Hi all! 💜 Feel free to share your own seed bead storage method(s) down below, so we can all help each other out. Here is a link to the corresponding blog post: www.orchidandopal.com/blog/bead-storage-series-2-seed-beads. Thanks so much for watching, and have a great day! 💜
I'm so happy you showed the purple and black case, I've been curious about the actual size of the plastic containers inside and have looked at several times but have not ordered. I am comfortable ordering now that I've seen yours :) I'm loving your storage ideas.
Hi Gina, I have a roll cart with colored draws. I got it at a thrift store I like the clear ones you have better. I put my seed beads in one draw and delicas in another and so on. Then I store my fire polish and all the other beads in a 12 bottle container that I get at Walmart I have so much that I am running out of space. Thank you so much for doing this video. Have a great day. Stay safe.
Hi Holly! You can check out the list of bead box companies here: bit.ly/OOJBEADBOXES I believe in this video I was referencing beadsofthemonth.club with the 11/0 round seed beads. Thanks for watching!
Hi Gina , i have collections from different company’s , do you break them down or leave them together Like adding seed beads from the collections and putting them in with your others that are in your drawers? Also all the findings etc.
What jewellery do you make with so many seed beads? Luv to see some of your ideas...I have a few seed beads for in betweens like spacers for my paper beads ...
Hey Gina! Oh my goodness, I use them in almost every project, but I highly recommend using them in things like beaded ropes, herringbone stitch, russian spiral, flat spiral, and beaded bezels - just to name a few. Lots of my tutorials incorporate 11/0 seed beads. I hope this helps! :)
Hi Gina!! Love 💕 your storage system! I realized looking at your collection I have probably double to triple seed beads in each kind! I actually use some things from around the house to store a lot of my seed beads! My 6/0s are stored in like a boot sized shoebox;8/0s are stored in the large blue round danish cookie container; my 11/0s are stored in original tubes in 3 bead storage towers( by color)meant for the tic tac boxes but I can fit 2 round tubes in each slot. I also use Toho ,miyuki (and great uniform Czech beads in tubes from hobby lobby! )My 15/0s are stored in original package just like all my seed beads plus some in bags ! I use a clear container that came with the round screw top containers( just took those out and again sorted by color 3 rows high; my overflow of 15/0s stored in a 2 part clear container that locks shut( open it up to a 2 part system (1 with 2 dividers that I store my fire mtn 15/0s in original round containers of like 30grams each other side has a lid that opens up and more of my 15/0s fill that side up). My Delicas are stored in a container that was a white frozen mini Belgian cream puffs container (again all stored in original tubes by color (entire box is stuffed full: only downside is to get to color I want I have to remove a whole whole bunch of bags and tubes to get to what I want) . All sizes of my seed beads that came in bags and loose due to sorting (I use a tackle box storage system that I guess was originally meant for screws, etc. I labeled outside of the clear pull out drawers. My good hex beads are stored in a large red vintage pencil box. My cubes are stored in clear flat small photo cases. Lastly I have this neat black clear top, and a small pull out drawer and a large high pull out draw the 1st 2 store my vintage and generic hex beads and the bagged vintage uniform Czech hanks and some other bagged 11/0s plus a screw top container of 11/0s that couldn’t fit in tackle storage rack are in that black container that also had 4 open storage racks on the top!! I know my system is not definitely not all clear but it works just fine for me as I know where everything is! Since my very messy built in kitchen table and kitchen, living room is my studio since I live alone; I sit behind the table in an office chair and the tackle and black container are on the floor in front of me pushed up to built in cabinets around kitchen table! I also have a large pvc? Rack that had only 2 shelves on it! That’s where all my seed beads, cubes Delicas, multi hole beads etc are stored and I also have a large TV tray beside it with some works in progress!! Sorry so so long but I know you wanted us to share how we store and organize our seed beads. Again I used containers from around the house even thu they’re not all clear it doesn’t bother me since I know what container has what! Tfs your storage system which I would love 💕 to have but as I live on disability you have 2 do with what you got! Ps besides the clear containers everything I got for free from fellow customers where I did a once a year huge craft fair before covid! I’ve also had a ton and ton of beads given to me too by them. Well I’ve gone on for way too long! Much love 💕 and hugs 🤗 from your bead friend Melissa from Florida!!
