I think Brisbane put an end to them rather quickly! All the better considering some Essendon players said publicly that they wanted to create a dynasty after a single premiership. Obviously got way ahead of themselves!
@@shauncobain6271 Should've got a lot closer to a 3 peat than they did. Brisbane also got Essendon at the back end of their best. Didn't come near them in 98, 99, 00 and 01, half the team was out injured. Essendon's best team, 2000, and Brisbane's 2002 would've been a great game, but no team has ever come close to repeating what Essendon achieved in 2000.
@@shauncobain6271 All good mate, nothing wrong with friendly back and forth. Missing the 99 and 01 flag does bother me though. Haha really wasted opportunities.
@@aaronsalmon1376 As a Carlton supporter the 99 preliminary is one of my favourite memories, not so much the 2000 preliminary though. Not many good memories since either tbh!
A massive crowd - 91,000 at the G for 1 v 2 on a Friday night! The Bombers were undefeated after 18, and the Blues had put together 13 games without a loss (from memory)
A shame Carlton lost the first final that year to Melbourne when they were miles in front. Meant they had to play the Bombers in the Prelim. And then another dud GF. Melbourne weren't up to this mob
Not always the case, sometimes a couple of players come in & perform better than the regulars would have on the night because they are unknowns, provide a bit of unpredictability
@@markashley425 Long actually did play in the '99 PF and managed to rack up 25 disposals and a goal. Hird and Lucas being unable to play the remainder of the 1999 season wasn't what cost your mob that game. It was kicking 3.10 - 28 in a half of football, then kicking 7.7 - 49 in the 3rd quarter, and finishing with a total of 14.19 - 103. I will say that Carlton would've won the R20 2000 game if Kouta, Bradley and Allan (who all started on the ground and ensured that Carlton had the upper hand in the game) managed to avoid getting injured. Watching a full replay makes it fairly obvious that the momentum swung in Essendon's favour once all three were confined to the bench for the rest of the match.
Essendon. This was the best team of all time. Just toyed with the blues.

Dipper: "BRADLEY COMING OFF BOYS BRADLEY COMING OFF"
Kouta blowing out his knee was all she wrote. They were the only team that had a chance of taking down Essendon in the grand final

That's 20 straight wins to the Bombers.
No bombers lost to thr bulldogs a week or two before

Yes I have the full replays of all the matches on my channel. I don't post full matches on UA-cam though for copyright reasons
A real shame.

2000 Bombers Vs 2020 Tigers......
As a Richmond supporter myself, the 2000 Bombers side easily.
Blues would've won if it wasn't for injuries

didn't Kouta get injured during the 3rd qtr and miss the rest of the game?
