Although David and Eddie got most of the accolades, the group would have been nothing without Paul. If he could have beaten his demons and lived long enough to have a solo career, more people would recognize what an incredible talent he had. I think he was the best dancer as well.

They can do this but the circumstances of his death are very complicated, with many thinking that he was actually murdered. That in and of itself would be riveting, the theories behind it, the evidence left behind.
I had the pleasure of seeing Paul sing this live with the original 5 in '67 and '68. Then again at the Copa after David left in 68,69 and 70. Each time a richly deserved standing O. Tremendous, tremendous performer. Always looked to me like the other guys enjoyed watching him sing this just as much as the audience did. Still a fabulous listen and a great memory from so far back. The girls wanted to be with them, and the guys wanted to be like them. This music will never die. God bless the mighty Temptations.
When are they going to make an Unsung episode about him? Cause not a lot of people, especially the young generation of today, knows about his contribution to the Temptations, Motown, even music. It's really a shame!!! RIP Paul Williams.

Paul was a beautiful, soulful singer. When I hear the Temptations music it doesn't feel dated. I was lucky enough to see them perform live 7 or 8 times.
I saw this performance on television back in the day and I have heard the entire "Temptations In A Mellow Mood" album, it's a must listen to because a lot of people back in the day, didn't think that they could pull off singing what is considered classical music like Rodgers and Hammerstein "For Once In My Life ". After hearing Paul sing it, no one else can sing that song with so much raw and pure emotion.

Tom, you are absolutely right! When I first heard this album I didn't like it...didn't sound ethnically honest. Have long since changed that opinion. It's now one of the greatest works of music. Just wish that I had recognized Williams talents earlier.