My personal favorite storage - at the moment - is 2" stack jars or larger. I do mostly seed beading, so I don't have a lot of other types of beads, though I will use bicones, pearls, etc. on occasion to enhance a piece. Due to having so many seed beads, I have found the stack jars are great as I can just grab the color/s I need and no bead mat or bead board is needed as I prefer shorter needles. I can simply "scoop" a few beads onto my needle directly from the jars. The jars are also great for my findings. I simply label the tops "Clasps", "Ear Studs", "Jump Rings", "11/0", "6mm Bugle" or the like, then I print out labels for what's in each, such as the size of the item if needed, type of metal, and the like when it comes to findings. For the seed beads, I have labels created for the brand, size, type (transparent, silver lined, opaque...), the specific color, as well as product number. The 2" or larger stack jars are usually only $1 at several local craft stores and come in a stack of 4 to 6 "jars" with one lid. I stack them 13 jars tall and put them in a double wide, 3-drawer, rolling cart. Each drawer holds 12 of the stacks. I also have a small bin on the rolling cart for all the extra lids I don't use when stacking the jars taller. When beading on the go, I got a couple basic (read: cheap! LOL) empty tackle boxes of various sizes from the local hardware store. I simply put thread, scissors, etc. in the tackle box along with my short stack of beads and whatever findings and tools I may need for the project, using one of the spare lids on the top of the stack jars, of course. They make it very easy, quick, and simple to take my projects wherever I decide to bead. Sometimes, I'll even just pack a tackle box, grab a blanket, and bead in my backyard for a change of scenery. (Sorry, this was much longer than I thought it would be. Thank you to anyone who actually read this far!)
do you know how many grams of seed beads the black/purple storage container holds per tube? Thanks for you info I might try the notebook for findings that's always my most scattered
? Great video series! Where did you get the clear plastic cases the flip top tubes fit in? I have the short rolling cart and am now excited to see how you store the rest of your supplies because right now most of mine are just thrown in a drawer!
Awesome, Susan! I am still hunting for a link to those small rectangular containers, so I will update soon. In the meantime, I can tell you that they are 6"x4"x1.25." 💜💜💜
Gina, Great storage units. Where did you get the tic tac type boxes? I have my seed beads in their original containers stored in a storage box that stacks three high under my computer desk. Thanks for sharing your storage method. Take Care. Hugs to you and family from Florida!
Whew! I thought you were going to tell us that all 3 of the drawer units were full of seed beads.😳 I like the idea of the square containers. I'm a klutzy person, knocking open seed bead tube over ALL the time. Maybe a square container would be more stable. I keep mine in round tubes with either push-in or screw lids. My Miyuki and Toho beads are kept separate since I do a lot of looming and they can't be mixed in the same project. My hex cut beads, two-hole, bugle, Delicas, and other odd shaped seed beads are in with the Miyukis since I have less Miyuki rounds than Toho. I marked all of the 15/0 tubes with washee tape around the top so I don't have to go through every tube looking for them. A simple system that kind of works but also kind of doesn't. I'm always looking for ways to make it better as my seed bead stash grows. Thanks for showing your system...gives me something to think about. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks so much for sharing all of the details here, Crystal! LOL - Goodness, I'd be in trouble if all three carts only housed seed beads. I have to keep sending some of my beads out to Patrons monthly, so I don't ever have toooooo many at a given time. I don't know why I didn't think of Washi tape to do some labeling - I had several rolls; however, my son keeps taking it to use with his legos 🤷🏻♀️, so maybe that's why! lol 💜
I have the equivalent of 6 of your tall carts for my beads, but 2 of them have the big drawers below like your short cart. The carts are made by Iris and the drawers are clear and interchangeable. The big drawers house bead mats, wire, bead thread, fireline spools, findings and other supplies. The small drawers in those two carts - one cart is filled with crystals, one is filled with seed beads. I also have two other carts filled with seed beads. The other two carts are all the other beads - fire polish, gemstones, pearls, delicas (2 drawers), all the different Czech one and two hole (& 3 or 4) hole shapes, bugle beads, etc. Of course I’ve been beading seriously on and off when I can since about 1988. Beads don’t go bad, lol, they just make new kinds. And I keep most beads in the various sizes of tic-tac boxes, a few in tubes, fewer still in bags. And my seed beads are all miyuki and toho with just a handful of Czech seed beads. One of the seed bead carts is all 11’s and it’s by color by drawer.
Excellent storage system. I like the tic tax cases because I don’t wAnt my beads getting all mixed in one of those boxes that just have the plastic lid. Disaster.
I loved the tic-tac container...I have some of those the I have some sequins and small paper craft related...I need really bad to organize my seed beads some I have in container other in tubes that came or in bags...is a mess...😫😫😫
LOL! I do make a lot, and I also send out some of my beads monthly to some Patrons (patreon.com), so that has really helped me cut down on the amount that I have at any given time. 💜💜💜
Omg I secretly used to have a tic tac addiction and had collected the containers for this exact use!! But I am definitely going to transfer them over to these clearer containers. Love this organization method!

I got those flip tops after seeing your first video! I love them!
I am so glad you love them too! 💜💜💜
