Totally disagree. A scantily clad, tight-clothed young woman undulating around with her leg above her ears.. is not helpful to worship. That’s why we don’t have then in church, nor in ANY OTHER WORSHIP SONG IVE EVER SEEN.

Steph -"come save my soul again" - I like that line a lot! It reminds me of so many of David's Psalms where he cried out for God's mercy and help. Even Jesus said "My God, why have you forsaken Me"! [That's a theological conundrum.] The word "salvation" used in the NT ("sozo" in greek) is not just the "go to heaven" meaning that we seem to apply to it. It has a deeper meaning of being saved, rescued, healed, and preserved. It's the same word the disciples used when they were in the boat in the middle of the storm when Jesus was asleep and they said "Lord save us!". The most important thing is that we cry out to Him! God is the God of the Second Chances (and the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh...ect). His mercy is new every morning! And the greatest victories come in the toughest of times when we throw ourselves on His mercy. We are overcomers because of our faith in Him (I John 5:1-5). Steph - keep your eyes on Him! This song is outstanding. It’s one of two you’ve written that have brought tears to my eyes, the other was ‘ When I Found Jesus’. I have dealt with addiction from the outside looking in. I’ve lost two wives and two sisters to addiction. Depression was one of the main mental disorders they each suffered. I didn’t know how to deal with them, so all I could do is pray and take care of their needs. This song spoke to me and brought many sad hurtful memories
As for Beckys dance , in order to see anything lustful you have something in your life that needs some attention ,and turned over to Christ. Did David not dance in the streets with some looking with disgust. I say let people praise with the gifts that God has given them.

@@brando3342 The presentation was not a sensual presentation, but a death struggle with darkness gripping the soul, trying to tear it from the hands of the Lord.
If you've never struggled with the darkness of depression, it might be difficult for you to understand. It is similar to the feel of drowning.
In depression, the darkness is on you, and in you and everywhere around you like an ocean. And the light seems so small & distant. The darkness often _seems_ stronger than the light.
Yet, the light of the Savior will prevail when you plead to Him, just as the words in the song reflect.
The 'dance' depicts the wretched struggle to get free from the swamping darkness of Satan's thoughts. And all the while, you are trying to cling to the light of the Son grappling inside you to destroy the darkness in your soul [not your spirit].
In the end, the soul is freed from the grip of darkness & the struggle is finished. The soul walks away free, flinging the last of the grip of darkness from from it's arm.
The depiction, augmented by the words of the song, is very powerful, ...both humbling and encouraging. Because the Light of Christ never leaves us alone in that battle, ....ever.
      ... Thank you, Lord. ...

The most profound part of the lyric, for me, was "come save my soul again" we rely constantly upon the grace and mercy of God every moment. God is merciful to us that cry out to Him over and over again. Like Peter, we sometimes loose our way; salvation is continuously coming to us by grace alone. God's peace be with you.

Doesn't say "alone" anywhere. We enter into a covenant and we can break it. There are plenty of warnings about that in the bible. Look all though Paul's epistles. But you can't just pick out random verses. The bible in it's entirity tells the whole story and you get the full picture.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

    • @lc-mschristian5717
      @lc-mschristian5717 5 років тому +2

@@2ndBirth what are you implying, we save ourselves by our own good works? It can only be grace if it is unmerited and if inherited then it is works and not grace. Paul argues this very point. You cannot mix grace and works together for salvation. True salvation will produce works but works cannot produce salvation. If we can save ourselves by keeping the law then Jesus died in vain, for nothing, because we already had the law. God's law demands perfect obedience and that is impossible for fallen humans.

    • @2ndBirth
      @2ndBirth 5 років тому +1

@@lc-mschristian5717 They are twisting the meaning of grace. We are saved by God's grace. We enter into a covenent with Him when we are born again. Because he is gracious and merciful. That doesn't give us a license to sin. We remain in Christ by keeping his commands and abiding in Him. We don't save ourselves, what it means is no man can be saved by doing "good work". We need to come to Christ and be forgiven. But then faith without works is dead. We are saved unto good works. We abide in Christ and the good works come. We are sanctified in His word and live right.
Jas_2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
It's all through the bible that we need to live in obedience to God's will. But this hyper-grace teaching is leading people down a dangerous path. We are known by our fruit. What good fruit does it produce telling people they can do what they like as they are saved and sealed now and God can't do anything about it any more.
Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Luk 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
Luk 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Luk 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

I have never been the guy who beat myself up with drugs & alcohol. Truth is , I get high on life but I also know I am the sinner who was lost in my own desire to please the Lord while knowing I failed Him in such ways as I could never forgive myself fully. It is very hard to forgive ourselves & it is the devil's trick to convince us that God couldn't forgive us because we can not repent enough for Him to cherish us. The Devil lies & we must get past his lies.

