We take quick look at the shop floor at The Armoury Tribeca, our home in New York for the past 7 years.

What a selection! The first navy jacket is gorgeous, and the shirt&tie you paired it with really pops.
I don't know why I am watching 21fw stuff at this point, but your shirt looks absolutely amazing, very interesting stripe!
Your olive sport coat is my favourite piece from the collection, but i guess that's because i'm on a wool pattern fabric kick right now! I had to go back and watch part 2 of the selection video, for some reason all these pieces seem to be a bit of a surprise, but indeed, they're all exactly as you described! Hope to get to NY next spring myself to see more jackets in person.
Thanks for the comment, glad you like the olive sport coat! To be honest, some of these pieces are a bit of a surprise to me as well. With so many pieces being ordered at once, I felt much more prepared to take some risks on the choices. This was kind of the purpose of the whole exercise, though. I wanted to try and put together a little collection that was not built on legacy choices but completely new, which I think was mostly successful.
Your model 3 jacket followed by the French cycling inspired jacket are my favorites

I love the tab collar shirt from the first mannequin, especially it's colour!! It is the perfect 'rare' shade of blue... don't know what sense that makes. Haha. Great video as always Mark.

Thank you! Yes, the NY stores are a bit bigger than the HK stores so we actually have some space to move around. Alex has been a great counterpart to Sam in Hong Kong. Elliot, our communications director, was also lurking in the background with a stills camera.

Mark looks very fresh in New York. He cut his hair and overall he seems more energetic than in HK.

@@markchodotcom Must be nice getting out of Hong Kong for a change. Just the change of scenery along with other stimuli usually spikes my creativity and energy. Might even make me more extraverted.

Hello Mark..your interview with Mr. FUKUDA was impressive
I really like the modified 101. The lapel area looks a bit more "settled" and structured; more like (vintage) Brioni/Roman than Neapolitan. Love the return of a little bit more broadness and heft in places where it fits in organically with the Armoury's overall preference of lightness and comfort.
Also those gold buttons... Is british structure sneaking back through the window - or is it more of a New York-only kind of thing? Greetings from Germany
Well observed, personally I've been on a bit of a gold button kick. I made the recent collaboration with Mr Slowboy with brass buttons, too. Thanks for your comment, glad you noticed so many of the changes with the 101!
You forgot to take about the shirt, I believe you had selected that fabric also.

Mark, what are your thoughts on peaked lapels vs. notched lapels? I think peaked lapels look better on broad-shouldered guys whereas the notched lapels look better for slimmer types.
The 101 was my favorite. Beautiful!

Thank you! Actually the buttons were supplied by Ring Jacket. I'm not sure who supplies them but they aren't anything particular esoteric. Relatively plain, semi-matte brass buttons.

I think that you also ordered another jacket with a glen check and red overcheck also from Fox Brothers. I'm not sure if you ordered them in the end though
I think they were out of stock ... ? I tallied up what I had selected using coins at the end of the last video and I had to drop a few things because of that.
Hi Mark, love the jackets, esp. the Road jacket variant. // I was curious to hear what you think of the direction Drake's has taken over the last few years. It seems that with each season they wane further from traditional styling into more of a zeitgeisty approach. Not saying this is necessarily negative, but it is most definitely different.
Thanks for the comment. I don't weigh in on any product decisions at Drake's, the look of the brand is primarily determined by Michael Hill who was Michael Drake's right hand man for many years. The look has indeed evolved with the times to include appealing to a younger demographic. This is party borne out of hopes for what Drake's can be as a menswear brand and also what Michael is currently interested in personally. I wouldn't say Drake's ever moved on from its "classic" roots. People often forget that Drake's is not actually that old. It was started in 1977 by Michael Drakes as a fairly fun and colourful menswear brand that wasn't about an overtly conservative, traditional look even back then. It's just when we look at what Drake's was doing thirty years ago from today's perspective, it seems much more classic than it would have appeared to its audience back then. Despite having moved on from the company, Michael Drake still buys and wears a lot of things from the current collection, I assume because he likes it and sees it as the spiritual successor to what he first started.
@@markchodotcom When you explain it like that, Drake's current styling makes a lot more sense. From a lot of people's perspectives, especially those of us who found Drake's in their 2015-17 run, what they are doing now is pretty different to what we were used to in those years. This season's bright and playful ties, the continuation of the boiled wool vest and the hoodies seem anathema to what we had. Personally, what got me into Drake's was seeing those images of Jason Jules propped up on a stool wearing a checked, brown jacket and a deep purple sweater, a beanie perfectly resting on his head, the classic, printed scarf draped nonchalantly around his neck. I do respect the change and will eagerly await to see what the Drake's squad does in the future.

It's our buttondown collar shirt made by Ascot Chang. This was one of the fabrics I picked in the previous capsule collection videos. It's an old cotton shirting fabric that they had in stock. Glad you like it!

Sometimes I think clothes at The Armoury are luxurious; sometimes it seems a bit of a rummage sale. I see a mix of both in this array.
I love the channel, but 2 things. Stop saying “cazh”. You’re in a high end men’s fashion business. It’s “casual”. Leave “cazh” for the frat boys around the bar. Also, the word “innovative” is pronounced “in-no-VAY-tive”. I do love the channel though and have enjoyed hours upon hours of advice and information. Keep up the great work. Just a bit of constructive criticism.
