I actually described Dendrelaphis levitoni ( on the basis of preserved museum specimens). But I never saw a living specimen, so wonderful to see one on your chanel! Loved all the other stuff as well
I watch ur video...bout batanes island... Very rare u will see white viper and red viper macgregor..bcoz of poaching.. ur lucky if u see one.. u should go also samar u will find different kind of cobra...still some snake in Palawan undiscovered.. we have alot of mountain in Philippines still mostly animal un discovered and un named yet...like sierra Madre in north...
Love the vid! If you ever think of going to Luzon, I highly recommend Mt. Makiling in Los Baños, Laguna. Due to its megadiverse environment, you'd definitely find a lot of herps, from pit vipers (most common) to king cobras, and other sorts of plants like the famous rafflesia. I've been hiking there nonstop, and its beauty never fails to disappoint me. Well, the king cobra is always my main goal, and gladly, I saw my first one last January. It's a must-visit for herpers :)
You can always contact the University of the Philippines, Los Baños (UPLB Makiling Center for Mountain Ecosystems) for other inquiries, like the distribution of permits to access the area for a specific timeframe-well, at least that's what we did last January (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.). But right now, I believe they are accepting evening hikes (1 a.m. onward). I'm not quite sure, so I guess you should contact them.
in water makes a very good repellent if you soak a cloth in it. You probably know already but in Surat Thai, Ranong and Phang Nga the leeches are prolific. I've had a dozen or more on my shoes and in my shoes just taking a piss sometimes. An oversock tied above the boot and hanging down will stop most of them. The species you showed is very different from the species I know, the thing about being bitten is how much it itches for the next few days.

Awesome! I believe they are quite common in disturbed habitat in the lowlands, so should be easy to find if you ever visit.
Found this channel a few days ago, enjoying the videos. I'm inspired to go flipping for some copperheads when the weather warms up. Stay safe!
I know it wasn’t the main target but I really think the Temple Vipers are super cool looking!

Great work guys 👏
Pleasure as always! Crazy vipers!

I have that one on my radar for later this year. I thought the area was closed at night though?

where is david these days
Just chilling in Thailand. We still do tours and herp together.
@@RupertsReptiles has David quit UA-cam.
@@simonashdown6684 don’t think so
Rupert, none of you seem to be wearing leech socks.
Do you have any ?
Do you use tobacco juice to keep them away ?
Nah tucked in socks and rubber boots do the trick most of the time. This area had very little leaches anyway.
@@RupertsReptiles Thanks. Tobaco soaked
