect brotha!
Haha /s
I hope Nick gets what he wants out of life, he seems really down here.
I agree but fighting is not the way to go about it
I agree
I would argue its on brand for nick I herd him say the same things 10 years ago .I honestly think the reason we love the Diaz brothers so mutch is they rarely do interviews and when they do your left with more questions then answers but you still hang on every word real knows real .
Nick is a national treasure and we must all appreciate this man :-) Can relate to being betrayed, injustice, and becoming less of yourself... You want revenge and better things but never get it... You only get shattered to pieces... All the sacrifice and punishment, and you still get pushed all the way back to take the punishment all over again...
Almost suicidal. I definitely hope that he gets the help he needs as well.
This interview was so real. Warmed my heart when Nick talks about the problem of him and his brother being in the same weight class. Said he would literally retire and pass the torch to Nate just so he can be "okay"
Nick is at middle
@@alisonyuill624 fight was suppose to be at 170 until it changed yesterday
@@alisonyuill624 nick competed mostly at welterweight also this bout was initially a welterweight bout but to be fair Nate does cut to lightweight
i believe thats why he did not compete even after the suspension was over, he wanted nate to fight
This was a modified therapy session for Nick. There is a lot to unpack, and I have the upmost respect for him just being completely honest in his answers and emotions. I almost feel like a lot of what people don't understand about Nick would make more sense if they had access to interviews like this. If you look at old interviews with him, its like he didn't get the right follow-on questions or space to express himself. Hat's off to Brett for making it a great interview. A lot of people would have jacked it up to where Nick wouldn't have been able to speak the way he did.
Tony Ferguson is the type of guy to ask the referee if he's ready.
Even In videos where tony isn't involved people still bring him up lmao
These jokes are gold 🤣
Lmao
Hahahaha! TOTALLY
@@erickpoint0
It's even funnier on videos that aren't even related to Tony because it sounds like something a Tony fan would do lol
Lmao
I think we know how Diaz feels now.. thanks Brett for really hammering that one home
About the most useless line of questioning I ever saw. I think the comment section could've pooled together better ones to ask
But how DOES it make you feel Nick? After 6 years..
That’s all mma interviewers ever ask. “How does it feel” “how are you feeling” “what are you feeling after this result”
Lmao for real bring Ariel back please
F E E L
Definitely see why he feels so much resentment towards the sport if his career happened 10 years later he would’ve made 10x more money
He made more in strikeforce than a lot of people realize, Strikeforce paid almost 65% in revenue, look at guys like Overeem the contracts they had were much better than most guys who were with the UFC.
@@bengoldstein2823 still not much compared to what nate makes now and he was a lot better than nate is
Yeah and now marijuana is legal. What freakin luck for Nick. They took his livelihood for what? For smoking pot… I blame the system that wanted him out.
Thanks to Conor Mcgregor
@@richardsanchez2409 i mean, his suspension was reduced to 18 months. he didn’t need to sit out but i’m assuming he did because he always hated fighting.
My favourite interview I’ve probably ever watched. So real, so honest. I love the Diaz brothers. Such a great, down to earth guy. I feel bad about last night, and this is honestly kind of sad :(
Much love and respect ♥️
