He'll always be a UFC champ in my eyes, as crazy as that may sound. He won that fight against Robbie, and Robbie is maybe my favorite fighters of all-time. Absolute class and an absolute legend
@@rammy3879 Fans don't like to count interim belts for some reason, disregarding them as 'fake' belts. Which is silly because interims exist for a reason, whenever the undisputed champ can't compete and to keep the division moving along.
@@madgavin7568 As long as the interim title made sense, they are the real champion. In Condits case GSP pulled out hurt against Nick and was about to be out for another 10 months so it made sense. Condit was a real champion. But an interim like Gane vs Lewis, where Ngannou said he wanted to fight in September after getting the belt like 5 months prior, it made no sense and had no reason being a title fight.
@@michaelscylla3188 That's true yes, but remember that Carlos Condit was also the Welterweight champion in the WEC and defended his belt thrice. He was always a champion.
Carlos was always exciting to watch and such a well rounded fighter. A true legend of the fight game, wish him all the best with what comes next. Respect!
Beautiful violence all the time. But as a fan, he's not well rounded in the wrestling aspect at all. People took him down too easily. But yep, respect to him. Truly one of the most memorable.
True legend of the game! A fighters fighter by all means , always brought it and was one of the most entertaining fighters in wec/ufc history !!! Absolutely a champion bloke and a champion fighter ! Guna miss him
I know he'll never see this but Carlos you've been a huge inspiration to me. One of the last greats from in my opinion the greatest era in Mma history. I'd look forward to everyone of your fights. Loved watching you prepare in the embedded vids, and then watching you fight and leave it all in there.
Carlos is the reason why mma became a passion more than an interest to me. Some people probably don’t remember what 170 was like when he was WEC champ and then came to the ufc. No offense to the current batch of guys who are mostly former lightweights past their prime, 170 was absolutely insane back then. Condit, Lawler, GSP, Hendricks, Nick Diaz, Rory Mc Donald, and too many more to name who were all killers, well rounded, and either were champs, became champs, fought for the title and they did it in multiple promotions. The way he fought in that era, and the awesome movement and unique striking style was amazing. My younger friends who talk about mma since becoming fans more recently actually think 170 is amazing now and I show them the old fights from back then and they’re like “wtf!?!?” Anyway I hope Carlos sticks around the sport even if he’s not fighting. The guys interesting and always has something insightful to say.
Carlos gsp nick diaz, these 3 from the Golden age of welterweight is what got me into the sport. Seeing him leave is bitter sweet, i wish he had more financial security after everything. Absolute legend, thank you Carlos
Carlos was always one half of some of the greatest fights in UFC history. You were a savage and will be missed. UFC Hall of famer for sure. Respect to you and enjoy your retirement.
Sad to hear Carlos retiring. He was always awesome to watch and a class act outside the cage. Now that Nick Diaz is back I was hoping to see that rematch after the Robbie fight but Condit is a legend and glad he’s doing what makes him happy. Good luck and thanks for all the years of entertaining fights NBK
Glad he’s hanging them up. God bless him. He doesn’t need to be a “name” on up and comers , way too much history for that. Best of luck sir, genuine warrior.
Condit GSP, Condit Lawler, two of the greatest fights I've ever seen. Awesome entrance music with tool and deftones, legit nice guy, and one hell of a fighter. Good luck Carlos and thank you. Hall of fame awaits.
I watched Condit vs GSP in Montreal in a bar , I was rooting for Condit even though GSP is hometown star , thats how much I was a fan , happy retirement and hope to see Condit around. ps : He is a former UFC Welterweight champ , he beat Robbie.
Did what you did? One of the best chins ever in the sport - no quit in you, and you absolutely loved to compete inside the octagon. A true fighter on every level. Congrats on a phenomenal career. Be proud of all you gave to the sport and your competitors. 🤛
This man was my absolute favorite. I never missed watching a Carlos Condit fight since his first appearance in WEC- this pale guy, buzzed nearly bald with a zombie like stare laser focused on hurting his opponent- he had me hooked. Happy retirement Carlos, what a true legend of the sport.
I've been watching MMA for over 25yrs and Carlos has been one of my favorite fighters in that time. All class, so close to beating GSP, so may amazing fights, the definition of an OG legend.
Probably isn't gonna mean much to people who didn't know his best friend, but truly, RIP and I hope his family and Carlos are standing strong. Condolences and to the legend himself, Carlos, I will never stop going back to watch your fights, they are nothing short of an inspiration for all future generations.
