2021 anyone? still one of the best synthesizer licks in new wave history of music
Just a bunch of people knew and know nowadays about this jewel!!
Was it ever actually released on an album? I had a 'not for sale' copy of the SSQ album given out to radio stations, but I think they decided to repackage her as Stacey Q. So the SSQ album seemed really rare.

Dec. 2023 here
2024 here.
The drummer owns the music store across the street from me. Talked to him for two hours straight. Very cool dude 😎
what place and where?? id love to have a disc signed by him !!
did he tell you how much cocaine they were on in the 80s?
@@DBCOOPER888 so boring when people associate cocaine with the 80’s so much.
@@mildred714 Don't sniff about it.
@@Safe-and-effective even your attempt at jokes have no personality. Glad you don’t have the brain power to realize how lame your thought process truly is.
“Uhhh 80s means cocaine”
Its 2019 anyone still looking this up? Love the 80's
Yes. And cute corgi in your avatar!
2020
I love this song. I heard it in 1986 and it's great that someone is still listening to it.
2019, 2020 & 2021 🖤
2021
This is music, its full of energy, love the band , love the 80'S, love u guys.
I love this song. I heard it in 1986 and it's great that someone is still listening to it.
Stacey and the guys should have been HUGE. I remember hearing Jet Town and Screaming in My Pillow often on the local alternative station. Brilliant stuff, and it still holds up today.
been looking for this song, so happy i found it here...
35 years looking for this song... Thanks for share it.
She is fantastic!
So 80's and Stacey looks good as hell as always
I just grew a mullet listening to this
LOL
I just bought 80s Camaro! ;-)
As you should
Recorded this song off Friday Night Videos onto reel to reel tape back in the 80's. It remained lost until I finally found it in an old dusty box in the storage shed. Could only remember a few words to this song over the many years.
Finally it's good to have this song back! ^v^
Are you certain it was this song and Friday Night Videos? I thought FNV only played bigger hits than this and I thought I'd seen every episode of that show, but just now is my first time seeing this cool video.
@@bobdavis4848 It's possible that I recorded it off Rock-N-America back in the day.
@@radioparrot3860 I also suspect it was that show you saw it on, as its logo is on here.I always liked Rock-N-America but it was only shown briefly here I think (California Bay Area) and probably after this was shown.
Simply best, great, fantastic!!!! 2019
Define 80s its the hair fashion and music missed this genre thanks for sharing this
Love this song ❤❤❤❤❤❤
2024 anyone? 😊
It is like a drum and bass in 80’s… 😃😃😃
I thought i would never hear or see one of my fav 80s mtv! Thanks
I feel this is some of the music that inspired synthwave music
It's definitely one of the closest 80s songs to sound similar to synthwave music, which I only discovered recently. I prefer real 80s music most of the time.
I love Stacey's synthy voice, just like in Insecurity.
It's like a Sci-fi soundtrack from 80's the best👍
Cavegirl 1985 soundtrack.
Kinda surprised that these really talented people involved haven't weighed in... Brilliant guitar work & production by John St. James and Stacey. John Van Tongeren and Dan Van Patten were monsters on synths. Karl Moet played a kit that was 100% triggered and had god like samples. I mixed monitors for them a number of times at Knott's in the 90's. It was a pleasure every time. I remember Stacey was working at Spoons as a night manager/hostess somewhere in there...
I've forgotten this single. Thank you for jogging my memory and for this video post.
At Knott's, we used to call SSQ "The Stacey Swain Quartet". Wasn't Stacey a hostess at Spoons on Beach Blvd. when she wasn't recording or performing with her band?
Yeahhh!! The best 80s
this is what they give you in heaven when you push the ‘80’s button.
listenng n COVID era OLD but GOLD
Nicee 👍
Wish i could get my hands on a set of them drums..they are awesome!
What a great 80's video
02:21 That keyboard is coronavirus free :-)
Holy Shit the 80s!
i heard this song in the car and realized it sounded like the intro/outro of an anime
I remember seeing this music video once on MTV and wondering what happened to this song.
I wish they'd done videos for songs like Big Electronic Beat and Walkman On.
2021 still sounds great 👍👍👍
Good music
It's fun music! I like. 80th - best time!
Fuck this slaps, didn't know it was this old, heard the cover by Roxi Drive which is also sick, this was way ahead of its time.
what does it 'slaps'?
@@notyetskeletal4809 figure of speech
How is it 'ahead of its time'?
SSQ - Synthicide love you
Extremely eighties. Love it :-)
From the movie Cavegirl and Hardbodies!
80s RULE!!!
I dont know why people make negative comments..SSQ provided a couple of songs that I will never get out of my head..great ..just the fact that Stacey had a great music career is good enough for me ..love her
Awesome Thank You.
Synthicide > Two Of Hearts.
New Wave is the best music genre in the world.
New Wave, Synthwave and Synthpop.
agreed
amen to that brother
Couldn’t agree more.
In this music video version of this dance-rock song, the Roland VP-330 and Yamaha DX7 ROM-3A patch "Take Off" were heard.
