"I drank recently by the way" That line was delivered perfectly.
lmao!
I totally agree! Perfection!
And Bowen’s quiet “what?”
@@TheBrothersMurph Loud or subdued, Bowen always kills it
🤣🤣🤣
"im here to research a role & also i may be an alcoholic" lmao
This was one where you weren't sure if it would be any good, but the throw away lines make it. "I drank recently, by the way," is an absolute killer.
I bet money in five years, this is made into a movie. Not a bad idea.
@@kendrickwilliams3280 id watch it. Lol. I love pixar
That line got me good, as did Jack trying to pull it together after
@@Pete_Finch I know I'm not the only one to say this, but one of the best things about SNL is watching people trying not to break
He totally almost broke after he said that line… hilarious 😂
Cecily’s gruff and unexpected, “what about the song” had me wheezing
THANK YOU!!! 🙌🏽 I snorted at that line 😂😂😂😂😅😅
I was eating and nearly chocked 😅😂😂😂
Same... Am like= I KNOW that character!!!... I have met her (& feel like Cecily may have also! ☺)
😂😂😂
Kate McKinnon would have rocked this
Okay, but this sketch is surprisingly wholesome. The entire meeting put aside their problems and differences to help try making Jessie's movie idea a reality.
If only home group business meetings could go this smoothly.
@@GoTouchGrassDAC the timer would have gone off on his share three minutes into his speech and the person with the longest sobriety in the room would firmly look him in the eyes and say "KEEP COMING BACK" lmao
@@Topaz_Estrella hahaha 🤣 right?!
Really? I think the sketch was pretty dark.
The group blatantly ignored the guy’s relapse in order to benefit from his creativity.
@@dustinairola4301 It's a sketch on a comedy show. Take it less seriously.
Cecile coming out of that dark corner saying “what about the song?” Had me 🤣🤣🤣
Love this skit! The Tom Hanks appearance was the perfect final touch. Finally, with all due respect, this movie is a job for Dreamworks.
I can honestly say a Dreamworks film mocking a Pixar style film literally starring Tom Hanks would be hilarious
@@peggymoexd We're long overdue a good 'the industry sending itself' up film - the last one that really made waves was The Player I think...
Lol, it is
No, Dreamworks could never do it justice.
Ha, the Dreamworks line would have been a good one for Tom hanks at the end of the skit.
Tbh Jack has been one of the best musical host they’ve had. His acting is flawless. So many crack so easily. His composure for someone who’s main thing is music, it’s insane to me.
I know! He’s so good
He's a far better actor than musician
@@clintbouscher9399Lol why do you say that
Your standards are pretty low, huh
@@FaithLikeNoOther I dont think the dude with the earring understands the jokes, but he can sound out the letters on the cue cards, and that makes him a good host and actor and I will have all of his children just as soon as I get approved for the surgery
This was one of the cutest, funniest skits I've seen on Saturday Night Live in a long time. My brother and I used to watch SNL when we were kids and a lot of skits were memorable like this one....Funny and repeat worthy. Tom Hanks was great in it! Bravo, SNL!
[in Lorne Michaels voice:] "Hmm, perhaps this week, another AA meeting movie pitch sketch?"
Reminds of a lot of 70s sketches. Absurdly wholesome. Like the loud family.
same here... this was such a good skit! ...everybody played great roles and it was just perfect
I’m quite surprised that Jack Harlow is genuinely a really good actor. He killed every skit and is extremely natural
Pixar probably thinking: “Hmm interesting 🤔”
Tom Hanks?
I want to see this movie!
Oh, great. SNL stole another idea from someone.
The villain should be a fanny pack
Bro I'm ready for this movie 🎬
Jack can act! and when he almost broke with laughter after "I drank recently by the way" made it even better.
The “I drank recently, by the way” line had me dead 😂😂 so subtle
"Can I be in the movie?"
"No, but get this-"
The delivery on that one absolutely killed me
@@asmrcowboy Killed me!!!
