I got the brother innovis 880e, and the jump stitch cutter was a big part of the decision to get that over the janome memory craft 550e which has a bigger embroidery surface, and unsuspectingly the WiFi file transfer is amazing! I started with the usb but when you're constantly editing samples it's really easy to just air drop the file using the program and they get deleted when powered off so it doesn't take up storage
I DO appreciate you, Jen! Thanks for this video! I like the fact that the 900 has wireless capabilities, but the fact that it will cut jump stitches may sway me to upgrade. I’ve been doing a lot of embroidery lately. The last one-I thought I’d never get through trimming them, although the curved embroidery scissors purchased from you has made the task so much more comfortable! Another of your series I have learned so much from is is the Embriliance Essentials. Game changer! I purchased that software and I’m loving it. I recently purchased a 5x7 magnetic hoop. I’d like to see you do hooping & maintenance videos on that if it’s a product you’d like to try. 😊 Thanks, Jen!
When I was buying my sewing machine in the store they actually advised me to buy an older model. They literally admitted that sewing manufacturers would come out with newer models that are only having some minor improvements for the sake of ranking up the prices and being able to justify it. I imagine with embroidery machines it is the same. I paid an awful lot for even a second hand NV800E that I am only into getting using it now. I think it is the almost the exact equivalent of the PE800 but recently discovered it can cut threads which I did not realize so that was a nice surprise.
If you have the Embrillance software you can reorder the thread colors, as we as, decrease the number of jump threads. The 800 might not cut the jump threads but I don’t think spending an extra $250 for only a few upgrades are worth it. I think I would invest in the software instead of upgrading the machine. Thank you, Jen, for buying it and comparing for us!😊
Colour sort is super useful if you make several designs with the same pattern on the same frame. I.e. I make 6 of the same designs on the largest frame I have, instead of making them 1 by 1, I add the fabric 1 at the same time, then trim all, then add fabric 2 etc.... or if doing FSL, just changes of thread, saves SOOO much time :-)
Jen... The pricing on ALL sewing machines, has DEFINITELY undergone "the COVID effect!" These companies are certainly taking advantage of consumers that have purchased machines during the pandemic lockdown. A bit of price gouging going on, if you ask me... You prompted me to re-visit what I paid for my PE800, and I feel SO blessed to have snagged mine from Overstock for $444 total price in Dec 2019, as my Christmas present to myself. Their original price was $652.49 back then, but sold out now. I had a coupon and their reward dollars stored up.Overstock was allowing coupons on sewing machines back then, but no more....Glad I didn't wait on this one...LOVE my PE800, and I love it even more now that I realize what a great price I paid for it!!!! 😀
I can’t wait to see this comparison! I bought the Pe770 years ago for around $450-$500. I thought that was a good price point for it. For $1100 I would expect a better machine. Just my opinion.
I was thinking the same. I got mine for $529 and that's what I think is a fair price for this one and the "upgrade". I don't feel like cutting jump stitches and wireless capability is really an upgrade.
Hi, interesting new model made. I have a Brother SE625 about 4 year ago at Walmart for $350 at the time. First time. Pretty good machine. I like it. Only get 4 by 4 loop. There one side extra smaller. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for forking over that cash to review this! I agree with your skepticism. The jump stitch cutter would be nice. Color sort can be done in embroidery software like Embrilliance.
I would get it because I don’t like cutting jump stitches while embroidering. It takes a lot of time for me.. also because my hands are weak and my left hand is half numb. I would benefit off of this.
I have the Brother PE545 and I haven't figured out how to use the wifi or the Artspira. I'm looking forward to seeing how you are able to use these 2 features.
I've had the PE 800 for a few years and love it. I just bought the PE 900 because of the jump stitch feature. I've tried it a few times and every time it cuts a jump stitch my machine stops and says to re-thread. The machine is threaded so I don't know why I get that message. However, I just take out the bobbin and then it restarts UNTIL it has to do another jump stitch and then it stops again after cutting the one jump stitch. I can't find any tutorials on how to set the jump stitch correctly and troubleshoot why it's doing this. I'm wondering if I have a bad machine.
