Mercedes Dealership SCRATCHED My AMG's Steering Wheel! (Euro Motorcars Bethesda)

  • Hate to make this type of video but hope my negative experience serves as a warning to others.
I took my C63 AMG to Euromotorcars in Bethesda, Maryland and received it back from an alignment with several coarse scratches on the flat-bottom of my steering wheel, for which their management took zero accountability. Later on in the video I attempt to repair the scratches myself and demonstrate how simple this all could've been. After years of patronage this is totally unacceptable from any shop, let alone a high volume Mercedes dealership.

Wow that’s crazy bro. They need have more respect for their customers and take notes. Leave it to the Mercedes King such as yourself to get the job done. Sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands. I’d feel the same way ESPECIALLY from a Mercedes Dealership. Unfortunate that this situation happen to you, but glad to see another video lol.

Went to Huntvalley Mercedes here in MD a year ago for my C350, they left my dipstick halfway open which I thought was unacceptable. I always prefer choosing well known independent shops like Autowerks for this exact reason. Sorry this happened to you

It can be a jacket zipper or coarse jean pants touched the steering wheel and made a scratch.
Also some microfiber cleaning towels can create scratches on leathers and plastics.
Touch of products which contain alcohol can create cracks on leather too.
For me, it was the mechanic zipper which made a scratch.
For my brothers’ car, they used alcoholic product (anti bacteria) during Covid which created similar marks on the gear shifter leather

The only way it happens is a tech holding something in his hand, not wearing gloves, or excessive pressure when gripping. When the dealer takes a car in they are suppose to go around the car with a clip board checking off condition and noting ANY wear and tear inside or out. If they did not do so they did not follow process. I would be insulted considering the pristine condition of this car. I would post a negative review and link to the video FWIW. Lack of integrity by this dealer.

Agreed that they’re in the wrong and should’ve done something. Honestly though, you spent way more time going back and forth with them asking to make the same repair it took you 5 mins. Seems real silly and a huge waste of time if you weren’t expecting a new steering wheel out of it (which is what I would’ve been expecting) Dealerships are careless yes, but to go back and forth with them just in hopes of them applying leather conditioner for you “to make it right” is pretty petty.

The thing is I didn’t go back and forth, gave them one chance to make it right and they didn’t so here we are. I can handle the damage myself but it’s the principle of paying $200+ for a service to get your car roughed up and returned like this. How would you like it?

Post Covid customer service in the USA has gone down the toilet. Dealerships are absolutely despicable and the service advisors are a**holes. I work for a large company and we buy thousands of products from Stellantis. Dealerships treat me like trash constantly even though we purchase thousands of vehicles from them every year. I’m in the Massachusetts area and over the almost 4 years I’ve worked with here I only trust one dealership in this entire state. It’s horrible. I’ve literally picked up vehicles from warranty repair to have the service advisors refuse to tell me what was fixed or what the issue was or provide me with paperwork so I can log it into our maintenance software. Last year I had 3 separate dealerships refuse work on a brand new dodge vehicle. When a dealership did accept it they didn’t fix it properly and had to turn vehicle around and bring it back. Or I’ve had a dealership try to tell me that I would have to take vehicle back to the dealership of origin which was in Miami Florida. They are utter garbage and I’ve almost literally challenged their workers to fist a fight because how rude and combative they are. After seeing how I was treated there I refuse to bring them any business of my own. They deserve everything that is coming their way.
