Hahaha yeah I get what you mean. Ive been playing guitar for 12 years now but I never got around to taking a theory class (self taught before youtube even had all these helpful vids) but I do somewhat understand whats gping on here, but like anything, it takes time to finally understand.
Took me 4 months to finally understand welding when I was in trade school. And about 6 months to finally understand what was happening in class when I was learning electrical.
This is no different. Take a theory class and it'll take a while but you will understand eventually. Even faster if you already play guitar 😎👍
To be honest it's pretty simple. I dont mean that to sound like an ass, but there are only 12 notes and once you understand harmony, making the chords isn't all that hard. Naming them is a bit more heady, but honestly it's not necessary and it's just a simple matter of knowing the patterns and how to name them. It might seen unaproachably technical at first, but it's not all that hard in the end.

Some theory info that might help:
A basic chord is constructed of 3 notes. It is also referred to as a triad, with obvious reason.
An example of this, the C Major Triad is CEG.
The three notes in a triad correspond to their scale degrees/intervals.
Scales generally have 7 notes. In the case of C that is CDEFGAB.
The scale can also be described in numbers, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7
CEG as a number/scale degree: 1,3,5
There are a lot of other kinds of chords that tend to be the basic triad but with stuff added.
For instance, a 7th chord uses the scale degrees 1,3,5,7
A 9th is 1,3,5,7,9
An add 9 is 1,3,5, and 9 (just the 9 is added to the basic triad)
Knowing the interval relationship between a pair of two notes is very useful
The intervals represent all 12 notes on a piano, or every fret on a guitar up to it's octave.
Distance from root to interval:
0 = unison (open string)
1 = minor 2nd (first fret)
2= Major 2nd (second fret)
3= minor 3rd (third fret)
4= Major 3rd (4th fret)
5= perfect 4th (5th fret)
6= flat 5 (aka tritone) (6th fret)
7= Perfect 5th (7th fret)
8= minor 6th (8th fret)
9= Major 6th (9th fret)
10= minor 7th (10th fret)
11= Major 7th (11th fret)
(12)= Octave (12th fret)
In terms of a standard 7 note scale, it is easy to figure out what higher numbers are.
Ex: A 9th is really just the 2nd but an octave higher (7 + 2 =9), 8 being the octave.
Inversions:
Both two note intervals and chord voicings can be inverted.
With two notes in a scale, you can go up to the interval, but also go down from the root.
The way you can figure out how far to go down for an inversion is to make the two notes add to 9
Ex: The inversion of a 5th is down a 4th. 5+4=9
It is important to note that the minor and majors must create a neutral.
For instance, major 3rd up is inverted to a minor 6th down
Chord inversions are a little bit different:
If the standard triad is 1,3,5,
First inversion = 3,5,1 (moving the root to the top)
Second inversion = 5,1,3 (move the new base note to the top, or the starting top note to the base)
It is very useful to know standard interval shapes on a fret board
The shapes are standard among the first 4 strings (EADG)
The following B and E strings are shifted down a fret
Standard Fretboard interval shapes:
minor 3rd = one string up, two frets down
Major 3rd = one string up, one fret down
Perfect 4th = one string up, same fret
Perfect 5th = one string up two frets up
Octave = two strings up, two frets up
The rest of the interval shapes are fairly easy to figure out by moving a certain number of frets away from one of the above shapes.
Ex: Finding a Minor 6th is as easy as going one fret up from a Perfect 5th. See the chromatic (all 12 notes) intervals above.

in person lessons are good because your instructor can help you improve on things like posture that doesn't really translate through video
Being self taught is overrated. Good for you if you can. But UA-cam lacks structure and continuity with guitar lessons

i guess the reason i say this is influenced by the fact that i took advantage of my public school systems music courses and already knew simple theory before taking lessons, so really all i learned was technique and chord shapes- and i feel like i still have a strange technique and am comfortable with it. what lessons also did for me was show me a lot of new and interesting music, im very grateful for my teacher getting me into great music, his name is dan and when he taught me he was in a band called emma ate the lion. he played the bass and sang he inspired me to work harder than if i just watched videos online. *slowly takes comment back lol*

Many of these chords were used by the Cocteau twins and some other first wave dreampop bands in the late eighties and early ninties.
The Archivist - Music & More Shoegaze came after and was influenced heavily by the first wave dreampop bands (the whole 4AD and early Creation records scenes).
