I was 8 watching the start of the race with my father at turn one. I remember the crash vividly. He was furious walking back to the pits with the broken half shaft. A photo was taken of Hulme that won awards. The cameraman had to been only a few feet from me. How I miss those cars. I got Donahue’s autograph in ‘73. He was was very nice and he had his mother give me some stickers. I cried when he died. That Porsche was the greatest race car ever. 60 now and it’s all still vivid. If the film was clear I would be able to see myself.

The only thing my dad liked about living in Ohio was this tack and the incredible racing it hosted in the 60s and 70s when we lived there.

McLaren ended the Canadian American Racing Series with an 8.8 liter Chvey V8. It was estimated the engine produced 800 to 900 horse power.
Four fenders, two seats, an unlimited formula. The series paid more than formula 1, was faster and more amazing NO ONE was killed during those glory days. Bruce McLaren was killed in testing in the UK. TK

The 917 Porsches produced 1,000 to 1,200 horses out of a twin turbo flat 12. k>
