Whilst I really like my own country's national anthem "Advance Australia Fair" I've long thought that the most magnificent national anthem in the world is La Marseillaise!

I returned, after my retirement to study French and participate in the class had to take the exam. Since I was the last in line for the oral, after the official exam was over the examiner asked me what was the best method, in my experience, for studying a language I replied 'Fall in love with your teacher.' He must have repeated it because she treated me with great caution afterwards, but I think it is true. I had a French Fiancé, and some time after she was killed I had a German partner, so I had a double incentive to learn languages, but a word of caution. My cat, Jezebel was fascinated by my German partner, 'It was the perfume she wore, I think, because she did not speak German.
