Give him huge credit for taking off on that bomb.... on a SKIMBOARD! He made the drop but just couldn’t get that little thing to turn. That’s commitment!!
mad respect to the water safety guys on the jet skis. braddahs taking care all the "ALL BALLS, NO BRAIN" guys out there. to work in that ain't day at the lake with Becky and the whiteclaw crew for sure.
@@FourFront99 Nah, not like everyone out there and not pushing boundaries. How can it be a sport with just one person doing it? There is a reason why you only see Brad doing this stuff and not any locals who surf there for a living. Who is he competing against in the sport of "getting towed in on a finless, super short board, until you run out of speed and the wave swallows you"? His ride at Puerto Escondido years ago put him on the radar bc he actually got barreled, but waves like Jaws and Mavs are different beasts than a huge shore break in mainland Mex.
I was going off the much-maligned Hawaiian measurement system. Y'know, where they describe a wave height in terms of the swell itself, rather than the height of the face.
Yeah totally a legend at jaws. We all praise him the minute he gets off the plane in kahalui to get towed into an unmakeable wave with a modified skimboard while wearing a floatation vest with a cord he can pull any second after not making a wave he knew he wasn't going to make. /s
I'd call that the worst wipeout you could possibly have. (at bottom of wave) That's exactly where NOT to fall. Glad they rescued him. Maybe he sacrificed his board, but not his life.
Definately an A+ for courage and effort, Brad, but that board you used at Puerto Escondido might have done better for you. The problem is the chops on the face at jaws, so having a really good fin set up on the board is imperative, if you take off deep like that on a gnarly windy day, and need to get your board to transverse the long massive tube and ride high enough not get picked off by the monstrous chandeliers falling from the massive incisor teeth in the lip. That's the hardest thing to do out there when it's big and windy, is break free fall and runaway freight car syndrome and hook into the wall against all odds at max speed, and run the gauntlet. However, if that swell had been during a dead glass spell, with no wind chop for weeks, jaws can get totally Malia as we say here, but it's very rare. But in those conditions, you might have been able to get a toe hold on it like you have done at huge Puerto, and this would have been a different story. But you are awesome for getting out there and laying it down and going for it. You lived and learned to fight another day.

bit tough to set that rail, i bet. is it a rail, or edge, w/ a skimboard...?

Actually, skimboarding Niagra Falls ;p
Watching from Southern California crazy huge 🤙