This sketch gives me hope for the future of SNL; this has been a really rough rebuilding season, but they’ve still got it. They just gotta *pack themselves with love.*
Wow, you're being that morbid about the season just four shows in?
@@eclectica1they were right
Kind of need this to be a real movie now
Give it a year or two.
YES! I KNOW, right? It has potential. And I want that song, those bags and plot and so on.
:) It's execution-dependent, but the pitch is clearly fertile.
I can see it now….
They’d greet each other with, “How’s it rollin’?” and the old, crass bags would remark, “A little to the left! 😆”
Defictionalization.
Funnily enough, Pixar has actually made an animated short about a similar concept to the one being discussed in this video. It's called "Lou" and it's about items in the lost and found bin trying to return to their owners. It's very touching and while different form the film pitched here, it still deals with that underlying theme of wanting to return home.
awe thats adorable!
just watched it--thanks! very sweet, and some really great visual bits =)
Luggy was a movie that had baggage trying to find their owners from an airport. The sketch writers probably got the idea from Luggy.
This needs to be a movie. Not their pitch, but these AA members traveling cross country, battling their demons, becoming friends, and finally, in the last scene, pitching it to Pixar, like the end of the Muppet Movie. I suppose Tom H. can be in it too. He seems a decent sort.
Their pitch should be a movie. Your pitch should ALSO be a movie.
I'm not so sure about that Tom H guy, I think he might be an alcoholic...
@@ryshow9118 He's in recovery though. Just takin' it one day at a time.
DUDE THATS PERFECT
That’s great. And “Tom H.” Is just some little tag-along! 😂😂😂
Cecily's first line is everything.
Literally how every Pixar movie is made. In an addiction recovery program. 😆
This comment needs MORE LIKES 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️
That's not true. But it should be.
As a former addiction therapist, I can guarantee that addicts & alcoholics are some of the most creative & intelligent individuals on the planet!!!... I used to say that if we all stay clean & sober... putting all the energy that once went towards finding a means to intoxication, towards a worthwhile project (i.e.: art, music, writing, or volunteering / helping others), then there is nothing we can't accomplish!
@@BlairMountainNetwork not surprising to me at all. If we could provide safe, supportive environments for more people and provide the care needed for personal growth, we would all benefit.
"I was hanging my head over the toilet, hating myself for giving in again to the bottle, when I had this idea about a rat that teaches a guy how to cook by controlling him like a human Gundam."
“Can I be in the movie?”
“No, but get this.” 😂😂😂😅😅😅
Kenan was the star here until Cecily piped in with the song - pack yourself with love and then the surprise of Tom Hanks was everything
You mean David Pumpkins ?
No he wasn’t he’s always just loud
@@sv-bd5em Kenan sounds the same in all his skits, he doesn't even try it seems... I am so disappointed they got rid of the good actors and kept him...
Instant classic! 😂
@@jg2722 David _S._ Pumpkins.
This is one of the best skits ive seen in a while
Lost luggage trying to find its way home was the perfect metaphor, any therapist would love to unpack 🤣🤘💞🙏
I see what you did there 😂
Owner gets reimbursed for lost luggage. Not so if someone screws you up worse than you already were, riffling thru your stuff, only to shove it back in the case and tell you they aren't a professional at repacking, only unpacking something, so you may need to consult someone else. That's if they manage to fit it all back in the bag in the first place. 🙄
Which is why I kinda like the vacuum sealer, not only can you tell if someone has been into it and opened something they shouldn't have, but if you really wanna have fun with that mesh netting, foam mattresses, and old costume petticoats, they shrink down to some amazingly smaller sizes so opening something like that is kinda like hitting the inflate button on the rubber dingies serving as an emergency life raft. Good luck trying to fix that in any short amount of time, so you better plan on using it and not inflating it indoors to see if it works.🤨
Which is why when something is vacuum sealed you don't open it before it's intended use, that goes for everything from airbags in vehicles to foam mattresses, clothing, and bedding you have put away for winter, so it fits in your closet better, to food stuff, ect. It's vacuum sealed, for a reason don't open it before you need it unless you plan on re-sealing it like you found it in the first place.
