I think those two birds were Black Skimmers. Cool to watch them feed.

Hey Jeff! I think you're right, Thanks! We saw a few more on the beach today. Usually we only see them in the preserves that we go to on occasions and rarely on the beach.

Terri needs a scoop of her own.

Hey Laddle, thanks for the comment! We have multiple scoops with us all the time. But when on video, Terri finds and I dig most of the time. On occasions you'll see her digging stuff up. We find we can go just as fast either way. Cheers!

Thanks again and hope one day we ll go metal detecting together. We love you guys god bless you

Wonderful choices! The Manticore is a fantastic - albeit expensive detector - but a fantastic one! The Vanquish 540 is excellent too and can find as much stuff as the Manticore.. The Manticore is quite a bit more accurate in many cases. The VDI numbers on the screens won't match. Like a U.S. clad Quarter on a Vanquish 540, or even the Equinox 600/800 will show up around a VDI of 29-30. On the Manticore, a quarter will be around VDI 88-89. So expect those kind of differences in the readings.
Both are excellent on the beach. The Manticore and Equinox detectors are waterproof to like 16 feet under water. The Vanquish, only the coil is waterproof. The control box has a rain guard so can be used in light rain.
Both will really rock on the beach (or have from our experience and our opinion.)
But then we haven't compared many other brands, yet. We're kinda stuck on the Minelab detectors!
Minelab has excellent support (sometimes slow, but very good). I've had a coil replaced for free before.
Hope you have fun. Let us know what you find. Cheers!

nice finds especially the cross and 925 bracelet. Able to hit the beach 4 times -n 6 days. not bad in change just under $8 (avg 68 cents an hour) and then one 925 silver Kay Jewelers friendship ring (new $149) so used probably $10 🤣. and 3 tent stakes.

      Hey Edward,
Thanks for the comment and info!
Your coin average per hour is about what ours is on most days, I think! Sometimes more, many times less! That's the way of it.
But last few treks out have been pretty nice for us.
Great find on the friendship ring!
Retail value is always a great number! Reality hits when you find most jewelers will only pay for the raw material price and not the aesthetic appeal of the item.
So, have to give them away, or sell on Etsy. Have fun!

So what settings do you use on your Vanquish? Perhaps a video on the setting that you use on your detectors?

    • @TheDetectingDuo
      @TheDetectingDuo  8 місяців тому +1

Thanks Don! We do need to make a videos on the settings at some point.
Terri uses the Vanquish 540 in stock Jewelry mode/setting, with (usually) all metal turned on (horseshoe) and sensitivity at about 3/4 on. Sensitivity is adjusted a tad up/down now and then as needed.
Jewelry seems to have the best results on the beach.
The Vanquish 540 doesn't suffer from EMI like the Equinox 600 does when I use that. The Vanquish just masks most issues out with its multi-frequency. On rare occasions it will get chatter from other detectors but resolved by turning it off and on again.
It's a great detector and she's found quite a few rings and jewelry with the Vanquish over the past few years!
Hopefully you're doing well with yours? Cheers.

Thank for getting back to me on the Vanquish settings. I have a 540 as well and need to get out more. Although there are not many beaches here in Wyoming. I love the New Smyrna beach area and I'll have to get back down there and give it a spin. @@TheDetectingDuo

@@Don_Rice Ha, yeah not as many beaches there.... Next time here, track us down and say "hi".
OK, so depending upon what type of stuff you are after in Wyoming, most any mode would do. Jewelry mode best overall, but relic mode would work well in the fields and forests and probably find you some deeper targets. Then tweak to your liking and save as a custom.
Probably not in all metal mode, unless you want to hear everything and then decide if digging it is of value.
We can't do a lot of park and fields here without proper permissions or in the right county. Most everything outside of beaches is off limits here.
But that depends upon the county and city.
You have restrictions there too, but any public land or properties with permissions would be fine from what I've read.
      Have fun out there!

Good evening my 15 y daughter is one of ur follower and now she got me hooked and subscribed to ur channel i wanna buy her a metal detecter for her birthday in a month but i don t know much about them if you can help with some advice. Also something that is good but affordable please thank you

Welcome to the channel Hicham Dallahi! Thanks for watching and subscribing to you and your daughter!
That's great that she wants to metal detect. It can be a rewarding hobby, but can frustrate you quite a bit when you spend hours finding nothing. Don't give up!
For detectors that are good and affordable. I guess that depends upon your budget and where you plan to detect.
We really like the Minelab Detector series Metal Detectors right now (have used a variety of brands over the years). They have ones from low cost to very high cost.
For a very good all around, look at either the Vanquish 540 that Terri uses, or even the Vanquish 440 which is a tad cheaper. Both are found on Amazon, so you can use this affiliate link (we might get a small amount if you use our link, but doesn't affect the pricing) to see if you like the 540 and price.
      amzn.to/3impcTr
The 440 can be found here:
      amzn.to/3Q8gUM1
They are not 100% water proof. The coil is and the rain cover works good on the control box.
They have rechargable batteries and even basic headphones that you can use.
We own 2 Minelab Vanquish 540s because they work really well everywhere! They don't have the interference problem with Microwave and other EMI that the Equinox 600 Scott uses has from time to time.
The Vanquish 540 has been great at finding gold, silver, and everything in-between! Terri can find stuff I miss. So really good all around.
Any decent scoop, shovel or other digging tool should be fine. Just depends upon where you want to detect. We also use a Garrett pin-pointer but you don't really need one. The detector has pin-pointing built in.
Let us know what you decide to use and if this helps! There are other brands that are good, but these Minelab ones are so easy to use right out of the box. Turn it on and go detecting! Cheers!
