Southeast Asian States Panel - ICESCO's IWAIC Regional Workshop in Muscat

The Omani capital, Muscat, hosted the Islamic World AI Charter Regional Workshop (IWAIC) Asia and Middle East Regions, organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in partnership with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman, and in collaboration with the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. The workshop took place on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2024, as part of the activities of #ICESCOChairForArtificialIntelligenceEthics, and brought together high-level participation from officials, experts, and researchers from 23 countries.
In this video, the Regional Insights: Perspectives on AI in the Asia and Middle East Regions session focused on Southeast Asian States (Panel 5), was moderated by Prof. Emmanuel R. Goffi, Philosopher and Applied Ethics Expert. Speakers from the Maldives, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam highlighted the need to integrate AI in promoting education, fostering economic growth, improving healthcare, enhancing public services, and developing a highly educated and skilled workforce.