That arpeggiated bass line could very well have come from that Roland SH-101 that they love to show off in the video.
Also looks like a Roland JX-3P on his stand, but hard to say what was in the studio.
Synth and armpits, sums up the 80s basically.
Ha ha ha ha ha. That should be the first line in Wikipedia for The decade of the1980s.
2015-2020, plastic and ass
The ultimate anthem!
First time to watch this 36 years after
I remember this
Wow I didn't know Stacey Q was in a Punk-Rock band this is so 80's
This is not punk.
@@SPAZZOID100 then what is it NEW WAVE
This is definitely new wave which literally evolved right outta punk rock of the late '70s, hence the guitars etc. I don't think it's far-fetched to call this punk rock, it's got that energy. Just a bunch of synths on top.
I gotta have my digital fix today!
Beaufulmusicandvideo
iconic
What's strange is that the lead singer looks like one of the cavewoman characters in the movie CAVEGIRL where this song is featured. It took me 20 years to figure out what band sang this because the movie credits have no mention that I'm aware of, and good luck trying to find "synthesize" and later you find out it's "synthecide" like you would have thought of that word at all. :)
what a jewell
Awesome. Reminds me of Tahnee Cain
I actually spent over 15 years trying to find this song and video. All I remembered was the band was called SS_. I thought it was SST but to no luck then I remembered this song was on one of those teen sex movies the eighties were famous for and when I IMDBd the movie, I found the right name of this band and VOILA =)
Congrats. SST was a punk record label; Black Flag etc..
The movie was called "Hardbodies"
Makes me think of Chequered love
This sounds cool .
IIRC, there was another video for this song that was played on MTV back in 1984. It was a B&W video filmed at a race track and kept the "Indy car" theme. One shot was taken in the pits showing the car rolling up to the camera as if it was coming in for a pit stop. The video was shot when the track was not being used for a race of course.
knew this song from Cavegirl. One of my fav songs now in the 80s...
Great 🤩
love ssq
I finally found this song!!!! Love it!!!
Very 80's!!!
Still waiting for subtitles 😊😊😊
This track is just amazing 🤩
It’s like from another universe/planet/dimension 🎉🎉🎉
Memories … my memories I ve never had…. Something unbelievable is going on here ….
ON REPEAT 🎉🎉🎉
In this song, the LinnDrum bass drum was heard.
"My friend Rag here is multilingual. He's flipping you off in 48 languages."
Hahahaha!!!! Love that movie!!
great 80's tunes
Muy buena cancion!
Is that you calling? Crimson and Nice. It's on program 88, SYNTHICIDE
Hardbodies
Was Berlin their influence? They sound almost the same!
And Stacey's voice here is completely different from Two Of Hearts too.
I thought that. "Screaming in My Pillow" could be "Sex (I'm a) part II
I think Jon St. James (who is in this band) produced Berlin's Pleasure Victim album.
@@SLEEPTHIEFofficial Daniel Ross Van Patten was the producer on Pleasure Victim, but St James was one of the engineers so there is that connection.
Berlin's first record was out in 1980, so yeah, I think they could have influenced SSQ.
I have not heard this song for a long time that; 1. last I heard it was the mid-80s. 2. I've seen this video less than 5 times (no YT back then). 3. I though the SSQ was for SuSie Q.
I had a friend who committed Synthicide, sadly. He impaled himself on his Yamaha DX7.
so they weren't able to patch him up in time?
'80 to '84 had the best music of the era.
me mola
Thought that was retrowave, but its actually just best music I hav evr heard
Retro wave?? How is it retro wave when it came out in ‘84? Do you know what retro means? What is this going back to for influence exactly?
@@mildred714 "It wasn't retro then, but it's retro now. Then it was nowtro, if you will."
Love this and the instrumental version (Synth Samurai). Had no idea this song got a MV! Very cool!
2023 stacey Q 🎵🎵🎵
me encantaaaaaa
This might in fact be the most 80s thing I’ve ever seen 🥴
This music video version of this song was/is released in 1983.
The music video appears on the July 1984 volume of Rockamerica, suggesting otherwise.
6th grade in 84, watching seeing Stacy would make you think.
Keyboardist epic win @ 1:56..... and don´t forget the chin solo @ 2:21
Best part of cavegirl.
No synths were harmed in the making of this video
I certainly hope that was a stunt synthesizer he threw on the floor :-)
I grew up in the 80`s never saw this
Whenever i watch 80s music video i wonder how self-aware were those guys.
This should be at 432hz. Then see how the listener reacts...
Just gone and saved this song from a fate of sin.
667 likes ftw.
WOW SUENA COMO TODA ESA MÚSICA NEW RETRO WAVE QUE HACEN HOY EN DÍA, YO CREÍA QUE ERAN UN INVENTO FALLIDO QUERIENDO SONAR OCHENTERO PERO ESTA CANCIÓN ME DICE QUE ESE ESTILO REALMENTE EXISTIÓ EN LOS 80's.
❤❤❤
synthtastic!
