Hey Robert, my daughter has a 99 s80 t6 that she loves to pieces, and has watched your videos, she even replaced the heater core by herself!!! So both of us want to say thanks and ask what is the bolt size on the receiver? her passenger belt works fine but won't click in to the receiver, so we're going to search junk yards for a replacement. Thanks again

Hi Robert, I have a 1994 volvo 850 sedan, 2.4 litre. Recently, it started leaking antifreeze from heater core inside the cabin. A week ago, the leak became out of control and the carpet and under it were totally soaked. I used garage vaccumm to suck the antifreeze, but the carpet, and probabely under the carpet, is still feels oily from antifreeze. Is there anyway to clean the antifreeze without removing the carpet? The whole carpet in front and back were totally affected. What is you best suggestion to make it clean again?

Either get the VIDA software to clear the error and program the seat to the system or take the vehicle somewhere to have it done.

Robert, as mentioned SUPER helpful videos. Question, I have a 2010 Volvo XC60 which has a power passenger side seat that has just stopped reclining with no noise from the motor. Anything you can post on how to fix this? I watched the 850 vid but my car is quite a bit different so wasn't enough similarities for me to go on. Anything you can tell would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Fritz Desir Most likely the switch has gone bad. Try to check it for power going through it to the motor.

You will have to access the inside or back of the switch or the wires come to and from it. Then check for power with an ohm meter.

Hi Robert! Great vids! I have a 97 Volvo 960. It has a Clarion aftermarket radio. The previous owner installed it and did a poor job and believe it is causing a power drain.. The problem is, when I shut the car off, the heater, radio stay on unless I turn them off, and I can turn them on without the key in the ignition. If i remove and reset the fuse, it automatically shuts off, but then after a short time, it will be back to the old way. It obviously drains the battery, but I am sure the radio is causing it. Any idea how I can figure out exactly where the open circuit is causing the drain??

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  9 років тому

+Jon DLT I would seek a proper harness and restore the old wiring back to it's original condition. Radio's have 2 power circuits, one for standby power and the other to power the unit. I'm sure that is messed up in the hack job that was done. Not sure what to tell you beyond that. I can send you a picture or two of OEM wiring harness if you need me to.

Hey Robert, in advance I want to thank you. I’m just getting in these Cars (v70XC 99) and you are becomming a sort of online mentor for me.
Now I do have a question. On the passenger side the seat is manual adjusted. How do I get the adjuster knobs (ten plastic part you pull on that is attached to an iron rod) of so I can remove the plastic side cover?
By the way. On the V70 Models you do not need to remove the plastic sice cover to remove the seatbelt. Just remove the four bolts from the seat, move the seat over and reach in with a torx screwdriver.

This one is manual adjusted and I can not fine any way to detach the plastic part from the metaal rod. Therefore I’m not able to remove the plastic sice cover of the seat. Good to know:
If you take off the rails of the frontseats of an 850/855, s/v70 (1997 to 2000), they will look the same (have the same V shape for the bearings) as the early s80, V70, and s60 frontseats witout it´s rails. (The mounted rails differs, but not the curved V shape from the bottom of the seats where the bearing rolls). So if you have worn out 850/855, s/v70 seats, you can take them out of your car, take a hammer and a don and make the rails come off, take seats from i.e a S80 from say 2001, and put your old rails on them and mount them in your car.
    Important:
    1. s/v70 from 1997 to 1998, no problem with flashing SIPS warning light, because the ABS system does not comunicate with the bag in the chair, since that is set off by impact via pyrotech explosion gadget in the bottom doorside of the seat.
    2. S/70 1999, 2000, You will have SIPS warning, but if you solder a resistor (you have to have one with the correct ohm) at the end of the contact, you will fool the system that there is a bag installed, and it´s ok.
    3. AT YOUR OWN RISK! 1:1) Always disconnect the battery cables and wait for 1h before disconnecting contacts. 1:2) Dont try to connect abs-cables to the new seats, and it also does not fit. 1:3) IF YOU HAD AIRBAGS IN THE CHAIRS BEFORE THEY ARE NOT WORKING NOW. Is it worth it??? If you take the risk it is up to you but you have to inform others if they buy your car.
I DON´T ENCOURAGES ANYONE TO DO THIS OR TAKE ANY RESPONIBILITIES IF YOU DO - JUST WANT TO SPREAD SOME INFORMATION ABOUT IT.
Robert, do you know when the V shape on the bottom of the seats were changed for s60, v70, and s80?