Also great for Holiday gifts so you know if children (and even some adults🤨) tried to peak at their gifts early. (Cause you stuff the real gift in the center of the expanding stuff that's sealed in the vacuumed container), and if they open it they are obviously telling on themselves, and you need to work more on the virtues of patience, awareness of cause and effect, including loss of trust, and so on and so forth. But you can get them crappier gifts after that cause they screwed up for awhile.
I've met a lot of fours, today I met a ten.
Baggage
You won all of social media with that observation
Love this sketch. You can feel Keenan and Cecily welcoming the new cast into the family. Their support on stage is beautiful. Brilliantly funny but giving space to let the new people find their legs. I love it 💝
Pleasantly surprised at how good Jack was. Quite a talented guy.
Yeah, he was a lot better than Megan The Stallion, she just couldn’t act
@@nakedjoe4eva Uhhhh, you're kidding right?
if you mean horrible by talented and if you me surprised as aghast at how awful snl has become ... yeah i can see that ....
@@wisdomprepper you know damn well she was hard to watch.
@@petepoteet her house having been broken into before going on didn't help either
Jack Harlow was a revelation! What an actor!! This show was an absolute killer from beginning to end. Can't remember the last time it was so engaging from start to finish.
I am not upset that Tom Hanks was a special guest this Halloween episode. Definitely one for the books 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It's the first time he appeared in an episode that hasn't been affected by COVID protocol (i.e., the first "SNL Stays at Home" episode and that Paul Rudd Christmas episode that was turned into a Christmas clip show with a dry-run version of Weekend Update).
Tom Hanks is so underrated. I'm glad they let him do this skit.
I busted up laughing when I saw Cecily pop up with the wig saying what about the song, lol who else really wants this to be a real movie? Lol
man, when snl fires on all cylinders, from concept to writing to execution, it still rocks, 47 years later. instant classic.
That's exactly the comment I just posted 🤣
Eh the new cast is pretty terrible.
SNL Social Team comment. No real person would say this. Concept, writing, execution, instant classic? C'mon. How brainless do you think we are?
@@davidcook680 why? Do they offend you?
@@davidcook680 Whatever you do, don't give them a chance to find their footing. Just call them terrible right off the bat. Good call. You're either perfect right away or you're terrible!
"THAT REALLY SNAGS MY ZIPPER!" sounds like it really hurts 😆
Cecily... the treasure of SNL
Keenan forever 💼
Dude. I was shook when I saw her. Is she back?
She has a big dumpy OwO
Yess i miss her sm on snl T-T
@@33bceltics lol. Boston girl agrees
😂 Some meetings really ARE like this! Us alcoholics can be extremely creative but also extremely driven to distraction. Thanks SNL for giving us a skit rooted in your traditional style!😁💜
That was one of the best wholesome SNL skits I've seen in a while
As wholesome as a sketch featuring a suitcase with bare, eerily accurate animated boobs can be.
Um. That suitcase had boobs.
I love that Jack was super vibing to that song at the end 😂
That wasn’t Tom H. That was Mr. pumpkins out of costume to get the help he needed ( and a role in the movie )
David *S* Pumpkins!! 🎃
Any questions?? 🤣
Taking it one day at a time.
Finally. Another perfect sketch and that movie needs to be made asap
The people raising up the suitcases at the end are the unsung heroes of this bit.
I say the prop people who had to run around to find the suitcases, especially "Pierre," and then put googly eyes on them are the heroes =) Maybe they are the same ones who held them up!
