Dub Poetry!!!
He watch what he eats and cooks his own food. 😊 And he speaks the truth.

To Reggaeroots 1693: I've got to change my computer monitor.
Big Youth. Is the most underrated veteran artist . This man have some wicked wicked music.
💯💯💯💥💥💥
True I,he is ,but he looking great still,I always remember Big Youth is WHY ah lot of man start to put diamonds on their teeth, and nuff gold teeth,I am from Trinidad living in foreign, I am 60 yrs now ,and still have my gold teeth,RESPECT TO BIG YOUTH, He is ah real original. GENERAL
X umm me and miii it makes it
@@trinimungz To Trinymungz: I prefer gold in their teeth rather than earrings on men's ears, and long hair -- saying they're straight and not *coming out.*
Dem man yah need atleast a hour an half fi interview, dis too short but mi appreciate 🙏 it still, truly one of our icon ❤️
I first saw Big Youth in Rockers movie. My first reggae albums Big Youth is Screaming Target, Natty Cultural Dread, lsaiah First Prophet of Old and the rest followed till Musicology. My all time favorite Dj, lcon and Legend Jah Youth. Live up Rastaman . Ten against One was a hit here in Azania (South Africa 🇿🇦) in the 80s.
…figuratively speaking everyone keep saying Marley this Marley that…but Bob never claimed to be the first to do this or do that…he was one of the cornerstones and it so happened that, through hard work, perseverance and temperament, an important quality that many of our artists lack, his star shined the brightest, even today, nevertheless, I saw Big Youth and Culture once at a former venue called My Father’s Place in Roslyn NY…it was a splendid show! Today I’d rather listen Big Youth, Dillinger and the now deceased Trinity for example than the nonsense we’re hearing currently from so-called “dancehall” or Reggae artists, save a few…much raspect Big Youth, your works are well recorded!
The major move that really catapulted The Wailers to international stardom , along with " hard work, perseverance and temperament" was signing to Island Records and being packaged as a self contained band with an eye catching album cover.. If it had been Toots and The Maytals or even Culture IMO I think they might have garnered as much worldwide popularity as The Wailers. But the Wailers were superb and the first.
Well veresd n eloquently phrased
,
Some people are born to do what they do in life (destiny)!
But you, Big Youth, were created by TMH to deliver 'wisdom nuggets' to the people!! And what a job you've done at it!!
You're a LEGEND indeed!!
Continued success, my brother!!🎶🎤🎵💯
To PW 7493, Seems as such: seemingly going against the grain with desires but lacking backing, management, and a support system digs one deeper into disillusionment.
The interviewer not ready!! Give the man the chance to speak his truth!!
🇯🇲Big Youth,🦁🎤🎶❤ original, legend, one of a kind...Jah Jah Jah ahwah wah wah?....Jah🇯🇲

The great great Big Youthso good to hear such a powerful speech from you ,
One of the most illustrious musical artists to ever come out of The Yard. Amazing that this legend is still around and doing his thing on the Old School circuit. (My first Youth experience was as a youth (pun intended) in 1982 when I got myself a copy of Natty Cultural Dread from the shop using my early paycheck at age 19!)
"Who can deny that you and I and every nigga is a star " ❤️ 💚 💛
Big youth was the first reggae superstar ! Manley Buchanan
It's extremely TOUGH to name my favourite Big Youth tune or a top 10.
But I would go something like this:
1. Screaming Target (for Gussie Clarke)
2. Cool Breeze (for Derrick Harriot)
3. Revolution Rock (for Prince Buster)
4. Chi Chi Run (for Prince Buster)
5. Sky Juice (self produced)
6. Keep On Moving (for Lee Perry)
7. S90 Skank (for Keith Hudson)
8. Four Aces (for Niney Holness)
9. Phil Pratt Thing (for Phil Pratt)
10. Ah So We Stay (for Joe Gibbs)
I'll do a top 20 soon. Big up Icon Jah Youth and I Never Knew TV.❤️💛💚🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿🎤🎤🎤

Big Youth you said it all: Michael Manley was an inspiration for self reliance
Is that why more people left Jamaica between 1976-1980 than any other time ?
@@gdonson4440Lest we forget the USA was flooding the streets with guns and ammunition…
@@gdonson4440they left Jamaica because they was JLP propaganda and a determined effort by both in collaboration with the CIA to destabilise the govt of the time with the lies.

