An added layer I would also consider... I use Modernia heavily not because she has the highest top-end, but because she is the most user-friendly. Considering that a majority of the gameplay is easy dailies/events, Modernia accels in these because of her infinite ammo, namely during things such as interceptions where you can let it auto and then quickly manual to hit interruptions parts, etc. Whereas with other units such as Scarlet, Alice, etc. for man of them you have to to 1) charge the shots manually, meaning more effort due to charge and release vs. simply aiming and 2) you may switch over to manual and they're in the middle of a reload and miss out on the window. So overall I view Modernia as a huge QoL improvement for daily play rather than a min-max pick.
this, along with the fact that her aoe burst has a lot of utility that's not just pure damage. she can block essentially all damage from chatterbox's missiles along with quickly taking out blacksmith's bombs with her burst.
Got MLB Modernia this patch thanks to having 400 mileage after RH, helped me breakthrough the 160 wall as well as grabbing a copy of Scarlet alt. My account is in safe pilgrim hands and I couldn't be happier with my 2024 start. Thank you for all the videos that help people like me make decisions as always Tim!

for beginners i think modernia is a better choice since scarlet shadow relies more on gear buffs to unlock her maximum potential
For those looking for a quick answer, look no further.
Don't skip Modernia she trivializes A LOT of content especially if you're a new player. Her burst is hands down one if not the best burst in the game. She makes it so all Nikkes focus fire with her and Modernia herself has an unlimited magazine and when she goes brrrrrrrrr everything dies. Additionally her burst is an auto aim for missiles/bombs and makes it so you can progress/clear Special Interceptions WAY easier.
The above being said SB:Scarlet is also very good and even though she's a Rocket Launcher (RL) character she outputs good dmg with minimal investment. I have her on base T9 gear at lvl 0 (none are Pilgrim Manufacture) at skill lvls: 5/6/4 and she did 82million on a Union Raid boss, she did have Liter buffing her so that obviously helps.
Overall my recommendation for pulling are as follows:
1. Pull for Modernia (only 1 copy is realistically needed for all Nikke's, each additional copy for all Nikkes sees ~2% dmg increase per copy) then pull for Scarlet.
2. If you have golden tickets saved I would pity Modernia and use pulls for Scarlet.
3. If you're going purely for waifu, technically Modernia's story is "better" and I would pull/pity her. If you're pulling for waifu appearance only SB:Scarlet all day imo.
4. If you're just at a wall in general for campaign/interceptions I would pull for Modernia all day every day, srsly her burst is ludicrous

In my case I already had Modernia at Max from last year, but I ended up getting her to show up on "Scalter's" banner. But I hope that those who pulled on her banner end up getting both if they are still needing both. So this time around I only pulled on "Scalter" banner since you had asked, Tim! Used free gems on the free SSR to complete my bunny core (Noir), then got Scarlet-Shadow from a YOLO 10-pull with the last bit of my gems! LMAO
I only pulled on the scarlet banner got 2 modernias ( one was at the first multi) felt unreal. Made me triple check if i was on the right banner every time. Finally got scarlet on the 12th multi. Was a pretty good pulling session.
I did 120 pulls on scarlet banner and got 2 harrans and one isabel. I got 200 tickets so I redeemed them for scarlet. Then i did ONE pull on the standard banner and got modernia. Then i pulled on the selector banner and got rapunzel. Used the selector to get blanc to pair her with noir. Best pull session ive ever had in a gacha game

I already have Red Hood mlb and she feels really good for bosses, and I have a few other decent dps for now. this time I'm picking waifu over meta and going for Modernia mlb instead. Was saving all my golds for her this whole time anyway. Hopefully will get one of the Scarlets through pulls in the future

I pulled Modernia during Ludmilla's banner (next 10 pull was followed by three copies of Ludmilla). I got Scarlet in two 10 pulls 👀

I use redhood with the new scarlet shadow. Red hood still provides charge dmg for scarlet as well as atk boost if liter is on cooldown. Also the burst generationis alot faster so you burst in no time.

day1 player already had mlb modernia thx to the banner and other summons left and right and got scarlet black shadow mlb with 6 multis and 1 mileage purchase eheh
I alone as a F2P shall be blessed by heavens on Nikke and Genshin (got furnia c2 with around 100 wishes, c1 raiden on soft pity got 2 in 1 multi, got homa staff before pity and early pulled aqua simulacra right after, and many more, lots of lucky summons on those 2 gachas)
If I was pulling on sentimentality I'd be pulling for Modernia, if I was going off aesthetics as the tie breaker I'd go for Scarlet because her animations are just so unique and flashy. Lucky for me I've already got Modernia at core 2 and was able to dump everything into beefing up Scarlet. I'm curious how long it'll be before we see them power creep Alice though.

