Yup, you're right, he's a baby. I've sheered sheep. They are quieter but oh so much dirtier. All of that lanolin, made me feel like i'd spent the day working in a greasy kitchen full of unmentionables.
Can’t wait for your live. I do have question. You said these fleeces are from 2021. I was wondering do you still have thunders fleece? I know he’s a llama 🦙. I like to buy fleeces. I buy most of my fleeces at end of March on wafa You know I loved 🥰 thunder. I loved to have part of him.
Alpacas are domesticated, even in the Andes. Although, we do tend to handle them more in the U.S. The closest thing to a wild alpaca is an abandoned alpaca. Sadly, they are lucky to survive a few years without human intervention.
We don’t brush them because it disrupts the lock structure. I focus on cleaning their barns and dry lots well a few weeks before shearing to minimize VM.
Tashia is such a good alpaca mom! I hope I can follow in her footsteps some day! Very inspiring.
Thank you so much 🤗

This process is fascinating! 💜
I thought I wanted alpacas before I saw this :(

I still have a fleece or two from Thunder. We have some warm days coming up. I’ll see what I have.

I wonder how they can survive in the wild in their Original place, the Andes?

How do you get them cleaned up for sheeting if they don’t like to be brushed yet?;)

Feel so sorry for it whining like that. Nobody likes to be restrained.