Wha dem a seh, “Accolades”.
Long time, I a man , sit down , ‘pon de wall. Fe watch me supa hero.
I am the white guy, guitar playa, having fostered the Loose Caboose (of reggae)music w/Ras Jahn Bullock, cousin of Tina Turner, a.k.a. Ina May Bullock.
Big Youth , like many, did set Large standards for all a we, who listen, absorb, and reflect, a sense of musical ‘sponsability’, to the root of ‘I and I cause, as Marcus Garvey ,so kindly expressed to WE. Hear me now.!
At the first light of 1980, I did encounter de Youth, among the leafage in Bob’s Hope road, meet up @ 9am . We wait fe Juicy, who was to bring the Manna, to the breddren assembled.
Like a dream, Gregory Issac , was in wait, Big Youth did as well, mey be, that I spent an hour+ with Winston Rodney, who did lift me up, and did think , I worthy of his wisdom and teachings. I had studied Garvey’s ghost, de music, to teach m’self, piano/keyboard, so that , in his presence, I asked proper quests. Jacob Miller, showed himself, to we, and we reasoned for 20 minutes, when Ras Jahn come out the bush in Bob’s yard. Spear immediately likened them to cousins, in a mirror.
Few times in my life meant more to me, as a spiritual, and I-ducational fountain. Ziggy and Steven were 11 and 9, with respect. Horsemouth Wallace, was freely teaching cultural, drum rhythm, while Third World, carried out the 4th album of their series. Cat and Ibo, asked why we brought (such) a good demo to show, in front of Colin Leslie, and I-and I reply, that Jam dung production was a prescription, for the covenant. Nods, praises, and Geoffrey Chung, agreed.

From me see Big Youth mash up Third World concert one night...it was clear who the real King of Reggae Dub was inuh! Man all flop out the nowadays fashion dreadz them. They made a mistake and out him on 3rd in the show. When him done perform, the show was over. Want see the rinse out dread dem a battle fi life to blow wow smh. When Big Youth rise I Pray Thee, better everybody did pack up after that. LEGEND!!!
GREATER then BOB MARLEY inna my EYES 👀🇹🇹💯❤️💛💚🖤 and Bob was a ledgen recognize this ELDER!!!!!!💯🇹🇹 Star 🌟✨🌟✨🌟✨
That's quite arbitrary. Big youth is a legend and one of the best Reggae artiste of the 1970's. However, when one compares the two, Bob outsold him and had more hits that stood the test of time. Earnings-wise, Bob garnered more wealth than Big Youth. Looking at the Numbers, it is fair to say that Bob Marley was greater than Big Youth.
@@elgranjero2284 correct!!!
Big youth was my father in the music business screaming target was one of my first album when you are there from the beginning there is nothing better
All dem bloodclaat deh man affi a go tru because him a speak his mind 'gainst babylon. It's the same fucking 'ting dem duh to Peter Tosh - every day!!
Hey, I wonda if nuff man did know seh inna di early 70's when 'Jah Youth' buss, he was more popular than Bob Marley. He was even more popular than the Prime Minister of the day.
I remember back in those days when yuh look at the weekly newspapers (The Gleaner & The Star) articles on top of articles were spread across its pages highlighting things about Big Youth like no other. One particular headline I can recall reads:- "The Phenomenal Big Youth". That indeed spoke volume for the artistry of the man. I was only 15 at the time.
Big Youth is a cultural icon, that should be revered.