Condit is an absolute legend. 32 pro wins with 24 finishes (15 KO, 13 SUB), he really lived up to the nickname Natural Born Killer. Condit has a legendary chin too, he only has 1 TKO loss in 42 pro fights overall and it was a knee injury in the Woodley fight. It was sad seeing his decline in the last few years but he's given us so many great fights and finishes in his career (flying knee on Dong Hyun Kim my personal fav), and his fight with Lawler is a classic. NBK will always be one of my favs, I wish him well in his retirement.
Already going through that last generation of fighters pre hype era, seeing all of them retire and a lot of them ending careers with loss after loss or picked up by B team (bellator) wish him and all the last gen guys luck in whatever they pursue next
One of the most creative and dynamic MMA fighters of all time. So fun to use in UFC 2 online too. Flying knees, spinning kicks, elbows. So diverse and exciting.
He’s such a legend and such a humble down to earth dude. Also one of my favorite nicknames for a fighter. Hell of a career man (I also think he beat robbie lawler)
The irony is Carlos actually could still compete with some of top ww’s , his last fight with Griffen wasn’t actually a terrible loss..but I don’t he could become a champ again. Either way he’s a legend and his run in the WEC and the beginning of his UFC career was epic.
1st time I saw him was UFC 115, his comeback win over Rory! I remember never seeing Carlos fight prior to that card (I got into the sport in late 2009 lol) But I remember Rory and how young and talented he was really stood out the first 2 rounds but Carlos caught my attention in that last round when he finished a tired Rory. I couldn't get over how much grit he had knowing he was losing but was still looking for a way to win. Then his KO victory over Dan Hardy lol ONE OF MY FAVORITE KO's of all time!! Then how could we forget the flying knee against Kim! I began training in kickboxing around 2012 and I bought up all the old DVDs (before Fight Pass came around) and I'm 6'3 and naturally lanky so I'd study guys like Carlos, Jones and Travis Browne. I learned a lot watching Condit, how he'd switch stances, how he'd set up his kicks, etc. I hate seeing guys I loved and followed retire! :( In any sport! But this one kinda tugs at me a bit. I was and still am a big fan of Condit and it saddened the F out of me seeing him on that losing streak. But hey, I'd say he had a helluva career!! :)
All those new mma fans especially from outside America don't know who Carlos condit, rampage Jackson, nick Diaz and many more were and how great they were. Every new fighter with a win streak gets hyped to be champion. Carlos has 23 knock outs that's more knockout wins then khabib nurmagomedov wins in UFC. Think about that
The first UFC fight I ever saw was a Carlos Condit fight and I was pretty much hooked on the sport since then. Loved watching him fight, hope he goes on have good health and success in his future endeavors.
I had to come back to this interview, it's already been a year. I miss Carlos Condit but i want him to be happy and successful without fighting, i wish him the best and i am also thankful for all the great fights he gave us. Still doesn't feel real.
One of my favorite Condit fights was the one with Rory. He was down two rounds and came back in the third to beat the piss out of Rory to get the late stoppage
i'm sad and happy at the same time he is retiring......he has nothing left to prove and has accomplished everything.....i believe he won his title fight against robbie lawler
I have loved this guy since day 1 he is a badass. 6-7 years ago, I'm at a corporate event (New Orleans Convention Center) if I remember correctly. The place is huge and I am doing a training all they way on the other side of the place when a buddy tells me that Carlos and Phil Davis have been appearing in our booth and are about to leave. I cut my class early, sprint across the center, get to the booth, and Carlos and Phil are sitting there eating their lunches with a handler. I'm in and around the TV industry for work, so I have had the opportunity to have my pic taken with lots of fighters (Carlos was on the bucket-list), and I have gotten them all to kinda put their fist up to my chin for each pic(all good sports, however Frank Shamrock is a whole diff story). Anyway I say all of this, to say that when I asked these guys, Carlos quickly put his lunch down, jumped out of his seat, and was extremely obliging and just mean mugged me like he was gonna hit me for an epic pic, he was exactly as I expected, a super -awesome and polite dude. Phil Davis took a pic but wouldn't do the fist thing, eh you win some you lose some.
Damn I grew up watching Carlos condit man gonna miss him!!! So happy when he beat Díaz he beat lawler I was so pissed now he’s retiring!!!!! Let’s go condit!!!
His first 23 wins were all finishes. Pretty crazy stat, lived up to his nickname.
Damn, even against bums that's impressive.
That's brilliant :-)

Rory almost got away, but not quite.
