Windows 98 startup sound didn't lag on emulated Celeron 533, which is excellent. What the host CPU do you use? I wanted to ask this question because PCem and 86Box are the most CPU-demanding emulators that rely on a single-core (single-thread) performance, unlike RPCS3 (PS3 emulator) that is multi-threaded and requires at least 8 cores.
I am wondering that too; I got Win10, i7 5820K, RTX 3090, 32GB RAM, setup using Pentium II with Voodoo 3, the sound stuttering like crazy at start up without running any games yet lol, everything feels slow LOL Is my PC too weak? Even with RTX 3090?
@@GraysonVoisinet I think you can check out the Single Thread performance ranking in CPU Benchmark. i9-14900KS has a whopping 4,867 single thread points for now, although, still unstable due to problems of Intel Core 13th and 14th Gens. I'd suggest waiting for Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D instead of buying Ryzen 9 9950X without extra 3D cache that early.

A 144-qubit QPU would have an ABSOLUTELY INTERSTELLAR single-threaded performance of a whopping 10^56 points just to be able to emulate ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING in both 86Box (for 32-bit systems) and 64Box (for 64-bit systems), even a 2038 overkill PC with Windows 12 Pro + RTX 9090 Ti + Ryzen Ultra 9 595X3D (19950X3D) + 256GB 32,000 MT/s DDR8 in 64Box at 100% without any stutters!

I use Windows 98 on 86Box, but mine’s a Pentium II.
