  • This fall, we expect to see several developments at the intersection of climate and trade policy. The European Union and United States are negotiating the Global Arrangement for Sustainable Steel and Aluminum (GASSA) against a hard deadline on October 31. The EU is starting to collect information related to the carbon-intensity of imports, a prelude to its upcoming border carbon adjustment. And a potential wave of Chinese-manufactured EVs is raising new trade cases in Europe.
To get a better grip on what we might expect to see, and what it means for the evolution of climate and trade policy, we are convening, Sagatom Saha, Adjunct Research Scholar, Center on Global Energy Policy, Columbia University SIPA, Emily Benson, Director, Project on Trade and Technology and Senior Fellow, Scholl Chair in International Business, CSIS, Ilaria Mazzocco, Senior Fellow, Trustee Chair in Chinese Business and Economics, CSIS, and Joseph Majkut, Director, Energy Security and Climate Change Program, CSIS, to discuss these policy developments and the undercurrents of climate and industrial policy that are driving them.
    This event is online only.
This event is made possible by general support to CSIS and the CSIS Energy Security and Climate Change Program.
