Brilliant video with spectacular finds! Those yellow morph Batane's Pit Vipers are absolutely gorgeous, as is the Blue-Lipped Sea Krait! Eagerly looking forward to Part 2!
The black & yellow are definitely cool, but that bitey black & white one was a absolute ripper!! Now I've been waiting all week for you to post so I could test your brain. On a Facebook video this week I saw a random 10sec clip of a snake, black with yellow bands & bright white belly. Now the crazy part is this snake was coiled head to tail in a hoop & spinning as fast as it could flashing black, white, black, white. It was absolutely the coolest defensive display I've ever seen from any snake EVER!! It was definitely in Southeast Asia from the people talking in the background & im guessing it was some kind of Lycodon. Just wondering if you've ever seen anything like this in person or could tell me for sure what snake it was from the shitty description I gave ya?? One thing I can say is if you can ever catch this behavior on film it would be amazing!!
The rarest ones are the pure white vipers which are also endemic to that island. It is not the result of albino or defects on the genes but just a breed that is pure white. Unfortunately, their kind is very lucrative in the black market and their numbers are dwindling.
Nice job man! You’d be surprised by how well that black & grey pattern will blend into shadows & vegetation during the day time. Also, that was an absolute smoke show for mcgregori
I never you’d visit The Philippines let alone Batanes group of Islands which is famous for its colorful pit vipers most notably the white mcgregor’s pitviper.
These batanes pit vipers are endemic to batanes and also endangered because there was a time when foreign people ( filipinos and none filipinos) comes to batanes and pouches them. It was sad
🔥🔥🔥
Fantastic trip guys. All specimens were unique. But as a ratsnake enthusiast, that red tailed ratsnake was a home run for me.