Couldn't pull the new scarlet, but did get the normal one off a standard 10 pull. Then Modernia through a pilgrim mold. So a loss to a double win. Soooo I technically got both.
I realized that Modernia was on the summon pool for the Scarlet: Black Shadow banner. So, I used all my Advanced Recruit Vouchers and gems to pull on that banner to hopefully get one and then pity for the other. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a Rapunzel dupe and 2 other off-banner SSRs. So, I used the Golden Mileage Tickets for Modernia because I need her to beat certain bosses/maps, and I also had her skin. I'm still going to try to pull for Scarlet: Black Shadow, but my hope is dwindling as we only have a week left on her banner.

Pulling for Modernia also gave me Red hood. I'm pillong up crystals again because i want to try to get in the selector to get Noir. If it gets too close to the end of the banners, and i can't get noir, i'll use my pulls for Scarlet. Otherwise... Choco bunny it is.
Ngl I would have been crazy to pass it Modernia. I used my mileage to get my last copy of Modernia so I could mlb her. I at least got one new Scarlet copy so i’m happy.

If I had to choose I'd still pick Modernia because Hanakana.
Nikke needs to have some unique Nikkes which are mid to late game viable and unlocked + LB'ed only by grinding the corresponding permanent content so that F2Ps who are saving for a specific banner still have a good unit to work towards if they need to do several skips in a row. I know there's that weird affection type system but it's not enough after the game has been out for so long.
As i a Scarlet lover run both on the same team. Mordenia go with Red Hood team.

19k gems (and among the pulls, it gave me a dupe modernia, making her to Core 2), didnt get Scarlet Black Shadow, soo i use my 200 gold mileage for 1 scarlet black shadow, and thank god they gave 2024 gems, time to save again i guess.....
and sadly, i might not roll on the new year .... ill just wait for Naga and Tia if they can spook me from time to time.... thank god i have the bunny girls and redhood MLB.

the only thing I don't understand is why Modernia banner as a bigger rate on Pilgrims than Scarlet Banner does, maybe cause Scarlet is a new pilgrim and dilutes the pool among them further?
So yeah, it's because of that, modernia's banner has one less unit than scarlet's banner (same number of units as red hood's one) so that results in that scarlet's banner probability's of pilgrims get diluated more (as there's one more unit).
Had 400 tickets Scarlett Black was the easiest decision I had in Nikke.
I have 200 left now. My Modernia is 2* would MLB her but we don't know whats happening next!

Yes, and if you have any left over gems after modernia get naga from the step up banner. Lots of late story chapter has shields that take like 500 hits to break which will be a nightmare for non-modernia havers
Modernia is a must have, definitely try to get her.
If you manage to get 200 mileage by the time you ended pull Modernia banner, thats good but if not, I still suggest her as she's very good at pretty much all content especially story campaign.
The step up banner is good for fishing the unit that has elude you for long. I suggest you try to get both , step up banner cost 6.6k gems which is pretty cheap . I myself got 3SSR(dupes) along with the SSR selector from the step up banner. Modernia banner we don't know if it will be ever get rerun again. So farm up those gems and try to get her at least 1 copy
I don't know why I can't edit my previous comment but if you can't manage to get 200 gold mileage ticket by the time you finish pulling modernia banner (not getting her) , i suggest you to spend on step up Banner first as that will guaranteed you at least 1 SSR of your choice before trying your luck at modernia Banner. Don't worry advance ticket will be given free at later date and you still have time to accumulate so much gems before Modernia banner runs out

Honestly Modernia is excellent for pushing campaign, I do not feel this way about scarlet alter. I also have the og scarlet.

