Dig the painters analogy, and totally can understand that. Do you ever find yourself with all of the “paints” and movement of a cityscape at your fingertips, and on the flip side ever catch yourself wishing you had the stillness or backdrop of a small town? Even if for particular moments / images. Canvas can have nuance, no? Inspiration and energy not always needing to be grandiose, or bustling.
Love the question, I'd say maybe depending on the familiarity. I've come to the conclusion that I can enjoy those images from other photographers more because of the disconnect I have as the viewer with the place it was taken. So perhaps a small town that's unfamiliar to me might peak my interest more than one that is
