That took me back! Thanks mate. I had a couple of GT 500's and had one ported to TR spec and raced it. Just the sound of that motor took me all the way back to the 70's.
Brilliant what a great video I had a motorbike accident on my gt 550 left me paralysed in 1987 this made me feel like I was riding with you .I am now 59 you have made my day .I used to love my bike day .thanks again drive safe everyone
While they do not seem highly regarded by many, in comparison to the Yamaha RD's and Kawasaki KH's, I love my GT500, great sound and just a hoot to ride. A useable classic that leaves me with a grin on my face every time I ride it anywhere.
These bikes were heavily discounted in 1977 in favour of the new GS range of Bikes. And they, along with the GT380 triple, were the last 2 strokes on sale in the late 70's at bargain basement prices before they became obsolete here in the UK. You could, for example, buy a GT500 for less than a popular 250 for learners.
Yes, I remember that. At the time I was torn between the new GT500 and a second-hand car. The Ford Zephyr won, because I had too much stuff to cart about. And a girlfriend. I've never stopped biking, though.
Yeah, the original T500 went on to become the GT750. Which was just a T500 with an extra cylinder and watercooling. So, it must have been a good motor.
The rattles pops tinkles. Soo much memory’s for me. I had Suzuki Cobra drum front brake beast. Lol and Gt 500. . In fact I’ve owned all the Suzukis two strokes of the mud late 1970s. Except the Kettle or RE5 . Loved them all. My A250 air ram. I got for free best bike. SUZUKIS didn’t have fork seals just OIL SPURTS till it trickles down on the brakes. The brakes were soo bad it hardly matters it just smelt bad. Lol.
I really enjoy riding my 75 T500. I live near York, Pennsylvania and this is HD territory. Harley Davidson has a plant here. I love how my bike sounds the opposite of the normal around here. People have told me that it is smoking and must be broken. I just laugh.
I drove one for more than 50.000 km in the 80ies ... If I hear the sound, it was like yesterday. But when I think of what smoke came out of the exhaust ... better not nowadays. :-)

A guy needs to invent a time machine, if only to go back and pick up some (new) 70s and 80s bikes.
@@ZackaryMac I agree, and at 1970's
prices.
Oh the memories...God bless you.
The Suzuki T500 / GT500 was the world's 2nd 500cc 2 stroke twin. No other motorcycle manufacturer had bothered since the CZ500 2 stroke twin of 1936.

The GT750 was a liquid cooled triple, well mine was anyway ?
Not your typical two stroke riding style, I kept mine pinned to the red line.😊
c est une bonne 500 gt !!!!!! VIVA S U Z U K I !!!

Love the gt500. Working on a basket case '76 now. Amazing scenery. Where are you?. Thanks for the ride.

I once rebuilt a friend's GT500A motor .....twice, because I forgot to fit the rev counter spigot gear. Luckily, it's an easy motor to rebuild.

For me also the police said to me the GT380 is broken
Wow I had a GT 500 when I passed my test in 81.

My favourite ever bike and they weren't even that fast. Even the pre-powervalve 350LCs were faster.
