Im slowly narrowing things down. Figuring out what ones really are the best for different situations.
The ft710 is hard to beat

Good morning, my friend, could you please help me?
I have an FTDX1200 and I'm having trouble putting the messages in CW in menu 027/031. How do I put the messages?
It was easy on the FT897, but I can't do it on the FTDX, the manual isn't helping. Thank you.

I've never figured it out either. Maybe someone else can help because I don't know.

Putting the book on top of the 3,000's speaker to make it sound like it is in a box was kind of strange?? The 3,000 has a better receive and other functions over the 710 except for spectrum analyzer and display/external display port which on the 710 is a next generation improvement.. I wish that Yaesu had beefed up the 3.000's finals and tuner to 200 watts but 100 seems to be the standard.. When I bought my 3,000 the price had dropped to just over $1k which is what the 710 is going for so I am quite happy because I really don't use the display..

I dont think the rx is better. Its not something I worry about but the 710 is better at diging out weak signals. I only use 3000 to do ft8 as i think its alot more rugged in that aspect. The 710 is way up on the sherwood list. And theres a reason. It has a better rx. Do you own a 710? Because the difference is obvious.
Like I said I only use the radio Ft8 and the speaker doesn't matter because it's not being used

@@hamradiohack My son has a 710 and he likes it because he can use a large display and work many of the functions with the touch screen.. He does FT8 because it is easier to mouse click than type with his physical challenges.. I like the 3,000 because of the 3 antenna inputs and pushbutton control of many receive features like the filters and 3 tiered IPO preamp.. He seems to have a higher noise floor where he is at and we are still trying to deal with that.. The 891 I have in my van does not seem to have the same issue when I am over there.. Enjoy the hobby as I do because there are so many directions and radio choices we as Amateur operators have..

Noticed on your scope on the 710 something crossing from left to right. Any idea what that is?

The Yaesu claim is 3:1 on the tuner but I have seen from a ton of other FT-710 users on social media that they have seen 5:1 tuning matches on it. I was surprised myself lately when it tuned my vertical on a few bands, and it is not the greatest in terms of SWR.

I cant figure out why the 1200 tunes but 3000 wont

@@hamradiohack yeah that doesn’t make sense to me either because they are the same tuner.
Meant to ask you, have you ever used or seen one of the old VCI HFT-1500 manual tuners? I have a chance to pick one up at a reasonable price, and it is the older model made in Canada.