Thank you for being transparent. As one who shunned organized religion but ran directly into the devil, not all of us are "cookie cutter Christians" and the path we came on was twisted and dark. My spouse was delivered from demonic obsession in a church service and now she works with mentally ill inmates in prison. Some very wonderful men of God were leary of her leading Bible studies since she was a woman, but we waited on the Lord and prayed for open doors. As written before, now she does this as a mental health professional in a Texas prison with much liberty to lead these precious ones to Christ and comfort them in their mental torment. Well meaning brothers and sisters may utter hasty and damaging words (we gift them with grace) but armed with the peace of God for our direction, we press on to the high calling. God has many unusual (and even odd) tools in his tool box and He is a master builder able to create beautiful works with them. Much love in Christ!

This song is awesome. Pornography had become a besetting sin that I battled off and on for more than 25 years. It was like an addiction. I asked God many times to help me break that bondage and eventually told Him that if I could not kill that sin, I would rather He kill ME because I did not want to disobey and dishonor Him any longer.
Around the same time I prayed that prayer, I was given a clean bill of health from my doctor. "You're the picture of health", I was told. But a few months after that prayer I was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I believe the cancer is divine chastisement but I am thankful for the chastisement. The chastisement means I belong to God and I no longer struggle with that abhorrent addiction to pornography.
I thank God for musicians like Steph Macleod. Steph, thank you for your transparency.

This is a beautiful song and an amazing story behind the song. God's grace in our life is the most amazing thing. We don't deserve that grace and he died for us anyway. I can't begin to understand the pain and heartache it took to get you to that point. I don't understand alcohol addiction, or any addiction, for that matter. As someone in my mid 50's, I've never even been drunk a single time in my life. I've just never felt an urge to drink alcohol. Pain affects us all differently. The only thing consistent in our lives is God's unending and undeserved love and grace.

And thank you, Steph, for being so very courageous and strong in sharing your beautiful testimony and releasing this song that you wrote in the darkness. It is and will lead people - saved and unsaved - out of the darkness, because Jesus through this will remove guilt, shame and loneliness. We, the Chrurch, need to recognise the importance of telling the darker side of our stories (just look at the characters in the Bible) because there is healing there. May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you both in your art and may you see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Amen. I read your story, and I gotta say, our pathway to Christ have been strikingly similar. Been listening to your arrangement of "Be Thou My Vision" for the last hour, (trying to practice it without a capo... lol) before listening to "Still Waters". I'm an American, but Celtic music is in my blood, and has always resonated with my soul. Keep on doing the Lord's work, every hymn is a prayer and a blessing. I read Psalms 23, and I felt inspired to share something with you. I'm a Latter Day Saint, otherwise known as "Mormon", but whatever you've heard, Christ is at the center of my religion, and I am a Christian. I read a scripture in The Book of Mormon tonight, just before I discovered your channel, that has helped to remind me that Jesus Christ has been with me through my alcohol addiction, another reminder akin to Psalms 23, even in the darkest of times.
    It says,
"And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.
The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?
Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever."
Which brings to mind the lyrics from "Be Thou My Vision"
"Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one"
Thank you for your service, and God bless you Steph.

Our healing is gradual, sometimes instantaneous, but complete, nonetheless, in our salvation.
People like us are a prime target for the enemy's attacks.
Remember that healing for us, is sometimes gradual, and Jesus knows how best to administer the treatments that will ease our pain.
In His eyes, we are whole, lacking nothing.
    Please remember Romans 8:28.
Know that it is TRUTH, and your pain has been, and will be used mightily by Him to help many of us in the process of healing.

I'm not a Christian myself, but I'm very moved by your story and perspective... I'm glad you found your way through all this chaos. It's inspiring how you raise awareness for mental health problems with your music!
I am glad that I have found you and your music.
I feel many things while listening to your album Gold and this song does move something deep inside me. Thanks for telling us about the story behind it.
I would have loved to see you perform in the video, but I also love Becky and her choreography. One can really see and feel the passion that she puts in her dancing...
All in all I'd like to say THANK YOU for this song and the video!
    Love from Germany

Thank you so much for this song and what you have written here. It is powerful, painful and drips with grace. I see and hear Jesus in it and through it... it breaks my heart and at the same time fills me with joy - because He will never leave us or forsake us but we can so easily persuade ourselves otherwise. Thank you.

Steph, this is an example of how any Christians walk can go, going up up hard terrain of life, slippery and treacherous is the way. How easy it is to fall, to slide back down the mountain....The best part is owning up to it, making it right with God...like you said in song...Come save my soul again, a renewing of our commitment to follow Christ. Music is healing, worshiping God is cleansing. Keep singing and praising brother!! Please more worship, some new music brother, please do Waymaker and Come Thou fount!!

