I’ve been working for Orkin for about 8 years. Started out as a pest control technician and was able to make presidents club in 2019 and was promoted to home inspector and have been the #1 inspector (sales wise) in the whole state that I live in. And now have made presidents club last year and this year and I literally doubled my income by making the switch to inspector and I absolutely love it. I love working every single day. Now there are things I may disagree with which is common cause not every company is perfect but if you work hard and really try to be the best, higher ups will notice and you can get the opportunity to move up. Best of luck man!
In CA, you can go for branch 3 inspector off the get go, along with branch 2 tech. There is no promotion to it. You really had to wait 8 years? What's Orkins commission structure like?
Been with orkin, it’s my first time being state licensed/ in the pest control business. I love orkin. I live in California and my region is great. My branch is awesome. Managers are great and take care of us. I love what I do, manage my schedule and time. Commerical is the way to go, been saving a lot of money with the company vehicle taking it home. The veterans of the company are really great people and knowledgeable they help out. The pay is great, you get what you put out! Nowadays everything is expensive, summer time I been working 12-14/16 hours. Which is fine you don’t need a 2nd job to make things work, the pay check is great with all overtime and working 6 days plus production. I prefer working long hard days and six days because once you look at the check it’s a great feeling.
currently at orkin n took over a route from being a royte manager since the other guy switched to being commercial. im thinking of switching to commercial, how is it?
That’s crazy. I’m a licensed tech who wondered if the post office would’ve been a better move. My mom is a clerk and suggests I worked there. I love what I do and glad to hear that you enjoy it too, based off of the comments. Love your mentality bro, God bless you and your family🙏🏼🤙🏻
Appreciate you sir! To eachs own as far as post office is concerned. Its for a specific people who live a certain lifestyle IMO. Too much politics based on seniority etc. Most new hires unless they get lucky are slaves to the P.O demands untill they make full time. And the wear and tear on the body ( im extremely active) was no joke. I salute all my past present and futute mail carriers. But orkin is great work. Keeps me on my toes and always learning something new! God bless you and yours aswell
@@Just_A_Thought1217 agreed i worked post office for 2 years and wasnt getting regular anytime soon on call from 5am till noon with kids, i was rca, now i do pest control too. but like anything else its your higherups thatll make or break your day......so probably just gonna start my own pest control business
As a 10 year Vet, and owner or a pest control company, i would tell you be really careful with Orkin. Idk if i would’ve quit the Post Office to work at orkin. They have a very high turnover rate. Get your Pest license, and get out.
The high turnover for pest control is because of the stress of the job and if you don’t work hard you don’t get paid good the more u do the more money you make
You gained a follower my brother, I got a message today from Orkin for an Outside Sales professional position!!! I need to ask how you like it and if you know, what is an Outside Professional and what do they do?
Late reply. Thank you for the sub 🤝 appreciate it. I actually really enjoy working for rollins/orkin . Ive had many gigs in many diff outfits includin US post office AND orkin has been fantastic. Very responsive. Very supportive. Offer alot of incentive. Though techs sell im not the labeled " Sales position " so my knowledge of your gig would be as follows, will follow up leads. Usually visit the homes of people who need extra services and give quotes, learning square footage of any room/ home or building ( easy) to asses prices and identifying potential issues will help you sell accurately. As far as beard is concerned no they are not beard friendly unfortunately . If you have a medical reason thats one thing. But no im.a.few days overdue for a shave in this video. Hope all works out for you! Very lucrative option for lots of folks!
Hey man! Just saw your comment, I just finished my 30 hour 7a class, and have an opportunity lined up with Orkin. I really enjoy sales, good with people's, I prefer being out and about instead of in front of a computer. Can you share your experience? I'm considering to apply for their sales area..thanks in advance!
Oh yeah it sucks, I'm in that boat it's a bunch of BS. I don't know why they just can't hire us for one route so everyone will have a route, or have a better set schedule. And management wants you to be at their beckon call. But I got to stick it out
Absolutely. Even though I'm not there anymore. I learned alot. It was a great experience. Learned alot of things that I can apply in my day to day. And things to look for when I'm out and about. Wish I coulda stayed but life happens!
It’s been 4 months since this video, how do you like the job and what’s the pay like ? But what I want to know is how is your day typically and how stressful do you get as well
I enjoy the job! I cant say alot of people say " i wanna be a pest tech" but now that im here ive learned alot. I enjoy that no 2 days are really the same , i wont discuss pay much but i will say they pay well! And you can make more money ontop of your regular pay which is nice. Typical day starts with a vehicle inspection. Checking your route for the day , and hittin the road to service all your customers, get your paper work done . Go home . Every job has its stressers unique to each individuals circumstance, id say if dead rodents, roofs, and crawlspaces arent your thing.
