So many haters here. Cruise is one of the biggest movie stars of all time and gets zero respect for it. Zac offers him a compliment and people can't stand it. What bitter lonely lives you all must have if watching someone pay someone a compliment irks you so much.

zero respect, people haven't shut up about how great he is in the last 30 years. the reason people take issue with it is that he already seems so full of himself and practically personifies the American fame culture so they find it icky when someone is blowing smoke up his ass again. personally, I get it, he is a great actor though i think he doesn't choose very challenging parts. if your Zac, however, he's probs your idol and of course he's going to like you more if you say those things to him on camera but that doesn't mean we have to like it on camera too. he could have said it off stage and asked tom some actual real questions on the couch but no one ever gets an answer out of tom its only a vague impassioned evasive responses. You know what else they get paid and they get awards not to mention people clearly love his films how about talking about real world issues that maybe tom cruise could help solve with all his 100+million dollars and his other millionaire friends. Maybe ask him why he still needs superfluous possessions when hes already happy in his professional life his family are secure hes healthy and he could potentially save people's lives with his privileged. that would be an interview about who he is beyond his acting. He doesn't owe us that though so we get this affable one-dimensional cruise instead.
It's not what he is doing per se but rather the way he goes about doing and how it comes across, it seems as if he wants people to like him through complimenting , it felt insincere and awkward.

He did the same thing to Taylor Swift on Ellen. Ellen asked about her Grammy's and he screamed; "YES!" And loudly was clapping while praising her and making the moment all abut Taylor's winnings. The guy is very sweet.
it really saddens me that one actor decides to give a sincere, heartfelt compliment to another actor, one he really looks up to and a film icon in Hollywood, and 80% of the reactions to this humble moment is ridicule. people are so damn critical they can't even tell kindness and respect from ass kissing. and he's talking about Tom's acting abilities, not his personal life or belief system. get over yourselves, damn.

It's incredible how much negativity there's written here. Guys, life is too short wasting your time like that. If there's something I know I wouldn't like to watch, then I would find something different to watch that I'd find cool. And looking so much forward seeing The Mummy soon. hey Marianne i agree about the negativity but the thing is i love graham nortons show that doesn't mean i agree with everything said on it or always enjoy watching every moment of it. if zac can say in earnest in front of the cameras why is it so wrong for others to share how they feel about what they are seeing. Personally, i wish everyone would stop blowing smoke up tom cruises arse at least not on camera because it just perpetuates this obsessive fame culture and seriously is sickening he doesn't need it zac efron doesnt need it and the public dont either. i love actors, film, tv, i appreciate the work and the talented people behind it. too many of them, however, spend too much time talking about themselves rather than what they care about outside of that or should care about outside of themselves. im a fan of tom but i dont know the guy and neither does zac.

or dirty grandpa or bad neighbors 1 and 2... yeah, he studies his work, while he (efron) keeps on making one crappy raunchy movie (but hey they make money so that's all that matters!) after another that shows off his body and nothing more.. he's basically a film attention whore personality NOT even a actor...
Efron seems to me like he genuinely wants to work in drama's and thrillers and be taken seriously, but hollywood has him type cast at the moment. You can see it in his face how disappointed he seems when he's asked to dance and perform that pole bit.
then why not work for a time in broadway or off broadway theatre? why not take a HUGE pay cut and work in independent movies for a year or two to "build up" his resume that he wants?? i mean by now, he doesn't need to work anything and doesn't need the money either! i mean if he TRULY wants to be a serious or at least a respected actor he would and could do both....
are you kidding? he has done serious independent movies, but they've all turned out to be shit and no one saw them. as far as stepping away from movies to do broadway goes, film acting isnt the same as stage acting and stepping away from movies never works out. always ends with the public forgetting you and not giving a shit.
Lew Harper he had really good independent movies, they just didn't get any hype. he did beautifully in them too. I really wish people would watch Parkland and Me and Orson Welles. those are my favorites of his indie movies. he really shines with a good script and generously talented costars.

they didn't recount the "infamous" cruise teaching efron how to ride a motorcycle story? sorry, but that is one bizarre story! who (cruise) flags someone down that they don't know and have never met (at a party) and says to them within moments of meeting them "do you ride motorcycles? "would you like to learn how" and then tells that person to come to their home (giving them the address and time) the VERY NEXT DAY? and spends hours with them teaching them all about motorcyles and how to ride one... not to mention the huge age difference? is it any wonder "snide jokes" abound from this story! was tommy trying to recruit zac into the abusive cult? or what? it's just a bizarre story! think about it, if you did this in your own life how it would come across to others!..
