Ok, this thing needs more information for those who dont know. Its a closed system where you must use their resin. You cant adjust cure times, lift speeds, etc. So the ONLY option is, select printer, select which of their resins is in use, select the vat type, and select what layer height you want (50micron or 30micron, no other choices). Then you MUST use that slicer to send to the printer. You must also log in to their servers to use the slicer. The cheapest resin they sell, is currently $45 a liter. Also, the entire system shown here, for a 10.3" screen at 8k, is over $2000. This gives you the pulse release, wash station, cure station, and printer with heated vat. An elegoo saturn 4 ultra, with a mercury x wash station, is $400 + $180. You do the math, but i have a hard time justifying everything shown here at these prices. Fot a proprietary closed resin system, where if heygears decides to close shop you cant buy resin for. This isnt a review, honestly, this video was fluff and with no mention of price, closed system that other resins cannot be used with, their slicer login requirements, its a disservice to your viewers.
This should be the top comment. Not saying it was intentional, but these "first look" videos feel way too product marketing focused without any additional details that should be important if you are considering a resin printer.
Lots more info coming. I had it for a week when this was shot - my actual first prints with it were the ones I made. Making more once back in town and I’ll go over much more information.
Not a single word about how this printer is completely locked down? No word about how you can't change any of the slicing parameters to be able to use any other resin than theirs? How you MUST log on to the slicer (which is running locally on your machine)? No discussion about what can happen to you printer if the manufacturer shuts down? Hopefully you'll have a proper review where you highlight these problems.
Yeah! What an amazing print of my little house model! Thank you David! Your footage is now the best footage I have of this model! Clearly I need to get myself a smoke machine! (Cuz that’s the only difference) I’d love to see your paint job. Thanks Joel!
Great video Joel.Never spray activator on second part and put together,if you misalign it your screwed.Super glue it, put together then spray activator on the part.Lesson learned a long time ago.
Hi!! could you please share the dimensions of the box the printer came in ? does the pulse release module come separately packed? I intend to get this freight forwarded to Singapore, so the dimensions of the box and weight of the package will really help with cost planning! Much appreciated.
Im need print a small gear for repari the instrument cluster of my car and i have a question. What type of 3d printer i need to print these gear considering the temperatures that can be reached inside a car in summer ( up to 158º Fahrenheit in full sun) ? It would be my first 3D printer, so I'm a total novice.
for painting... i would suggest you get someone who does this a lot to do it... maybe even reprint and get the separate parts painted then join together after
About who should paint the house? Let both paint a copy of the house, but set a time-limit (e.g. 3 hours) and make a video of it. Show us the different results and the different techniques you used to get there. 🙏😊
Hey Joel! 👋 Nice System!👍 A nice Yoda or Grogu would be Awesome on that machine! 😁 The possibilities are almost limitless! 🤯 Thanks. Mike in San Diego! 🌞🎸🚀🖖 With a Sister in Ballard👍
"Send it to the machine" is that some cloud BS which requires an Internet connection or all locally within your own network? How about some details on how this kind of stuff works as more and more companies think it is OK to totally lock their devices down for which WE PAY FOR! Not even HP is as bad as some 3D printer manufacturers.
I may be mistaken, but my understanding is that you do need the internet connection to actually use the slicer, you can't see the sliced files you have available to send since that list is on their servers. But the sliced model itself can be sent via LAN without it going to Heygears servers (They may still send a message to heygears to notify them that you are printing something, I can't test that, but the model data wouldn't be included.)
@@threecreepio First of all, I don’t understand why everyone is so fixated on offline usage. Heige has promised that our model files and materials won’t be accessed without our permission; the only time they will be used is when we authorize them to upload issue analyses for after-sales support. Additionally, Heige has officially committed to releasing an offline version this December, although I personally think that it won’t be widely used
Very interesting video, thank you. I've had a resin printer for about 2 years and have not tried it yet!! I'm waiting for the right project or a little more courage. Thanks again for you informative videos.
If it was up to me. I'd be turning the Jack Skellington House into a garden peace. Sale it up Find a way to turn the house into a functioning bird house and place it outside.
If one could make a resin that hardened with different colors depending on what kind frequency of light and they had a lighting solution that could change frequency. The masking should work the same.
@Jimunu I suppose some sort of multi feed, too, with really good retraction! Maybe some sort of automatic wiper between layers to get rid of excess resin into a drip tank could maybe something I could imagine! I'm sure if enough of us puts an idea forward someone's inventive imagination will click!
It really seems like every video on the HeyGears Reflex seems to have the same marketing terms. Clearly everyone is running off some script there. Not saying the printer isn't good. Maybe it is great. It just seems like every reviewer is saying the same lines to the point where nothing is very objective. :/
Uhhh Joel.. NO! Ok is probably a sponsored video. Not OK not highlighting the HUGE barriers this completely locked printer has and slams its customer for.. Very unprofessional, I loved your charity fundraising, sent money, had fun with many of your videos but I do not condone THIS and I take back my "follow".
Be warmed, this machine is locked to its slicer, and the slicer requires an active login. If their server is unavailable for any reason, your machine is bricked. Also, it is reliant on their own brand of resin. I wouldn't go near this thing.
I’ve heard that they will launch an offline version by the end of this year. Can we give the closed-loop system a bit more leeway? After all, not every manufacturer has the economic resources and technical expertise to tackle this issue😅
That flat top build plate is a bad design. Practically every other printer has angled tops or drain holes. Also, why say “zee or zed”? Can we just use one or the other? 👍
I think you need to stay in your lane - aka FDM printing. You covered nothing of interest in this review. I know exactly nothing about the Heygears printer after watching this except that their build plate is a terrible design and just like 99% of all resin printers, it does a really great job.

@@AdamMann3D Yep, this was a sponsored video by HeyGears. It's not a review, it's my first look at it. Woooooo.

Bring this to SMRRF, we can do some painting.
The multicolor mention for the house I wonder if that is because it can be color printed with an AMS
The house looks fantastic 👌
I agree!
Print a few more. You paint one, maybe Syd and/or David paint one. Then a pro friend paint one? That'd be fun?
Ooh there is an idea.
I think you could get a lot of rage comments if you paint it yourself which would be great for additional visibility of your videos. Just sayin' 😉
Hahahaha

I would paint it, but with your connections in this space, there is probably a cool co-lab you could do with a prop painter -🤷♂
Hey Joel I think it would be good if you posted a video of you painting the house model

You could print a nice TIE Bomber on that machine :)
What do you use to make your designs

I didn’t make these, I downloaded them. Links provided in the description
You should print a hula-skirt attachment for the hula machine
OMG YESSS
Are you gonna be at 3Dprintopia/ERRF tomorrow?
Sure am!
The correct answer is the Uniformation GK3.
Print another Jack house. Paint one and have someone else paint the second. That way you also gain some painting skills
to paint it you should combine airbrushing with regular painting

I absolutely hate the move towards closed print ecosystems. Really sad because this seems like a nice little system & the prints seemed quite nice.
