it’s like in Newcastle, a lad is a man/boy, lass is a woman/girl, just exactly what Dido said (i also just noticed that obviously Dido being Scottish, there’s Scottish people in the Newcastle team in England) i’m saying England because their’s also a Newcastle in Australia, and bonnie technically means like beautiful and/or attractive
I obv knew all the Scottish ones, and a few of the Aussie ones, but i was very surprised Dido didnt know Chock-a-block as thats a phrase me and family and friends would use all the time. And also, im not sure i would ever describe a person as baltic, just a place. Like i wouldnt say "I'm baltic" but i would say "its baltic in here/outside". Anyway, little differences 😊 Brilliant collab, would love to see more collabs!!!
Managed to get about half of the answers correct from both countries. Got the most correct answers from Scotland thanks to movies and TV series. So I agree, watching TV pays off. Thanks for the nice video!
I thought it was a little extra funny that there were Scottish words that I could recognize from Norwegian, which is my language. Greet written "Gret" in Old Norse also means to cry or whine/complain. And Bairn written in Old Norse "Barn or Born" also means child. Presumably these similarities are due to Norwegian Vikings raiding and settling in Northern England and Scotland between the years 700 and 1000. The word "Gate" also has the same meaning in Norwegian and in Scottish - "Street".
Yes, you could say "You little ripper!" If your favourite football team scored a goal or try (depending what style of football you like lol) The way you laughed at Jade every time she said "Jobby" 😂 This cross-over was everything I never knew I needed. 🙌
OMG ASMR Jades nails are stunning 😍 Also I'm Australian and i didnt even know some of the terms 😆 AND i did know a few of the Scottish terms Side Note: I am genuinely convinced every Australian sounds less Aussie when they whisper 😅
