This is really clearly Anette´s song, I cannot imagine anybody else doing this. Her voice makes that creepy feeling, what there should be in this song.
Tuomas, he is just master composer, pure genius. He has made so much awesome music for us and lot of different types. Like this song, no other NW music is similar...
All Nightwish members did good job in this song, every each of them. How you cannot love this kind of talent!!! It is pure magic what they creates!!!!

Tru dat. Imaginaerium and Dark Passion Play are my favourite albums, mostly because group drifted towards the heavier sound, and on songs like this Anette's child-like voice made supercreepy yet interesting contrast.It's sad that her live performances gave her such a bad rep, she is a good singer.
@@ik3rian She is a good studio singer, which is not enough for a band that lives on tour for like 600+ days every few years. And even in the studio she is not even close to Floor or Tarja quality. Always felt you could pick some random pop singer and find the same quality of voice. Good for normal bands, as she is showing with "The Dark Element" now, but a bad idea for a symphonic/opera metal band.

Main reason, i would say. You can still find some of it, like Ghost Love Score or Scaretale of course, but it's, dunno how to put it, like she lacked stamina.

Annettes new band is pretty good it’s called “the dark element”. “The ghost and the Reaper “ is a good song to start with :)
Great comment! The Dark Element is really good. I was kind of surprised when it showed up in my recommendations one day and I was not disappointed. Tarja was my introduction to Nightwish in 2004, but Anette hooked me back in around 2012 after I had forgotten the band. I love all three singers, Tarja's solo stuff, The Dark Element with Anette, and of course Revamp and Northward with Floor!
The Ghost and the Reaper is great. I also like My Sweet Mystery and the single Songs the Night Sings from the album of the same name I enjoy as well.

I truly believe that everything that’s happened with the band happened for a reason. Tarja’s solo music is incredible. My Winter Storm is one of my all time favourites. I think she’s happier creating her own sound.
Annette seems so much more comfortable in her own skin now. Her voice is being showcased at its best :)
And Floor, well her current success is speaking for itself. Our Valkyrie Warrior who there will never be the like of again.

@@jsmith1214 A lot of Nightwish fans agree that Tuomas really let loose when composing the songs for those two albums. Probably a multitude of factors; breaking off with Tarja and adapting to a new singer not least of them.
Whatever peoples' opinions on Annette in general, DPP and Imaginareum were really great albums.
The Dark Element Anette fronts with Jani ex Sonata Arctica they're hardcore.

The most underrated thing about the album imaginaerum is the movie Nightwish made as the album. The movie was the main thing of the album, jet many people know the album but dont know about the movie. Its called by the same name "Imaginaerum" its only like 90 minutes of film but I would highly recomend to check it out!!!

That movie blew me away. I was honestly not expecting much from it, but it was absolutely unforgettable.
@@shepherdoffire7002 i am a pretty new listener to Nightwish (started listening at the beginning of 2020) and i saw the Trailer of Imaginaerum like a month ago for the first time. The Trailer alone blew me away, two weeks later i watched the movie. It is one of my favorites, although it is probably not the best Movie i've ever seen. But i loved the story, the characters, and the music of course, even though when it comes to songs like Song of Myself, Storytime or I want my Tears back, i prefer the Version of Floor. But Scaretale is a Masterpiece of Anette's singing, like The Poet and the Pendulum.

Floor did sing this but it fits Anette and Anette was around for 2 albums which i think are there teo heaviest and best the video also comes from the nightwish movie imaginarium

Annette's great in this one, for me the best Annette song, it fits her perfectly.
Annette was really good on ballads. Meadows of Heaven and Slow Love Slow are really good ones that I don't think Floor or Tarja could have done better.
I saw Floor sing Slow Love Slow the first time I saw her with Nightwish, which was about a week after she joined them on tour. She did the song pretty well.
Those songs were so good. I don't think Floor or Tarja could take Scaretale away from her too. Annette has this witchy type voice for this song that no one can do better than her.

