All Christians from the Middle East except Armenians are one and the same people. Asuroye, Orumoye, Suroye, Keldoye, Nasturoye, Maronoye, Rûm Ortox, Rûm Catholic and so on, they are the same people. It is only the church that is Spread
We are Sámi clans who moved into the Mezopotamy and first formed the state of Akad in turn we have formed Asur, Babil, Ninova and Aram province.

Iraq lost most of its Assyrians due to wars.. Iraq lost a diamond that could never been replaced 💔 it's so sad to see Iraqi Assyrians, Armenians, Yazidis and many other Iraqi ethnicities and religions gone.. Iraq is so diverse but wars and politics had separated us as a people💔 Sending love and greetings to my Assyrian brothers and sisters from an Iraqi Arab girl❤

It’s a shame because many Iraqi Arab from central’s and northern Iraq have some Assyrian/Babylonian mix ancestry. We are an indigenous and they should be protecting their ancestors. They ran away and left us with the ISIS group killing us.

ChaldeanNebuchadnezzar We are not the real descendants of "Iraq", that makes no sense at all. We are the Assyrians, the heirs of mesopotamia. I've seen you comment on other videos talking about the chaldean name and saying the assyrians are nestorian chaldeans etc. I want to tell you that you're Assyrian brother, be proud of it. The term "Chaldean" refers to the assyrians who are just adherents of the Chaldean Catholic Church, originally called The Church of Assyria and Mosul, which was that part of the Church of the East which entered communion with the Catholic Church between the 16th and 18th centuries. You are ASSYRIAN brother. I'm "Chaldean" too, but I know that his is just a religious sect. We need to return to the days where we were part of 1 church and united under one name: ASHURAYA. And when we didn't have sloppy dialects between villages and mixed arabic/turkish/kurdish words into our language.

East Syriac Catholic here from India! There are millions of us and some are West Syriac (Syriac Orthodox). Your religions legacy survives with us! Sadly, tho we share religion, we do not share culture. I pray the Assyrian culture survives through the many difficulties it faces.

Aa Aa sorry for the extremely late reply! Syrian Christian traders came to India’s trading port known as Muzirus for centuries (modern day state of Kerala). Records as early as the 3rd century show a Syrian presence in Kerala connected to the Church of the East. The vast majority of these people came as merchants, there is one group even known as the Knanaya who came as in organized group in the 4th or 9th century, today the Knanaya still show 13% Middle Eastern ancestry. In general the practitioners of the Syrian Rites of Kerala are known as St. Thomas Christians whom according to folk history evangelized Kerala in the year 52.

She is singing about a sad story about Assyrians. To make the long story short, how can a civilization that lit the candle of humanity and brought them out of darkness is living in such dark days today. Hunted down by Isis who destroying their history and killing them or driving them out of their birthplace 😓

Youhana Gilana Who said you have to choose? We’re both! Eastern Christianity and Modern Assyrians are one and the same. But if you must know: we were Assyrians long before Christianity, and shall remain Assyrians LONG after. Don’t fall for the Aramean or Chaldean rites fighting for scraps. Our ancestors were smart enough to realize the futility of tagging faith to a race, and united under the one dominant power in Mesopotamia: Assyria. The only reason we still don’t have a country is because of all the infighting between Christian rites.

My bloodline lived in North Iraq. They later moved to Turkey where they established the city ''Zaz''. In the genocide of 1915 a part of my bloodline became obligated muslim. The family members who stayed christians in Turkey got the surname ''Kurd''. The other part of my family moved to Syria (Zalin) where they got the surname Safar. I am orthodox myself and its weird to think of the fact that there are people with my blood that are muslim.

Why not the Turks dressed like Assyrians? After all who had the longest civilisation in that region? As for your question, Assyrians in middle east have suffered all kinds of Genocide, Arabization, Kurdification, Ottomnization. So the peoples you meet and they tell you they are arabs or Kurds Christians they are simply the victims of cultural Genocide.

Love this video! Khayet Ashurbanipal for promoting your Assyrian heritage in a beautiful manner.
Let us not argue with people of no understanding. If we look at the world in a historical context, northern Mesopatamia is undeniably the home of the Assyrians, regardless of what it is called today. For people with common sense, this is not a difficult concept to grasp. After all, there was once a time when not a single white man inhabitted the country known today as the United States.

This is a really great video! Thank you so much for the images. I especially like the pictures of the women, which proves the beautiful traditional clothes of women use many similar patterns and fabrics of men's clothes (unlike the images of popular clothes I see a lot on the internet today). I often wondered, because my grandparents' (from Urmia) descriptions were so different from what I had been seeing. Thanks again, and ignore the malicious comments that always seem to pollute our videos!

In my language(romanian/dacian) Ashur can be interpreted as "a sorit" - (sunrise) - Soare in dacian.
Another example is "Rasarit" which is the proper word for sunrise. Can be translated with "Ra se arata" which means "Ra(the egyptian god for sun) is showing".
Sun rays are called "Raza" something derived from Ra + a link word Za(literal link with the sun).
The wise man that was turned into a god by dacians was called Zamolxis. I can guess the locals used other suffix Zamuls(muls) which is translated with "severed link". It suits very well to Zamolxis because most scholars agree he went into Egypt for initiation in mystical arts.

Ashur in Assyrian means "Beginning" or "The Beginning" which was the name for God, sunrise is the beginning of the day.

@goran21715 The kurds who live today in Arbil came to it just 200 years ago, and this fact is from the mouth of tribal their chief who had 8 wives and was interviewed on tv. I am yet to see one archaeological evidence in north Iraq to show it as being related to kurds. Kurds we all know are not Sematic but Caucasian from central asia (ie: Azerbijan). The Ottoman Empire brought them and placed them as buffer zone between itself and its enemy the (Shaia) Persian Empire.

Nearly six million Assyrian Christians dot the world.
Mesopotamia is the homeland of the Assyrians. The famous royal cities of the Assyrians, Ashur, Nimrud (Kalhu), Arbela, Dur-Sharrukin and Nineveh were built in it. The Assyrians ruled for approximately 1,300 years - from about 2000 B.C. to 612/10 BC - in northern Mesopotamia an ancient landscape between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. A clear reference to the existence of the Assyrians, on the other hand, can already be found in the Old Testament (1st Book of Moses 2:14).
    There it says:
    * “… the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates..."
One day we will return to our country. Assyria belongs to the Assyrians. Isaiah 19:23-25

I know that she is from Iran, released one tape written by late Simon Arikhas, her name is Switlana and that’s all that I know about her, some of her songs were later sung by David Sayady. She is unknown and not available on the net, perhaps in the future I might upload her full album on Qeenatha.

The continuity of Ashur depends on two things; 1.The realization of our past, our greatness, our contribution to the world, and 2, The realization that our past is present in our genetics. One day luck may take our side. If we are paying the price of blood, then I feel we've suffered more than enough. If we are paying the price THROUGH blood, then God was wrong in his design. And he can't be, because what I know isn't close to the truth if he exists. There is something deeper than reasoning here. Ashuraye! Qoomoon!
