    In original box, manuals, keyboard and looks to be in good condition... $200 seems totally fair to me on that deal!! Great video Tom!

      Right!! It was very fair, and now that I get to mess around with DOS Games, I love it!

    It's amazing, that Tandy 1000 SX still works.
    Also, it's still awesome to play the old school games of the 1980's and 1990's.
    That's why i never want to lose my
    Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 + games. 😺👍🕹️

    I love how Tandy, with its Tandy 1000, came out with a much superior "IBM PC Jr"

    Don't sleep on the composite output! Yes, it has color fringing effects, but that was used by a lot of early CGA games to get lots more colors than normal. This was particularly heavily used by games ported from Apple ][ such as Dino Eggs or Lode Runner.

    Looks like I found this video late! $200 for a 1000SX was a really great deal in that condition. Memory for it is cheap, and you can install an XT-IDE card to mimic a HDD. My father bought a Tandy 1000SX back in 1987, and it was the first IBM Compatible I ever used. The 8088 wasn't exactly quick, and a couple of years later I bought a Tandy 1000TL. The 286 processor in it made a huge difference at the time. I still have my Tandy 1000TL and it still works fine. The 1000SX was lost to time, unfortunately. Cool video!

      Yep, those are exactly the upgrades I did to my system. More memory and XT-IDE. Loving it! Thanks for Watching!

    Muchas gracias por el video. Saludos desde Cali-Colombia. Yo tuve uno de estos en 1987 muy buenos para juegos, muy buen sonido. Le pusimos Coprocesador matemático y disco duro. Según recuerdo. El monitor era Monocromático de 9 pulgadas y venia tal cual como se ven en este video, pero con Impresora y Mesa lo compramos.

      @FloppyDeepDive  Рік тому +1

      Thanks, Jerry. It’s good to be missed. We don't have basements in Texas. It was my front two bedrooms. One being the new retro room I was redoing. Remember that perfect C64 box in one of my retro deals or dud. It is not so perfect anymore. 😞 It was a mess and fighting insurance to cover it. It was ugly but I think I’m finally through it so I can focus on other things. Still have to fix it and get new carpet but things are starting to get normal again.

    Yep, Tom, I think it’s a fair deal! With original box, manuals, and the Tandy looks like new. 👍 Now you only have to expand the ram 🙂

    $200 for a boxed 1000SX is below the usual going rate these days. I'd have bought it. I have a 1000EX, the less expandable all-in-one unit. I liked the idea of having a smaller machine. There's a card you can get for those to add a serial port, IDE, and expand the memory to 640K and add some upper memory. In your 1000SX, I'd recommend getting an XTIDE adapter so you can load DOS and your games onto a compact flash card. It will make it nicer to use. And you might as well populate the RAM sockets on the board to bring it up to 640K. Maybe add an ISA serial card too, if you want to ever use a mouse with it. Intel made an 8/16 bit Ethernet card that works in a 1000 if you want to be able to put it on your network. And an NEC V20 is a cheap CPU upgrade. We're talking a 10% speed boost but if you want to max out a 1000, it's something most people put on their list.

      Thank you so much for all the tips. I will definitely look into an XTIDE.

    I bought a complete in box Tandy 1000 SX and a complete in box CM-11 monitor for $450, but after shipping and taxes it was $571. It's not an ideal price, but the great condition monitor made it worth it. My ideal price is just a flat $450.

      Nice! I added IdE to SD on it and upgraded my memory. I enjoy this pc a lot! Thanks for watching.

    Great video as always. It seems like it's been awhile since you've posted anything and I was getting a bit concerned.
    $200 seems about right. I would've picked it up at that price, so I guess that classifies it as a deal 🙂
    My favorite game to play back then was MechWarrior. It should run on your machine if you upgrade your ram ( 384K won't cut it), and it advertises use of the Tandy 16 color mode.
    If it was my machine I'd be upgrading the RAM and looking for a flash based HD to boot from. A sound card would be cool too, but it wouldn't be on the top of my list.
    All in all, that machine is a great find. I'd love to own one but I just don't have the space.

      Hey RB! It has been a while trying to get back on schedule.
      I've been thinking of upgrading the RAM. MechWarrior would be awesome to play!
      Thanks for watching!!

    Thexder is my go to Tandy 1000 game. I think you can get more RAM in there and a 3.5" floppy, possibly a low density drive. Otherwise I would keep it just for Tandy Graphics and sound. You could add a VGA card but not needed.

    • @FloppyDeepDive

    Does it really count as a 80s machine? Sure, it was released in the 1980s, but it just feels like it belongs in the 90s.

    • @silkwesir1444
      @silkwesir1444 Рік тому

      Maybe because it took till the 1990s until they washed up as second hand which is when "common folk" started to get in contact with it. That's my theory. Looking forward to any responses.

    • @FloppyDeepDive
      @FloppyDeepDive  Рік тому

      It does feel very early 90’s, but you can't argue facts. In 1987 you could have been playing games on it. It just took me until 2022. 😂

  • @rottmanthan