I'm super new to Nightwish (and Metal in general) This was great!! The vocals were great, the drums were fantastic, the guitar was in another world.

Cool reaction, and probably the best Nightwish song for Halloween :) Other Annette-era songs you might wanna check out at some point are The Crow, the owl and the dove, and/or Turn Loose the mermaids, or Sahara.....all of which you will probably have to find the studio versions for since there are so few vids with Annette live :) FYI, Nightwish are starting to announce dates for their tour next year - theyve announced some of the European dates so far, but the US should be coming soon Id imagine so look out for that :)
Since you are on a Halloween kick this week another band you might want to check out is Lacuna Coil - theyre from Milan, Italy, and they have a song out recently called 'Reckless', which has a very Halloween/horror feel to it :) Just a suggestion :) Theyre also another 'female-fronted' metal band, with Cristina Scabbia their singer, along with Andrea Ferro who does male growls :)

@@ChrisPage68 You have my sympathy! I live up in Scotland and, so far, they havent announced any dates at all for Glasgow 😭 - which would make this the 3rd tour where Scotland's been missed out on the UK leg of their tours......fingers crossed more UK dates are announced!

This was a fan made video combining the official live from Nightwish's channel with the Imaginaerum movie clips. There's also a Floor multi-cam version of this from the Helsinki 2012 show. From 6 weeks after she 1st sang with them.

really enjoy your reactions dude. I highly recommend you check out the band The Dark Element if you haven't already that is. Its a project started by Jani Liimatainen, formerly of Sonata Arctica. Anette Olzon is the singer. I would recommend "My Sweet Mystery" or "The Ghost and the Reaper" as a starting point. They have a new album coming out November 8th. Keep on Rocking Dude.

Helloween- Halloween
First time I listened to the album back in 2012 I said this song sounded like something from a Tim Burton movie. Most of the footage in the video is from the Nightwish movie Imaginaerum. If you haven't seen it, you should, it's well worth watching. To me it seems like a cross between a Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam movie with a score by Tuomas!
Don't know if you have already been told of this, but the album from which this song comes, Imaginaerum, was made into a movie with the same name. Not a music video, but an actual movie. Most images of this video come from the movie. It's obviously a special kind of movie. You might like to get back to it. It's no Hollywood level of budget and special effects, of course, but it always has me tearing up at the end.
You do know that imaginaerum is not only an album, but also a movie. This is not a figure of speech, Nightwish made a movie called Imaginaerum, they are in it, this song is in, its main character is Tuomas, go watch it!

I'd give "Sahara" live a looksie at some point if you want to hear her live; it's a terribly underrated song!
(Personally, I also like how she sang Wishmaster and Nemo too, but Sahara was made for her)

This is just a really fun one with Anette and Marko. I have several favorites with her, as I joined the train during her era. Try Bye Bye Beautiful or Sahara with her (probably not live 😉).

I'm glad to see that after the years that majority have gotten off the Anette hate train. She was actually my favorite due to the fact that she's the only one I've ever gotten to see with the band and got to meet her. She was super cool and I thought she was never really going to live up to the needs and wants of the fans, her OG band Alyson Avenue is pretty decent and the Dark Element is amazing.

Yes Floor does this song but it doesn't really have the same creepy feel to it what really makes this song and brings out the creep factor is the way Annette is distorting her voice

Anette was with NW for 2 albums: Dark Passion Play, and Imaginaerum (where this song and Storytime are from). The majority of the more cinematic "Tim Burton" clips in this video are from the movie they created that followed the themes and general plot of the album (re-named slightly to avoid confusion). I HIGHLY recommend seeing the movie as it has an insane amount of symbolism in it that I'm always noticing something new and I've seen it multiple times. If you do that, I would suggest hearing the full album first, to have an idea of the themes to expect.

I've seen Anette many times live and always had amazing moments ! you can found their show in Montreux Jazz festival 2012. It's the only one song I don't like floor to sing, Anette is perfect for this one ! And Imaginaerum is one of their best album !!!! (also a movie if you didn't know)
