Me and my friends were talking about how every "Budget" keyboard you showed in the past was 200 dollars so we were so over with keyboard content stuff but I think this is the redemption video in my eyes
The Dustsilver D84 was my first mechanical keyboard and I couldn't ask for a better first experience introduction to the hobby. After upgrading to boards like the Monsgeek M1 and QK80, the Dustsilver boards do leave much to be desired in some areas, but I still love them nonetheless. The D84 and K84 are definitely solid choices.
This is the one I just purchased about two months ago. LOVE IT. The third keyboard I got for myself and honestly I don't care to look for another one for awhile.
@@maddidiv2679 I have it in the 60 layout (hated the font on the larger one) and it's such a pleasure to type on, even though I find it a bit too small. I'm a writer so I chose the red switch. Have travelled all around with it and take it to cafes. I've had it for five months. Def recommend!
Im fairly sure that if you grind down all the support fins in the bottom case you will get more of that hollow sound you were expecting. Construction does make alot of difference both in rigidity and sound isolation, its almost like engineers know what theyre doing right :D
I think the one thing missed here is that this K61 is a great competitor to the RK61. At $50 it’s about the same price, it’s just as customizable AND comes with better stock keycaps than the rk61. That was my first keyboard I ever modded and if the k61 was around I would have picked that to save some money on keycaps
To me it seemed like the kilmat changed the spacebar sound a bit, not better or worse but the pitch seems deeper and like it didn't create as much reverb, probably the extra mass just absorbing more vibrations. Definitely not worth taking apart this board though lol seems like a headache
of course you release this less than 12 hours after I finally pull the trigger on a new keyboard... went with the keychron k4v2. super happy with it though and personally think it sounds much better than the sound in this vid. brown switches.
that lilac colour scheme and that font AAAAA my aesthetic!! Though, I wish it came in ISO. I hate gamery aesthetics but future-y, 90s/00s aesthetics are my jam.
I bought the k84 for my partner, i swapped in some kailh speed pinks and put o-rings under the keycaps as well as a tape mod for the pcb, i also treated it to clipped, lubed, wire balanced and holee modded durock smokey plate mount stabs. She absolutely loves it. Edited for spelling.
There's some irony that the unmodded keyboard sounded adequately quiet and smooth, and the mod only made the spacebar thock deeper than the other keys, resulting in two pitches of thock which I actually found more distracting.
I always get jealous when I see great keyboards like this and they don’t have other layouts like the iso-de which I need. I understand that it may not be worth it for keyboard makers to include other layouts when there are not enough buyers for that. This is why I keep my eyes on the keychron v3
@@thedarknightnicht Well, if no one besides Keychron is going to offer iso de keyboards than it's them or we have to build our own but that will be more expensive and also a little bit difficult to get all parts. From what I have seen keyhron seems decent and if there is something you don't like you can easily mod or change it.
Hey! Super late reply and I don't know if it's relevant anymore, so you don't need to read if it isn't. I'm from Austria and I am also used to the german iso layout. Thought I could give you my experience :) So I was actually really unsure whether or not to get an ansi keyboard, but ended up buying it anyways after finding out that there is basically no market for german ones. Even if you have an american style keyboard, you can still configure it as iso-de, which is what I'm doing. I know the 10-finger system (is that what it's called?), so I don't actually need to look at the keys while I'm typing. If you can't type without looking, then it will probably be confusing though. I now have my melon shake dustsilver k84 and keyduos nj 80-ap (with osume keycaps and akko cream yellows) and I love them, especially the latter!! While it would definitely be nice to have something comparable for us, I can say that I personally didn't find the switch to ansi too difficult (again, I just use them configured as iso-de). That being said, while browsing the akko website I did see some iso barebone kits and possibly keycaps as well? If you don't wanna switch, then you might want to check that out at least, even if they aren't always in stock. But if you don't want to make the effort to build, then I totally understand as well. Hope that gave you some insight, but don't worry about responding if it's no longer relevant :)
Honestly I think I'd do the killmat mod anyways just for that nice chonky feel when you place it on the desk. That's a surprisingly good stock board sound though.
I almost bought a dustsilver a couple months ago, but went with the Feker Alice 80 instead. Ergonomic, budget, and sounded so good out of the box! If Dustsilver made a cute ergonomic keyboard, I would buy it in a flash
The KDA keycap profile is amazing, it's like Cherry version B, more rounded and deeper sound, but exact same key heights and lighter sound vs tall caps. KDA has a lower tone and dampens high pitched sounds in bad stabs and switch upstrokes, which is partly why the sound tests here sound so soft and deep. Unfortunately the wired version of this board prevents you from choosing them, and makes you go with doubleshot MSA caps instead, which are also pretty nice but they don't sound or feel as good as KDA.
I got a D84 with Outemu Reds (already swap out most of the reds for other switches though). Would mixing a Cherry or OEM profile keycap set work okay (mainly thinking of replacing the main alphabet keys) with the default KDA PBT keycaps?
I got the wireless milkshake D84 and the wired blue grey K84. I nodded both and they both sound really great. Just to let anyone know, the K84 and D84 have different keycap profiles and legend designs. The K84 also comes with Outemu switches. If you get the K84 (which is the cheaper of the two 75%), I would highly suggest either lubing the switches it comes with or replacing them altogether at the bare minimum. Overall they’re really fantastic boards. I highly recommend them (in fact, I’m looking at getting their new bunny keyboard which is super cute and colorful!).
Thank you for this review video. I bought this keyboard 7-8 months ago and I love it. I like the idea of making a custom keyboard but I just don't have the time or energy to do that and this keyboard scratched that itch without me needing to do any work

