Great information, I’m literally using the same set up on my 98 12 valve and only shooting for 500-600 hp, good to have some confirmation those parts are good for much more, should never have to take this engine back apart in my lifetime 👊
Dam you guys rock! Wish I was more informed when I picked up my first pickup with a cummins(my Kenworth T809 had a ISX 650). But I was new to it and looked fir months and only found crap then I found it so I drove 4 hours and it was perfect straight body and had a fresh Reman ( yeah right) again I was and still am a newbie but no blow by and looked new snd clean! Drove gray sounded great had 4 inch straight and a FASS 150 I I dropped all that I had from my inhearitence from my grandpa and hooked up my 91’ rusted out 4Runner on a dolly and took off! I drive transfers and end dumps so I can hear a engine if it changes and bout 2 hours in a got a knock! 4 hours and in my driveway I heard some stuff I knew was bad! Now one else could hear it and told me I was tripping! Hole 3 and 4 had been thicker sleeved and the rebuild was the worse bandaid the shop I took it to ever seen so engine was completely garbage! Oh I live in a small town in north Idaho so not many shop and the one I took it to took a month to find that! And another 3 to get my truck back after I did all the leg work and my full bill there was 13,800$ so I’m almost 40k already but had studs and 12 valve connecting rods installed but it’s been one thing after another TIPM, ECM, all the wiring all breaks and hubs! Long story short it makes me want to cry but this is my dream truck and I hate it cause I’ve never had it on the road longer than a month before I have to drop money and wrench which I love doing and new I would be but the engine in the beginning just made my plan so far off that it’s just discouraging! And now I’m broke and it sits cause turbos toast and cp3 is on its last leg! And I can’t ever get that much money set aside so This Justin guy is so stoked with life and sorry yo bitch but I’m super jealous! Laugh out loud you guys rock and live The videos! Thsnks
On my 12V I built it pretty well, wasn't shooting for crazy numbers, 600ish, then an injector stuck open on a long trip and glazed the #3 cylinder, I honed it out and most of the compression came back, but it still ain't right.. Now I have a bad intake valve or seat in there somewhere and it's sooting up the intake... Failures suck, and the more limited your budget the worse. I have a 1000hp engine in mind now based on a 24V mechanical pump I got from Dauntless (you know the one)

A question from a fellow tech. What cam would you use in a manual 4:10 axle a 67/71/12 of s480. ported/bowled with larger valves 60% injectors 6.7l intake and fuel system. Balanced to =/-1 gram mirco polished crank @ Wagler rods, coated and chamfered industrial pistons @ .020 over. beefed up valve springs and push rods and all dlc coated and studed ???? power band 2300-3800.. I was thinking colt stage4????? what your thoughts. mainly a heavy heavy tow rig

I’m kinda surprised you didn’t mention the flywheel, Cummins stock is weak. Does it already have the upgraded flywheel? And what about the transmission, there’s always a weak link. 800 HP is no joke and what torque are you shooting for? The factory parts break down when pushed that much. Love the content, do you guys have exchange engines, so the down time is less? For us who don’t have all the money invested already.

Been there and did it no issues. Single 476 1000hp~ 28k gross over the continental divide 3 years ago. Set it up right it’ll do whatever you want
