    Thank you for these videos
Ray you are a diamond in the rough.
    Appreciate all your knowledge.

You have the right philosophy. Putting in brand new boards and parts is correct on these machines. When you have a car, after so much time you have to replace the spark plugs water pump timing belt etc. not rebuild them. Very good work

Ray - thanks for the videos they are very useful in helping me get up to speed on pinball repair. I've been a professional electronic tech for 25 years doing jukeboxes and pro audio repair. I've always avoided pins because I figured they were a nightmare. But all the old-timers in my area have died or retired, and I'm having people begging me to work on their pins. Fortunately there is a lot of crossover knowledge from my tech work on the other stuff - but there is still a lot to learn about these pinball machines. I pulled the entire power supply & transformer board from a customer's Stern today, because it is so badly buggered up. Someone tried soldering direct to the header pins & really botched it up. I'm going to install new headers and connectors, and the No. 44 bulbs are going to be swapped out for LED to spare the new connectors. Do you have a preferred source for LED replacements?

Ray is a renaissance man. A dying breed. A true professional. Excellent video.
Would you consider adding a molex plug in that circumstance, between the transformer and the rectifier board? I thought it might make soldering in the new board easier if you didn't have to be inside the cabinet.

The mudslinging does nothing but expose the dirt on you and you loose a lot of ground in the process.
Ray, you're a class act! You avoid it altogether. Good on you. I really appreciate your videos. Excellent information nuggets in each one.
Silly question about the splices...Certainly running new wiring all the way back to the transformer is the best fix. How acceptable would it have been to install a molex plug in place of the splices?

The mystery behind the cutting of the wires. The only answer is they cut the wires to get the board out to modify/Macgyver,
just missing the paper clip and duct tape.
I can tell the passion for pinball and preserving/improving the older versions of pinball in this video.

I have learned that I sold a Bobby Orr pinball machine for $500 because it was not working ,the buyer told me he repairs them and now I can see he got a $2,500 pinball machine from me with a fairly easy fix.

Great insight! i have a an issue with my Flight 2000, on the rectifier board it keeps blowing F4 (7a slow Blo ) Coil - 43 VDC on i turn it on. I have GI lights working when turned on, but no flashes on the mpu(which i guess is due to the first part of my question) so i unplugged all the headers from the solenoid, light board and mpu board , turned it on again..and it stil blew, so am guessing i need a new rectifier board?? , (havent pulled this out yet) or is there anything i could try?..am based in UK England.thanks

Regarding the cut wires, I believe it was made for ease (or poor craftsmanship)
of soldering. cut all the wires, solder the board on the workbench. Then splice
the wires back with some crimp tubing as inslulation....
That is what i think happened.

Saddest day in my life is when Williams called it quits. I think they should have cut back. Most pins I love are from Williams. Ray is like me a perfectionist. Good work Ray.

Williams took all of their capital that was going into pinball and re allocated those assets into slot machines and gambling.

They all had their strengths and weaknesses. Williams bought out Bally in 86 and Bally bought out midway in 83 so if you liked Williams at the end you really liked Bally Williams and midway.

A lot of the same people who were at Williams are now at Stern, or jersey Jack Chicago pinball or any of the others that have sprung up in the last couple years. Enjoy it it's a pinball Renaissance, I know I have been buying my own pinballs since 1976. It's always been boom followed by bust I'm not sure why. There is a lot of innovation that goes on during a boom. During a bust the pinballs suck.

Somewhere someone must have said that it's ok to chop the wires. I ran into that same set of chopped wires in a stern catacomb and a stern split second.

If you are ant attention to detail homeowner and know which end of a solder gun to hold. It's really simple all be it time-consuming to do it right. It just takes time to order parts and you don't have to jack with it again. I spend more time bringing my games back to where they should be correcting field hacks than I do "fixing" game issues.

thanks for "manning up" & owning one of the above thumbs down. we appreciate your watching & sharing - even negative stuff - it's deserved in this case. we've been trading blows with those... folks over there for awhile. it all started when they affectionately renamed us "back wall of the hardware store" in their eBay ads. they kept taking shots, increasing in intensity recently. so... back at 'em. they're an easy target with years of documented shoddy workmanship & aggravated customers. eh...

Damn, it's crazy to hear somebody talking crap about TNT. I've been watching their videos for a while now and they seem to do quality work. Todd clearly knows his shit and also seems to be all about quality. The trash talk on their part seems a bit annoying and unwarranted. But it's important to realize that there are two sides to every story. So until I see some evidence(not second hand stories), I'll have to give them the benefit of the doubt. Btw, I really enjoy these videos a lot. Thanks for taking the time to do them.

Gameroom Collectibles / Pinball That was fast! I haven't even finished the video yet lol. Well the more I'm hearing from this video, the more credible it sounds. But I'd still like to hear what Todd has to say about these things. At any rate, keep up the good work! I'm about to do a complete restoration of my Whirlwind, so I've been looking to these videos for information. It's my first, and probably last, restoration. So I'll need all the help I can get.

Well , He ripped me off .. twice. don't let the videos fool you. I just simply will never do biz with TnT again.
Here you have it, the other side of the story. Bought a refurbished pac board from him for 130 bux. it didn't work.
I sent it back (start adding the shipping on top of price of board) he sends me a busted Ms pac board? wtf? I bought a pac man board for a pac man machine. I call him up yet again.. he sends me the original blown pac board I sent back the first time! on the phone he says he has hundreds of refurbed pac boards! wtf? so after blowing $80 bux on a sketchy wg4600 monitor chassis rebuild.. I got taken for $180 total. he refunds me 50 bux? He blames 3 employees and says he fired them. I had to give that 50 bux to another person to just fix the blown out so called refurb board... Now you know and have a nice day!

Id say he would have cut the wires to join them on the board away from the machine due to being more detailed, then just join the wires then heatshrink.

Just do a good job, let your work do the talking.

I think they have replaced the transformer at Some time, thus the shrink wiring,to lazy to disconnect the board

They cut all the wires to remove the board for work. Poor way to go about it for sure.