I'm good on Marian, she's C3 already. I just don't feel enthusiastic about Scalter, C1 Red Hood, used all my gems, building a new character seems like a pain. RH is still top tier anyway

My current team uses Dorothy, schoolgirls, redhood and modernia. I have the bunny girls, liter, black scarlet and core 4 alice with overload gear. Im aiming for dps, but dont know who to build.
cant go wrong with Black Scarlet tbh.
I built RH but not yet complete still hella strong using her for SI raid to farm the gears and rocks.
Kinda wish we could remove OL gear I'd remove Drunk Scar's OL and put it into Black Scar.
- You'll build everyone eventually since you need multiple teams, don't sweat it.
- Alice is your most built unit? Ideally BScarlet pairs with her because she benefits well from Alice's massive CS buff, but I'd recommend RH first because she helps you push campaign/hard/tower more than BScar does, since stages are short and last at most 2-3 burst rotations and that's where RH makes quick work against the minibosses using her B1+B3 when they appear. Alice bursts first with Liter. I'm assuming you do manual play.
- Against 3 minute bosses, BScar will do better than RH with Alice against non-pierce bosses.
- Against raid content where you need multiple teams, I'd recommend Liter/Bscar/Modernia for bunnies team and Doro/Alice/RH for schoogirls team. As good as BScar is with Alice, the problem with Modernia is she doesn't mesh well with schoolgirls as she is forced to burst in a 1-1-2-3-3 team setup, which drops your single target DPS. So Modernia needs to be with bunnies with Noir bursting instead of her, she also benefits from Liter/Noir's ammo buff and can shoot near forever with bastion and an additional OL ammo line or two. BScar also shoots forever with Liter/Noir's buff. But if you have OL ammo line on BScar you can move her to schoolgirls with Alice, and move RH with Modernia.
@@FrizFroz originally i wasnt thinking of building alice since i heard she requires high investment. But ive kept getting lucky with my pulls and i could fully OL her + a bunch of shard stacked up. But i dont know if shes worth it or not
@@thebush6379 Oh, absolutely. Currently Alice is still the unit with the highest damage ceiling. But she needs proper OL lines (2x CS, max ammo, attack) and 10/4/10 skill investment to perform optimally. If you have rocks and T9 gear on other dps to OL and you’re short on resources, units like RH and Modernia are easier to build.
Its so hard i don't want to replace modernia and red hood and i have bunny girls on my tean so theyll have to go and i might have to go for a full damage team with no healer
luckily i already had Modernia, so i went for Scarlet, who i got after 4 multis (came with my first Naga).
when i went for the step up, decided to shoot for Tia since i didn't have one, but then i pulled her on the first step. i went ahead and finished the step up, but now idk who to go for on the Selection Box. already have the bunnies. any suggestions?
have Liter? if no get her. if you have her maybe you can wait until you get one of the schoolgirls and use the selector on the other.

Scarlet is definitely worth the pulls. I've tested her out against my red hood which is 2* and my scarlet is only 0*. My red hood is also more well invested than my scarlet. Yet my scarlet deals way more dmg than my red hood. She definitely takes the spot of queen dps now i think. But still despite all that i still feel modernia is more worth the pulls. Cuz scarlet is only have insane dmg. While modernia she can easily clear mobs, easy replenish energy, easily destroy those rockets, easier to play and lastly easier to clear those interception of bosses heavy attacks. Modernia has way more utility. She just brings way more quality of life.
Man if i lucky enough to pull 2nd scarlet copy i will go full mlb on her

modernia is an incredibly versatile dps due to not needing burst to achieve her max dps, if you already have 2 bursting B3, modernia will be better.

I have all the units you mentioned and as far as I have tested, new scarlet certainly outdps the drunk Scarlet. But this doesn't mean you just bench the old Scarlet as she still is very good for Solo raid or Union.
As for Modernia vs Ludmilla Xmas, I could say both excel at different things depends on mechanics. Ludmilla can nuke solo boss fast especially if the enemy have core while Modernia can excel on both trash wave and bossing ( "slightly" lower damage than Ludmilla).
On the other hand for A2, i pretty much agreed that new Scarlet replace A2 but A2 still can be use for Union and Solo raid especially bosses with multiple parts.