“I drank recently, by the way…” 🤦🏾♂️🤣🤣
Honestly, absolutely accurate to AA meetings. There's always at least one.
this is one of the best written snl skits ive seen in YEARS😭
Jack Harlow started by doing his best Casey Affleck impression
Yes!!!!!! That is exactly who he seemed like to me.
I couldn't quite nail it down, but that's exactly it!!
Wow this is so accurate
Omg! Yes!😆😆😆
Idk jack and legitimately thought it was Casey till I read the comments
*started as an AA meeting, quickly became a pitch for a Pixar movie that i NEED to see* 😂
First, much respect to Bowen Yang because he really sold the "What the hell is going on here?!!" expressions.
Second, and I can't be the only one, *I want Pixar to make this movie!!!* 🤣😂🤣
It’s already a real movie it’s on UA-cam it’s called Luggy
Oh hell.... Cecily's gravelly voiced character is literally in every 12 step meeting in the world. There's usually more than 1 actually.
Yup!!! 🤣... That's why I figure she musta attended a meeting or two I her life! (Whether, like Tom, "Researching for a role", to support a friend/family, or being in recovery herself.) 🤷🏽♀️... Either Way, it was SPOT ON!!! 🥰
I wasn't expecting the Tom Hanks cameo! Holy crap.
Nobody does...unless COVID numbers are up again. It happened before on the semi-canceled Paul Rudd Christmas episode.
@Caleb Jacobs: Really? You don't say? Did you have to look that up on IMDB? Guess what, Tom Hanks has been in other movies too.
It was perfect!
@Caleb Jacobs I had no idea! Love me some Tom Hanks.
As an 18 year member of that program, I find this outrageous depiction and mockery..........AWESOME! That was brilliant. "I drank recently" was so perfectly delivered. We need to learn to laugh more.....Also, drunk uncle was great too
Congrats!!!... 👋🏼 Keep it up, fellow friend of Bill 💞!!!... I agree that laughter is some of the best medicine!!!
Tom Hanks just casually walking in had me surprised! WOW
Tom Hanks enters "this AA?" was such perfect timing!
I attended NA for years and this is honestly a very accurate depiction of 90% of our meetings
Believe me, the SNL writers are no strangers to AA...
he almost broke character 2:19 I couldn't breathe
I gotta say guys. This week gives me hope. Also Cecily is a total babe and I'm so happy to see her on here again.
This is crazy because there actually was an animated film called 'Lost Case', which was in the works since 2014 - with a similar premise but nothing else was shared about it. It never got made.
Cecily with the Garfield shirt and the vocal fry 😆
This is killing me!! Jack Nailed it! who knew he was so hilarious?? Cecily always delivers, omg her song🤣
~Thank You SNL, for giving Cecily another singing sketch!~ Our Queen Cecily is back!!~ And as with Kenan, for the Love of Humanity and our Sanity, please don't ever let her go!~🙏 "Pack Yourself With Love...."😍
Tom looking over and listening to the lyrics and then he starts singing ...that little touch is what makes him great.. already could have forgot the lyrics either way he's a pro.
I legit loved this. Plus, and even though he wasn't dressed as David Pumpkins, anything with the Hankmeister is a win!
I didn't know it was possible for everyone to steal the scene. Bravo. Encore. ❤️
This sketch was expertly crafted and realised, and I think it's safe to say it went in a direction _none_ of us was anticipating! Bravo SNL, from a British fan across the Pond.
Please *vote,* btw - we're all counting on you across the rest of the world rn. 🙏🏼🗳🤗
Thank you. America is in crisis, from a 70-year-old perspective.
We will.
And we're sorry that they cancelled Mock, and broke Mash.
@@RevCeleste It really is. Breaks my heart… 🥺
Tom Hanks makes a surprise cameo appearance in the AA Meeting sketch. He's back! 👏👏😀😀
Wow. I feel like some hosts you can feel them shoved into a skit but jack felt super natural and Great timing I’m impressed
Well, he *is* in an upcoming movie. So, yeah, he can act.
