    Hi Russ, enjoying the trip from central Az. Those bushes with the yellow flowers sticking out are called brittle bush. The plants you referred to as Joshua trees are actually in the yucca family. The tall spindly plants are ocotillo, the orange flower plants are globe mallow and are quite common as a roadside plant. The 3-5 ft bushes with the greenish yellow leaves are creosote,one of the oldest plants on the planet. Love your videos.

    The drone footage adds a nice dimension to the show. We rarely know what’s near us until we see an aerial shot.

    G'day again from NSW Australia. This is my kind of country. I was self driving through Arizona/New Mexico way back in 1993. If I was with you I'd be constantly looking down at my feet checking the rocks and minerals while you'd be looking at the cacti.

    Thanks Russ for showing me your piece of the USA. Alien but wonderful scenery for someone in the midwest that's never been to the southwest. Especially entertaining for "house bound folks".
    Nice camera work and choreography.
    Well done sir.

I love the cactus they are beautiful. I have been watching your channel every time you post a new one and sometimes I go back and watch the ones before I found your channel. Happy Trails/Be Safe

    Awe man what a majestic place. Yes, when I'm out trail riding I wonder how in the world did the first pioneers find there way across such rugged terrain in wooden wagons filled with everything they owned. Thanks for taking us gallivanting around the desert with you. You will go down in history along side of Christopher Columbus, Lewis&Clark and John Wesley Powell. I call shotgun on the next ride!

    Howdy Russ,
    Great job on your videos. My wife and I planned on being full-time RVers by now but it looks like it'll be next year darn it! We live in Washington State, south of Seattle at the base of Mt. Rainier. Still getting a bit of snow here in our front yard. Yuck!
    For the past 6 years, we've traveled to Arizona (2 weeks vacation each year) scouting out places to go when we hit the road. Always enjoy the Kingman/Quartzite area when we pass through on our way to Apache Junction and other great places around the state. Thanks for taking us along as you scout out the area. We appreciate it. Maybe we'll see you on the road when we finally get to head that-a-way. Stay safe and be healthy!

    We ride up there all the time, you can go thru that gate as long as you close it back, it really starts to get interesting farther up from where you turned around, if you go up past the ranch house you will see a trail that goes to the right and it will take you to a abandoned community.....Really cool stuff!

  • @StumblesandFumbles
    @StumblesandFumbles 4 роки тому +2

    Another excellent video. Just past where you turned around is the Walnut Creek Ranch (I believe that’s it’s current name). That’s whose cattle you saw. Continue past the ranch and you would go through the old Heritage survivalist camp. Not sure if anyone is still living in there. That road continues up to the ridge but who knows if it’s still passable and meets the ridge road. Turn right there and it turns into Boriana Mine Road. Again. Excellent video and thanks for sharing. Stay Healthy everyone.

    Didn't scroll all the way through comments....but some of the cactus names.....'that thing' that's about to bloom-ocotilla, the fuzzy looking ones-cholla (we call them 'jumping cactus', cuz they seem to 'jump' on you....nasty things when you get stuck, also looked like some staghorn (could be wrong), prickly pear. I have lived in Phoenix for over 33 years. Consider myself a desert rat. New sub here. Love the vids so far. Can't get out much for exploring like I used to. thank you.

    Hi Russ, we live just down the road about 10 miles from where you are located. We have taken the Cactus Garden ride and if you keep going it is really beautiful but it is an all day trip but well worth the time. Don't know if you have ventured up Boriana Mine Road where the gold fish ponds are or out Alamo Road almost to the dam and then go up through the Red Canyons. Absolutely Beautiful! We enjoy your videos even though we have been to a lot of the same areas. Never get enough of the desert and mountains.

    I think that big wash is the Black Rock Wash, which splits a bunch of times, eventually flowing over a corner of my future 'ranch.' (lol) You need 4WD to get across some part of that wash on any of our roads, so a person can do some serious physical distancing out in Mary's Land! Maybe me next winter... It is so cool to see your videos of the unknown areas that surround my inherited desert dream. If you hadn't done this video, I wouldn't have known of this beautiful preserve.