XLud is the best water code dps in the game, excels at single target damage but has no AOE. Deals huge damage with core parts and buffs others damage as well.
Drunk Scar is one of the best electric code dps, the bulk of her damage comes from her normals, S1 atk buff also life drain, S2 crit dmg buff when life is low and burst crit buff when life is low. She has a insta burst AOE, but can also be used as a flex unit that does not need to burst to deal damage. Drunk Scar is the prototypical Glass Cannon she loses life she grows stronger.
Black Scar is insane the best wind code dps, s1 deals aoe per 3 shots (has some inconsistencies for boss parts), huge damage and atk buff from burst. the bulk of her damage dealing comes from her s1 aoe, normal atk and burst self buff. She needs to burst regularly, but she also doesn't have the HP drain handicap. Current tests show her insane potential she powercreeps her Drunk Self.
A2 is good but like Drunk Scar she has a life drain mechanic she needs a healer to keep her topped up so her Mode B doesn't deactivate. Deals lots of aoe damage she used to be my go to unit for Thomas until RH came.
I still use Drunk Scarlet but will place her into the electric code team with S.Anis the top team with bunnies or schoolgirls are now for Black Scarlet.
As a new player, you cannot literally go wrong with any of those characters. All very strong and will take you to the Endgame just fine.
Now if we are going sweaty mode and wanna be the very best as no one ever was, pull for the new Scarlet because she is a lot stronger than the older version.
I pulled for scarlet and got another Modernia
155 pulls one Sakura and one Signal. I always mileage these pilgrims unfortunately. I was only lucky at Dorothy's banner.
I think a big deal about Scarbs is that she is THE ONLY good Wind DPS. So if you want to try hard a Wind type boss, she's the goat, but I do think Modernia is better overall, she's so useful and powerful on auto.
So yeah, if you already play a meta team, Scarbs is indispensable only if you plan to tryhard Union Raid or loves complex team building

Im not sure what to do to be honest. I have core 1 RH, max MLB Modernia, school girls and bunnies, and i got 2 BS Scarlet. Im not sure if i should try to MLB Scarlet or not.
Would also like to tell everyone, there is one unit that if it comes out, will put Modernia back into the top meta. And that is team ASPD BUFFERS. Right now most attack speed buffs are only self buffs. Modernia with attack speed buffs during burst? Absolute carnage. And it's only a matter of time.
Optimally, you'll want both, but...
Something to keep in mind is that while Scarlet Alter has better DPS, her AOE proc damage is distributed, so the more enemies on the screen she's attacking, the less damage they take individually. I find that she's great for bosses, but she's not great for pushing Campaign because while she's great at softening up mobs, she can't finish them off if there are too many on the screen at once. More importantly, her AOE proc does not affect projectiles or interrupt circles.
In contrast, Modernia is far better for Campaign stages because her AOE damage isn't distributed, it hits everything within a large circle, and it's unconditionally sustained for the duration of the Burst, something that no other unit in the game can do. She's basically the best AOE unit in the game, and when she has max ammo OL lines with a Bastion cube, she's capable of some serious damage while off her burst cycle.
If you have Red Hood already, Modernia is the perfect partner, as she cover's Red Hood's lack of AOE quite handily.
ST so far, new Scarlet doesn't even hold a candle to my RH, but throw any aoe be it mobs or multiple parts and she just styles on her... RH. core 1 30 affection destroyed by non sparked new commer with 4/4/4 in her skills xD Damn.
I didn't get Scarlet, I don't if I use my tickets. My dps are Og Scarlet, and Marian. I do have RH as my burst 1.
Honestly, for the average player, I'd just say go modernia since she's so much easier to use and so good.
I'd say both Scarlets, and Alice, for sure are good, but you need to invest in them and learn how to play them, which is a point against them.
Ease of use would be a huge deciding factor which Modernia has in spades. You'll learn the others later, but Modernia is nearly good right out of the gate with no learning involved.

@@alanparana6899 get Black Scar now, we have no idea what characters are in the future but BScar now is damn strong could be quite broken tbh even at low invests she can outdps the best of the best at full OL investments. Oops didn't read. Modernia is still very good for campaign especially in higher stages with shields that will deal 1 dmg you will need a unit capable of shooting down the shields Modernia does this easily with her burst unli ammo. Smol White can also do this so don't feel pressured in getting Modernia. its up to you to decide.
