Bakhdida is an ancient city in northern Iraq, near Mosul. It was home to a 50,000 strong Christian population whose ancestors date back thousands of years in the same location. In 2014 it was invaded by ISIS and the inhabitants fled. At the time of this single's release, several thousand of the refugees had settled in Melbourne, and many thousands more around Australia. Others are in North America, Western Europe, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraqi Kurdistan. Many families were unable to escape together and have ended up in various parts of the world, still separated. The natives of Bakhdida have been routinely persecuted and lament the loss of their city, which lay desolate and destroyed until 2017 when rebuilding began after liberation. The Bakhdida project is a gift to their diaspora and an opportunity to connect with their wonderful music and culture.
باخديدا هي مدينة قديمة تقع في شمال العراق بالقرب من مدينة الموصل المعروفة ،كانت موطن لاكثر من ٥٠٠٠٠ جلهم من المواطنين المسيحيين الاصليين الذين عاشوا في هذه البقعة من الأرض لالاف السنين .في عام ٢٠١٤ ،قامت الدولة الاسلامية في العراق والشام بغزو باخديدا وسقطت المدينة وفر ابناءها.والان وفي وقت اصدار هذا العمل هنا بضع الاف من اللاجئين استقروا في ملبورن والاف اخرين في مناطق اخرى من استراليا واخرين في امريكا الشمالية وغرب اوربا والعديد منهم مازالو عالقين في دول الشرق الاوسط كلبنان والاردن وتركيا وهناك الكثير مازالو باقيين في كردستان العراق. العديد من العوائل لم يستطيعوا الهروب سوية فتشتتو في مختلف بقاع العالم .سكان باخديدا الاصليين المظطهدين والذين يرثون فقدان مدينتهم التي دمرت واتلفت عادوا في عام ٢٠١٧ لبناءها من جديد بعد تحريرها .هذا العمل هو هدية لمعاناتهم وفرصة لاعدة التواصل مع موسقتهم وثقافتهم وهو اشارة الى هبة السلام والعيش المشترك