He feels like a part of the cast here tbh
They should actually make that Pixar movie. 😂😂 Sounds good.
Hats off SNL - this was really well written & well executed. Great to see SNL's slow burn this year - getting better every week! Congrats
This was so damn good. I love it when SNL sketches just hit.
hahahaha this skit had me dying!!! Jack is such a natural!!
I hate that bag. 😂 I love that bag now. 😂😂
“i drank recently by the way” i literally laughed out loud
I can just see someone at Pixar swearing like a sailor because this was already in the works and now they have to give the SNL cast a writer’s credit
In terms of concept and execution, this sketch is right up there with "Women’s Theater" (the 'Elbow' Monologues) and "Men’s Room (Featuring Tracy Morgan)." Bravo to whoever wrote this!
0:44 I was immediately like, "Thats actually a great idea.
Greatest skit so far in this season.
At every 12-step meeting, there is at least one person that is totally batshit crazy. If you are at a 12-step meeting and can't figure out who that is, that person is probably you.
Brilliant skit! If only real AA meetings were like this. Also, brilliant concept for a Pixar film! Hope it really becomes one. I especially like the end of the film when all the other bags take Pierre to see the world. Oh, and also the "Pack Yourself with Love" song! That's going to be stuck in my head for awhile. 😂
Of all the depictions of AA meetings I've seen on film and TV, this one is actually one of the most authentic. (Not that that's saying much... )
@@rickc7487 😊
Having facilitated recovery groups, I was definitely feeling Bowen's character here. Sometimes things spin hilariously out of control in a way that isn't bad, exactly, but very "How did we get here again?"
@@kfitzsimons6615 I considered that, too. Sometimes the off-topic topics end up being kind of metaphorical. Like this one was about being lost and alone, then finding your best tribe and getting to live your best life. 😊
TSA definitely has to be the antagonist. A little strip search maybe?? 😂
This is the funniest video on UA-cam; "I drank recently by the way"
This is what an AA meeting looks like in North Hollywood. When they’re not working on their screenplay at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.
i can't with keenan 🤣😭
I’m sorry but the dudes on the floor holding the bags up 😂😂
This is incredible! As a recovering, practicing alki, I loved it!❤😂
I honestly think this luggage is a perfect idea for a Pixar movie.
BRILLIANT SKETCH WELL DONE BRAVO!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think they should follow this motto with every skit to me this feels like a old school Saturday night live skit !!!
Right??!♥️♥️♥️
This is legitimately a good sketch, sometimes SNL just like doesn't hit except for the weekend update, but this episode was pretty damn good
Tom Hanks, please please never stop existing!
This is gold, when we see this film being made at Pixar in a few years we know why
They nailed the ADD element of recovery meetings
This is the funniest that SNL has been in awhile. Jack Harlow nailed his characters perfectly.
This was a perfect sketch. Thanks for the much needed laughs.
low key expected the pixar lamp to walk in but toms fine i guess.
but seriously this was so good
Actually, one of Tom Hanks first roles when he was just beginning his Acting Career and doing guest starring Roles on TV was playing Merideth Baster-Birney's brother - Ned on Family Ties. Ned ends up being an Alcoholic who ends up needing to go to AA.
3:46. Tom Hanks cameo appearance.
Yup, this is GOLD right here. More of THIS SNL!
Jack's beautiful delivery 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Pixar wondering who leaked this to the SNL writers.
I'll be that adult in the theater watching this pixer movie if it ever came out. lol
Same lol
I really hope this concept becomes a movie, I would certainly watch it several times if it did.
Tom Hank's appearances are so iconic. He needs to only show his face one minute and the sketch becomes a classic
Cecily gets me every time dude!😂🤣
I have no problem believing Cecily's character smokes 2 packs a day.
1-I’d watch this movie 100 times.
2-Jack did great.
No one else noticed he pointed at the gym bag instead of the brief case on accident mixing them up lol
This was FKN great! And I also drank recently.