So glad to see a new video of the Pe900! New to the embroidery machine and received it as a gift if you could do more videos on how the machine works in detail and especially how to download embroider patterns on and via a usb that’d be so nice ! And greatly appreciated! Looking forward to more videos!!
I’m mad I didn’t buy the PE800 when it was price you got it for. They are still 900-1100 on Amazon. I’ve seen a lot of used ones for sale but people still want a lot for a used machine.
I just bought my pe800 for $800 this is with shipping n handling, the 900 was $1200.During the pandemic the PE 800 was selling for $1400😮the price came down a bit but was still over a thousand dollars
I was hoping they added a larger hoop atleast. I agree no other feature change interests me. Do you have a name or link to the larger hoops you use? Electronic chips and other things have gotten pricier and short supply for some.
$250 for having WIFI capabilities and having to use that horrible app, Artspira is not worth the upgrade. THANK YOU!! Great video, it's great to call out manufacturers for their horrible ideas that we the consumers might want... Cricut blew it with their overpriced Venture machine for 1000 bucks.
That's like the Brother cs6000i that I have and the cs7000i. Not much difference that I could see except the 7000 has 10 more stitches. Looking forward to the comparison of the 2 embroidery machines.
I would like to buy this embroidery machine. The last embroidery/sewing machine I brought was a Babylock Esante back in 2005. The embroidery part of it doesn't work anymore and it can't be repaired it's a bummer.
lots more to say than I'm gonna type, however: where are you gonna get it serviced? I got my brother at a dealer and if you open the machine at all it automatically voids the warranty, dont know if thats brother or the store. the manual says not to oil the machine...only let the service tech do it? so your machine gets worn out a lot faster...sketchy... also my older machine they wanted to charge me $400 to add wifi (2018ish) Many ppl online said the USB ports break, and that ends up breaking the mother board sooooo I always try to leave a dongle plugged in instead of constantly plugging in/out. Brother used to not publish prices online, made you call the dealers. Let me go calm my heart.
If these prices are so crazy and your not thrilling about the upgrades then why buy that machine? There’s other brother machines like I have the se 1900 and not a single complaint, I don’t need my jump stitches cut on my machine because I have embrilliance software which also does color sort.if I were to upgrade I’d be looking for a lot more then the few this machine offers because anything over 200 more dollars should have a ton of new features. Just my opinion on this topic
I’m curious about digitizing software for this machine? After shelling out nearly $1k for this machine I’m really disappointed to see that I’m not capable of printing out simple clip art without paying more. (I’m trying to import my husband’s business logo) $900-$1100 for the software that seems most compatible (pe design 11) Any Thoughts?
I just got my 800 a few days ago and the 900 doesn’t seem to be a big deal. Thank you for the unboxing and basic walkthrough. I’m definitely sticking with my 800! 😁🧵

Can I use this machine just for regular sewing?
If you have the Embrillance software you can reorder the thread colors, as we as, decrease the number of jump threads. Too bad they didn’t add a larger hoop area to the machine - that would have made it worth more - thank you for the review!
I just bought this. Haven't unboxed it yet. My first machine. Thank you for your video.

I just got a used SE1900 which is like PE800 with Sewing capabilities. I think upgrading to a machine with jump stitch cutter would be worth it..
That jump stitch feature I think would be worth the $200.

I got the Altair for $6,000 in April,2022. They sell for $8,999.00 now. The Stellaire (its cousins) has been on sale for $6999.99 for a short time.
Hi Jen! Wondering if you could review the Simply Applique software?? Appreciate your reviews on products!!!
I was hoping they added a larger hoop atleast. I agree no other feature change interests me.

Just like everyone else is using for excuses for price hikes, supply chain, short handed, etc.

As for myself I don’t think the added features are worth the extra dollars. I have decided to go with the pe800

I''M GLADi got my pe800 when I did for $459.00 new from Home Depot, not enough upgrades on the pe900 I definitely will NOT BE PURCHASING
WOW
Doesn’t the Artspira app look a lot like Cricut Design Space? 😂
You know, it kind of does...
