Absolutely love the fact that you documented your rollover. I'm sorry it happened, but it is good to have people see this. Always use your ROPS and seat belt when available.
Great comment! I’ve had two small John Deere tractors, the owner manual for both specified if the ROPS was up the seat belt should be used! Spencer was lucky, thank goodness! Keep spreading the word!! ROPS save lives!
First off, glad you are O.K. We have had more than our share of young farmers ( some Kids ) killed by rolling a tractor into the ditch. Secondly you did a great job of explaining a corn crop seed to finish. Best I have seen so far. The fact that you showed footage start to finish I think is what made it so easy to understand. Great job.
The corn looks awesome after seeing what the field looked like when you started this spring!!!!!! can't wait to see what the yields look like!!!!!Good job so far Spencer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Accident happen, as long as you learn from experience. You were lucky this time , it will hopefully make you more aware of your surroundings and avoidable risks. Excellent video.
Spencer, if you continue to farm in the years to come, this will go down as one of several times you will dodge the bullet. All we can do is to operate our equipment as carefully as possible realizing that an accident can happen any time. Good to know that you have been blessed with walking away from this one.
Good video, Spencer. Glad you are okay. I rolled a JD3010 NF over in the grader ditch in June 1971. I was going to one of our other farms to hook up the rotary hoe and was traveling at road speed when it happened, and it happened fast. In the blink of an eye. A lot of pain and in shock. I was 13 years old. Back then we didn't have rollover protection. I suffered a broken leg, cracked ribs, and a ruptured spleen. I was in the hospital for 19 days. They said I was lucky to have survived. The medical bill was $1200 but the tractor repairs was almost $4000. Hard to believe that 19 days in the hospital and the surgery and everything was only $1200 when we look at what medical costs today.
Congrats on your first roll over tractor, when I was in college a guy said every harvest year they averaged 2 roll overs a year,!that was in Wales. Great corn bud 👍🏻
So good to have this video, Spencer. You have a God given gift to make complicated repairs. Great to see. Well done with the corn. You are doing well. Thanks so much for sharing and yes, thank God, you were careful and you are safe.
As someone who’s rolled some heavy metal before😊 I’m honestly glad your ok. Don’t end that way often so huge plus there. Things look great jealous of all the green from out here in Arizona.
You make REALLY good videos, Spencer! The way you think things through and then lay out the explanation/analysis covers all the bases with all the important information (how many acres they cover in one tank with the drone and their battery life and charging time are only a few great examples of your detail) I have to watch one soon of how you transformed the acreage......taken all together, you are really going at the challenge and mastering it! I see how much great experience you are gaining season by season!! You are becoming seasoned, by the fruits of your own efforts. It's the ideal way, imo. I'm glad you have experienced people you can draw on in your circle. That's very important to not try to reinvent the wheel each step of the way. That's a big part of the best parts of being a human being...our collective knowledge and our ability to communicate it. This enables each new generation to evolve, and to bring society as a whole to a new phase of development with it! As far as tipping the small tractor, now you have a great story to tell from your beginnings, when you're wearing your cool hat from the '80s and you've become something of an old-timer yourself. But let's not rush it! You have years of youthful growth ahead of you! Thanks for letting us in on the process!
Man you are lucky to be alive. Ive known so many who did not survive a roll over. ROPs are you friend on a tractor and will save your life. Corn is looking great! Looks forward to the next video.
Hi Spencer, First of all, I am so glad that you survived the accident without injury. A few days ago I discovered Grant's channel and I became almost addicted because one of my biggest dreams is to one day start my own farm from 0. Grant said in a video that you have a channel too, and so suddenly the number of channels I'm addicted to is become 2. I congratulate you both for the wonderful work you have done and pay my respects. But I have to admit, I liked your channel content more. Because the videos are like documentaries, they cover a long process from beginning to end. I live in Turkey, and our fields here are mostly not very big (of course, there are huge fields of thousands of acres, and even the largest single piece of farmland in the world is in Turkey), and because of this, I have always been attentive to the American farms I watch on UA-cam. But the work you have done has almost connected me to yourself. I watched all your videos in one sitting. My grandfather is also a farmer and I have spent most of my time on the farm in the village since I was a child (unfortunately, except for the last few years ). I mean, I understand a little bit about agriculture, and the development of your corn has amazed me. I thought you'd get a much weaker corn because of the problems you've been having with the ground. I'm so happy for you. Anyway, I guess I made it too long 😅 Greetings from Turkey, from the other side of the world. (and also sorry for my english, I'm not a native... )
I might got some help from translate 😅 By the way, is the end of this video from a recent time? What is the condition of the corn now and how long do you have until harvest? In my city , Adana, the corn harvest is around the end of July, the beginning of August, I don't know exactly when your city's harvest season is.
Glad you're alright. I'm new to farming. I try to be conservative when driving the tractor, but I have some wild terrain on my property. Almost rolled a couple times.
Sometimes we learn from watching and other times we learn from doing. You're channel has been a great example of learning from doing and I have to say you've been a great student Spence. I'm remembering what the field looked like when you first started and in a few short months you've brought it to what a lot of farmers would be proud of. You should be also. Glad to see you dodged the tractor bullet buddy. Looking forward to your yield numbers best of luck
Recommendation....learn how your bucket can be used to extract your tractor from a stuck spot, and also the possibility of using the offset weight of lifting the mower to get a different center of gravity. Those can help with these situations.
Glad your ok, when I seen the picture before watching the video the first thought that popped into my head was to use super strength to flip it back over. Side note you might look into getting a 15ft batwing brush hog for that 4020
That's why on the 4020 run with the loader a foot foot and a half off the ground with it above the hood like you had it raking 1 gopher or badger hole is all it takes for a top heavy machine to go over I have a 4020 that had a grinder mixer and chains on all winter it doesn't have a straight body panel on it my kids wouldn't listen and went up and down the hills with the loader so high they could see under it not over it and its been over more times than id like to admit at least it had 4 post OROPS and canopy and a seat belt ive rebuilt the OROPS so many times it now has limb risers and is built out of an old Cat D7G OROPS cut down to fit a Deere luckily the worst injury has been a torn rotator cuff and with that little tractor always wear your seat belt hold onto the bottom of the wheel if you feel trouble coming and never jump to safety if you can't get up fast enough and the ROPs don't work it can come on over another time and get you there's no better office view than from the seat of any vehicle on the farm don't mess thar up and make us see you injured in a hospital bed or hear worse from your ole lady family and or friends if you need any safety tricks or tips I can sure tell you what I did as a teenager that busted myself up that at 27 1 day I stepped off the dozer and I couldn't feel from mid back to my toes my "roommates" didn't know what to do they all left and found someone else to support them even my wife of 16 years dumped my 11 kids off at my parents and said I can't do this 3 days after waking from a 3 month coma and I was making money again against Dr advice I walked out and supervise for the most part but again disabiliy don't pat the bills i landscape run an old Amish sawmill bringing enough in nobody had to work she thought helping elderly that didn't want to go anywhere helping them stay away from the basement ķeeping an eye on me not then was a brilliant idea turns out not so much she was charged with felony neglect and abuse of the elderly and disabled she got 3 tears probation 10k fine and lost all her licenses even certified ass wiper (CNA)
Amazing stuff Spencer, very cool to see your development with mechanical skills, you’re welcome to come over to the good part of Iowa and show me something anytime 😉
Most people probably keep the roll bar down because of trees, but you did the right thing and folded it up before you started. Could have really ended badly Did anyone notice the animal taking off through the corn when the drone came by at 8:55?
Happy ya didn't get hurt, but I think ya should with the hill so if something happens you only slide and not tip over....one thing I would be interesting on what drone spraying cost vs having a sprayer on the ground
That sucks I done that with a old 4020 about 10 years ago I shoved into a creek one of the worst things about was when that arm rest just about vileated by a arm rest my but crack was so sore and burned you are probably wondering how it got burned well I’ll tell you when I got flopped in the creek that fertilizer buggy threw triple 19 all over and you guess it went down my pants while I was checking over all the damage my but really went to burning felt like somebody pouring gas and lightning it shew I was on fire so here I go threw the feild naked rubbing my but threw the grass like a dog I don’t know what done the most damage the arm rest or the fertilizer but glad your all right stay safe watch out for your self
it is smart to put up the roll bar but I've my dad and my grandpa all have got caught on trees with mowers and old tractors and made my dad and grandpa flip once or twice I have came close wile mowing with zero turn
Glad you had the Guard in place, better safe than sorry!!!! imagine if that happened on FS. you would still be under the ground!!! or forever flying in the sky! Farming in real life is a lot more challenging and fun at the same time! one Question why did Iowa convert so many rural roads back to gravel? government thinks its smarter? they still have to maintain the roads, and there would seem to be more rocks through windshields?
You should always have your seatbelt on. Never leave the seat during an event. the likelyhood you will sustain major life altering injury increases by 90%.