Reminds me of John Mcmillan with the singing. Well done. Bought your celtic worship album and I'm loving it. God bless bro. God bless you too dancer girl, its not a nice debate to be caught up in. I don't know how the men complaining go outside these days if this triggers them. Perhaps they are being genuine about their struggles though, we won't all always agree about where the boundaries are with dress and modesty.

Only by being honest with each other can we encourage one another, and allow others to open up as well. Bless you brother. Your lyrics, your music, your passion encourage me as well. Be open. Be transparent.

God bless you for your ability and willingness to share your testimony, it blesses you just as it blesses others. Hi Steph. I was in here looking for an uplifting music when I ran into your name. I hesitated clicking on it because your last name resembles my daughter's murderer's last name, McLeod. I forced myself to watch and feel blessed that I did. You are an amazing testimony. Perhaps you should pray for the murderer: Raymond Samuel McLeod JR. Pray that he turns himself in and end the search.

I cried out this very thing so many times. Not that God needed to save my soul from hell again, but that I needed him to save my soul from the harm I chose to do to it. Thank you for your transparency and honesty. I know those two and Christ are my only help through mental illness. It is such a struggle to be thankful. I know God could heal me, and I am thankful that he will, but I pray I can be helpful to others even if it is as simple as telling a part of my struggle just as you have here.

It's mostly the clothes for me. Skin tight shirt, short shorts... no, we are not supposed to look with lust, but us men are trapped with a biology that puts emphasis on our eyes. It is natural to be attracted to it. If there are stumbling blocks such as these that can be taken out of the way, which would help, I don't think that is a bad thing or much to ask. God bless you :)

Steph. Thank you for your honesty in this song and in your explanation above. Been there and know the feeling.
"Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed." The theology police might bicker about "come save my soul again," but don't let them get you down. Sometimes honesty is not about being correct; it's about being honest. David asks in Psalm 13 how long God will forget him. In Psalm 22 he asks why God has forsaken him. In Lamentations, Jeremiah claims that God has brought him into darkness. None of these things are "correct." God neither forgets us, nor forsakes us, nor leads us into darkness. But they are true: The writers, though God's spirit, expressed what they were feeling, and they brought those feelings to God, who led them into an even truer (dare I say more correct) reality.
I will sing to the Lord [after he brings me out of despair], because he has dealt bountifully with me. (Psalm 13)
He did not despise or abhor my affliction [despite how I felt at the time], but heard when I cried to him. (Psalm 22)
The Lord is my portion, says my soul [even in the midst of all this horror]. Therefore I will hope in him. (Lamentations)
I appreciate how your song follows this pattern. An honest cry of despair leads to a greater reality. "I am humbled suddenly. I know you are here with me." Have you ever heard Rich Mullins' song "Hard to Get"?
As for Becky's dance, it's lovely but not really my thing, so I quit watching and just listened to the song. I'm not sure why others didn't simply do the same.

The song breaks the stoney heart and reveals the rawness of being shackled and in bondage..........the soul and heart knows the only answer is JESUS, the only healing comes from JESUS and our hope is in JESUS, who is the author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2
    King James Version
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Stop with the negative comments about the dancer. She is praising the Lord with her gifts. What have YOU done to praise the Lord today???

@@stephmacleod I think the biggest deception of the enemy today is that salvation is a one time event. It is not, we are expected to live in obedience to Christ. Look all through Pauls epistles. He tells us the importance of living right and "remaining in the faith". The unprofitable servant gets thrown in the fire with the hypocrites. It's not a popular message today. Once saved always saved teaches the BROAD way to destruction, the true way is NARROW. We need to live for Christ, not pats on the back from this world. It's hard standing against the social pressure ot conform to this world. But the "church" in the Greek means the "called out ones". We are called out of this world. We can't live like the world, telling them we are Christian. If we have the knowledge of the truth and continue in wilful sin, our end will be worse than that of the unbeliever. We need to put our faith in Christ to break all our chains, he has the power to do so. We just take the first step in faith and Christ strengthens and guides us.
God bless. I love your music, it's helped me on my walk with Christ and I'm sure others are touched by it and also your powerful testimony.

@@stephmacleod I understand brother. I would imagine that if truth be told, most of us believers have gone through this. Our fallen world is constantly calling us back to the darkness and sometimes that is where we go. Not because we want to, but because that is what is familiar. Thank you for sharing. Those of us who have felt His love and forgiveness after a dark season - well, words can barely express our deep gratitude. But your music and the beautiful dance, expressed it wonderfully. I thought the dance paired so well in the expression of that feeling of desperation that causes us to almost demand forgiveness and light from the One who freely gives it. Not that we can demand God to give it to us, but that we are determined to hold onto His hand and receive it yet again...……….
