I was proposing that (Rodri+Kova) days before the kick-off and was glad to see that Pep did that. Our defense is leaky and the enforced midfield is essential. Perhaps Diaz and Akanji are a bit tired closer to the season end. I did not know that Josko Guardiol will play and was afraid that Rico Lewis will not be able to handle it. So far so good for us. They have a fantastic record in UCL. But as a neutral, I was struck how much good fortune Madrid have had lately, as we saw in El Clasico just now when Barca clearly scored. Arsenal & Liverpool don't have the attack that Real Madrid have with Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo & Bellingham making a run from midfield. Man C's defense & midfield were tested defensively all season long, Ruben is not at his best, Gundogan's vision/control is not there. The only thing that City have to scare Real Madrid is the pressing set up by Pep & their attack, everwhere else they have holes. Last season Man C's best qualities were their defense with Rodri, now they concede against too many.
City are not good defensively this year, I agree. But what happens at the other end of the pitch will be the decider. And I think City, with de Bruyne, Foden and Alvarez/ Haaland will be too much for Madrid over two legs. The winner will win UCL.

Both Real Madrid & Man C has had injury trouble, I think RM had worse issues but I think this season Ancelotti's better with how he dealt with injuries & new players.
Pep is trying to balance out the team chemistry after Gundogan & etc left, while also trying to coach the new players. Maybe next season, Man C will be way better but you have to admit that currently, both Pep & his players are not at where they should be.