Glad you’re alright dude! Accidents happen. If the worst thing from this is a bruised ego, you’re doing good
what the ego would do if he posted it on UA-cam just glad he is okay and I think I'll start putting up the rops

Them little compact tractor's, rollover so easy. 😮
Definitely glad you’re ok. Tractors can be fixed or replaced. I hope you and grant have a successful harvest this fall.

Working on it now. Will post Saturday morning. Had some hiccups.
That’s some seriously tall corn 🌽 looks awesome!

Drones spraying crops is some Interstellar, scifi level stuff to me. Very cool!😂
Next year try becks seed we have been using it for about 10 years now and we love it
We’ve averaged 250 bushels to the acre
I havent watched it yet but I know it will be a good video!

What is cost analysis on drone spraying vs airplane spraying?
You should always have your seatbelt on.
Never leave the seat during an event. the likelyhood you will sustain major life altering injury increases by 90%.
I had a friend drive his Ford 9N into a lake with a brush hog.
How much does it cost to spray one acre with a drone?
Keep this nice videos up pls
Was that a bulging rubber hydraulic hose on the right-hand side of the loader frame? If it was, you better see to it before it blows up in your face and spits out all your hydro oil.
Are you okay after the accident
You should of put your bucket all the way to the ground when you felt it tipping
And never jump off that could of killed you
AND YOUR SEAT BELT!!! Oh and some clean underwear
The tractor was just tired it wanted a nap
What's that running away from the drone at 8.54?
I like your truck is it a 6.0 powerstroke
8:55 is that a deer under the drone?
Now you all see why you need roll-over-bars.
Have to pay attention.
Did anyone else see that animal at 8:54?