I'd really like to see you review the new Tecware Phantom+ and Phantom+ Elite, they're around the same price point as this board and have their own special switches, seem to sound great stock
The downside is that I just want a white monochrome keyboard and it's difficult to find; usually out of stock or extremely expensive. Otherwise this is really great
this keyboard is adorable, however the listing for it on their website has a typo on the key lol! I had to rewatch this video to make sure it wasnt on the final product. the website photo one key says “paly again > yes no” instead of play again! Good thing the product has the correct version lol
I'm doing a custom, but fairly cheap. GK61s pcb w/ matcha linears, jakeTsui keycaps, brass plate and a beautiful walnut case. If nothing else it's going to look lovely, and hopefully sound great too.
Hippy you should try the yunzii yz75 with the black switches but it comes I gateron reds and yellows as well if you want that. It's 90 dollars without a sale and is a tkl that s Bluetooth. The only mod the keyboard may need is a tape mod

@@cbegefdkih not worth it but i build my whole pc set up in white. The white milkshake version firt perfectly thats why I wanted to have it so badly. And the sound was important for me
If Dustsilver keyboard designers had placed the 1.5U CTRL key on the Right side instead of the Left side on the 84 series, do you think it would make better compatibility with most Themed third party keycap sets?
my dustsilver 75% came w otemu blacks and i def moded the keyboard. but i think i'll eventually end up putting different swithces in. my board sounds good but ultimately a bit pingy.
Everyone who has bought or tried a Dustsilver keyboard, what's your take on their Dustsilver Console keyboard software/config utility? Should I install it?
I mean if keychron needs mods like tap snd some dampening material i would try it myself, I am a Bionicle/gunpla/pc build so it wouldn't be that bad. I'll keep these in mind tho but i hope they go some numbpads tho
I just got a dusr silver keybaord and it is very good including stabilisers except one side of the spacebar which is absolutely dreadful, to the point that as someone who avoids modding at all costs is buying dialetric grease to try and fix it. Not sure if this is just me or and QC problem
I guess they just added another column, but just as a 65% with an extra column is considered 70, a 75% with an extra is… 80%... It’s similar to some old-school 80s like the Keebio KBO-5000 or the actually old Cherry G80 variant it’s based on
What is the difference between the "Wired" vs. "Wireless" version? Does that mean the Wireless is bluetooth capable but not the Wired? Or are they both capable? Please help, as this will be my first keyboard purchase that isn't a "standard" keyboard and I'd love for this one to be the one I get, as well as using your discount code.
I entered for the giveaway, but I have a question. Is it just this colour of the keyboard that we will get? Or do we get to choose? Because I like the colour scheme on this one but I like a different colour scheme more.
Well that sound is very good with stock, you can do a video with this mod: polyfill, tape mod 3 layer, pe foam and use the pbt keycap to make the "creamy" 🥺
hey Hipyo! quick question since im new to the thocky keyboards and i want to get one, do you get the RGB upgrade buying the RBG backlit? and does the sound change from what you have?
Wait, I'm new to the whole custom keyboard stuff, why is north-facing switches/rgb bad for compatibility? I thought that was how they were originally done?

I'm new to the mechanical keyboard world. Can u tell me why you would recommend wired rather than wireless??? plz reply
I'll keep these in mind tho but i hope they go some numbpads tho
hey ,which keyboard should I buy
reddragon k630 (rgb variant)
or
reddragon fizz k617
please help
The wired version wont be able to connect to bluetooth and will need a wire (the wireless will be able to tho)
Is there a different colour keyboard from the same brand that has the same stuff in it?
but can we talk about the elevated escape key in the thumbnail?
edit: i think that's stock
Hi @HipyoTech. I am so new to this so you may have answered this already but why do you recommend the wired over the wireless? Thank you!
Ok. But you do it
i did just that and it sounds amazing.
What are your thoughts on the monokei standard hipyo tech?
Imma get the GMMK PRO knob edition very soon xD thinking about box in black V2 for it!
THE TRANS KEYBOARD YAAAA
hey Hipyo! quick question since im new to the thocky keyboards and i want to get one, do you get the RGB upgrade buying the RBG backlit? and does the sound change from what you have?
You should try nuphy halo 75, it's great out of the box.
Wait, I'm new to the whole custom keyboard stuff, why is north-facing switches/rgb bad for compatibility? I thought that was how they were originally done?
Is there a difference between the K84 and the D84?
