    very helpful. My door became out of balance and was a pain and I had thought the spring was broken and was about to replace it. But figured i would look around to make sure it was really broken. Which it was not. I made the mistake of raising the door all the way up and unhooking the cables at the bottom of the door, but did that was out of necessity to shut the door. The good news was that the springs were basically loose at that point so it unspun about 2 turns. Bad news is that lowering the door was HARD and Heavy and once it gets going it drops fast!! But resetting it I followed the torquemaster pro instruction chapter "Torquemaster® Plus Reset instructions". I have a single side system and it says "pull down to add 3/10 of a turn. Watch as three teeth of the ratchet wheel pass over the ratchet pawl, creating three “clicks”.."... In my case I heard 4 pawl clicks. So when tightening the spring, make sure you only go 3 clicks at a time unless you intend to go 4 clicks which is a different calculation to the total turns and does not really make it much shorter in time. My door opens like butter now.

    Do you tighten both sides? The red side tightens, gray right side just keeps spinning when I try to tighten it. I think my right side spring may be broke?

    Hi, what would you suggest if the cable is stuck and the torquemaster plus cannot release tension. The door won't open. Is it safe to cut the cable while it has tension? Wouldn't the drum keep the spring from unloading its stored energy?

  • @Gingic

    So how often do you work on these? Been having issues with mine since day 1 and I’ve had it for a year. The bar shown on the left in your video was some how cut in half. ??? I put another bar on and now my cords are uneven. The one on the left side of the garage door is 90 inches while the one on the right hand side is 93 inches and the door sits crooked. Everyone is also acting like the tension is supposed to do something with the wire but mine isn’t doing anything. Not really sure what to do at all now.

    Hello, how do you lubricate this kind of garage door mechanism and what type of grease? Thanks

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  5 років тому

      Nomer Fernandez Hi, I use Multi-Purpose Oil on the moving parts. I have a link on the description.

    • @nomerfernandez2386
      @nomerfernandez2386 5 років тому

      So its safe to lubricate that part the one you were fixing? Is it safe to use white lithium grease coz I have one laying around here using on door hinges, then was thinking if i can use it for that part you were fixing? Thanks

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  5 років тому

      I didn’t bother oiling the gear because it’s plastic. I did put oil on the hinges on the garage itself. Those are the ones that were making noises for me. Hmm grease might work, I personally never tried it. Just put it in one area and check what it does.

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  5 років тому

      Also the part I replaced was the springs since it broke in half. In this video I was showing how I unwinded and winded the springs. So the part I replaced doesn’t have to be lubricated. The springs goes in the tubing. And when I put the part back, I didn’t need to oil it. So what are you trying to fix?

    • @nomerfernandez2386
      @nomerfernandez2386 5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the reply, anyway, im trying to figure it out how i can lessen the noise, already lubricated the hinges with white lithium grease before. I just sprayed it awhile ago with white lithium grease that part, hopefully it wont damage the plastic parts. Thanks

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry, I didn’t realized the link to the product is gone. Anyways, if you go on Amazon, type in the door height and door weight…for example: “torque master plus double spring, 7ft, 125lbs.” It should direct you to the replacement springs. Hope this helps, take care.

    the spring is too tight to the wall of my garage and I can't get my ratchet/socket in there, do you have a recommendation on how to count your turns with a wrench?

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  3 роки тому

      Hmm. I Would make a mark..each time you pass that mark..count it as a turn. It would be similar as using a socket.

    mine clicks when opening only... is this a sign of it being broken or do I need to adjust it ?

    • @h0melyfe792
      @h0melyfe792  3 роки тому

      Hmm not sure what that clicking is, but anything that is out of the ordinary could be a sign. One side of my garage door was higher than the other, that’s how I knew mine was broken. It still opens as well, I kept using it until the other side finally gave up too. So fixing an issue right away is the best way to do it to prevent further damages. Lubricating the hinges helps as well for maintenance.

    Hi, I have a 1 door wayne dalton garage door that your procedure worked great on so thanks for that! Recently one of the springs on my 2 door Wayne Dalton Garage door broke. The garage door opener still opened and closed correctly though. I hired someone to replace the spring but now the door jerks almost bad enough where it will almost break the door when closing. Going up it is as smooth as ever. I cannot get a hold of the installer. Any ideas? Thanks.

    I unwind these springs in about 2 seconds using a deep 5/8" socket, a vise grip and a screw driver......then replace with traditional torsion system...not for the diy'er or faint of heart

    • @RingZero
      @RingZero 3 роки тому

      You dont need a vise-grip nor a screw driver. Just a 5/8" dog-bone wrench and it can be unwound in under 2 secs per side. This can be done by a DIY'er - with or without a heart :-)
